  • A walk around Chippenham town centre in Wiltshire, England.
Chippenham is a historic market town in the northwest of Wiltshire on the banks of the River Avon. A settlement is believed to have existed here before the Roman invasion, and was built at a crossing of the River Avon, and was referred to as Cippanhamme in the Anglo-Saxon cronicles. Chippenham town centre is a typical of a Medieval English market town, with stone buildings and a large open market place. Chippenham is the forth most populated place in Wiltshire, after Swindon, Salisbury, and Trowbridge. The A350 connects Chippenham with Melksham, Westbury and Salisbury in one direction, and the M4 and Cirencester in Gloucestershire in the other, whilst the A4 connects the town with the two nearby cities of Bath and Bristol in the other.
