These guys should have been so much bigger. Just like Badlands, they were a huge talent without real support from their record label & it was @ the end of the '80's rock era. Some of the best never get their due !
Agreed, but they just ran out of time before the public's tastes shifted to grunge. They were selling the party when the public was buying the hangover.
Gregg Giuffria is a Legend, being a keyboard player myself, he has inspired my a lot, he truly has a cinematic feel to his style that not many other keyboardists have.
Gregg Giuffria recently performed the old Angel classic "Tower" with Punky Meadows and Frank Dimino. There is a video of it up on CZcams somewhere... Ah, here it is: czcams.com/video/oItbYFIbWA0/video.html These guys are almost 70, and they all still have their chops.
🤘🏼 I was first introduced to Gregg (by my Father) when he was in Angel - I followed his career all the way through Giuffria (2 published alums, the G III album, and also the Camelflouge songs on the "Gotcha!" soundtrack), House of Lords, etc. HUGE influence for me as well, and I still have Giuffria and House of Lords memorabilia in my studio! (Here's some of my Gregg Giuffria collection - czcams.com/video/cYgxlH6odw8/video.html)
Yes! I recently rediscovered this record and I’m blown away by everything- the production, the songs, and the musicianship. The drums in the song Sahara and especially Kiss Of Fire are absolutely killer. Ken Mary is an amazing drummer! 🥁
OMG! I have not seen this since it was originally aired! I was in the audience...James Christian had called me and my roomies to come be their guests at the show. That was so awesome!
+1cajunlady1969 since you were there can you recall the month/year this episode aired? really cool to watch old footage like this because i barely saw Rick Dees late night show. wasn't it on ABC??
House of Lords original drummer, Ken Mary, (seen in this video) is the host of #TheDrummingHallOfFame movie! Feel free to stay in touch with us. Cheers.
I only got into House Of Lords when I first heard of them about 5 years ago when I accidentally came across them online and I'm 48 YEARS OLD. PLUS I'd never heard of the rock Term AOR untill just before that even though I'd heard of Survivor who are an AOR band who EVERYBODY'S heard of. The first House Of Lords song I heard was Battle off the Precious Metal album which I then bought on Amazon and immediately I was hooked I'm still amazed at the amount of AOR bands that I'm still discovering since then,Harem Scarem ,Pride Of Lions Revolution Saints Nightranger etc. The only explaination I can think of why I missed out on these great AOR bands is the fact that I live in Northern Ireland and it seems to be an obscure rock genre because when I mention it to other rock fans they've never heard of it. Come to think of it other forms of entertainment I like are unusual over eg I love American Football 🏈 but not soccer⚽
Doug Played all the solos on the sahara album except "laydown staydown" and "american babylon". He was once asked about his contribution on the sahara record on Doug's offical message board, and thats what he told. he was not mentioned in the credits, because he could'nt join the band on a permanent level, because he formed burning rain. i'm a big big fan of doug and I know exactly what he sounds like and how he's playing. And its his sound and his style that you hear in the solos on the album.
Thanks for sharing...I met Gene Simmons on this show during House of Lords Practice...I had friends who worked on the show. and I was playing with the sound buttons on Rick Dees table during practice...I guess one of the guys from House of Lords enjoyed the button that I was playing with.....I almost caught the paper airplane at the end of the show....15:06 in the video ...standing up....Good Times!
I remember seeing this back in the day. House Of Lords was great, and Gene Simmons sure was the Proud Papa in the audience! (He was their Executive Producer, and was responsible for turning Giuffria, the band, into House Of Lords) Rick Dees may have been a bit of a douche, but it was great that he had them on his show!
Lanny Cordola - guitar, backing vocals (1988-1990, 2000-2005) Michael Guy - guitar, backing vocals (1990-1991) Dennis Chick - guitar, backing vocals (1991-1993)..Doug only played a few shows with them but never recorded any music in the studio
Wasn't Craig Goldie in Dio for that album with "I Could Have Been a dreamer" on it? Or was it someone else? I can picture the guitarist for Dio at that time wearing some crazy long sleeves?? Would be after Vivian Campbell...
jenraider72 name of the album is Dream Evil (1987) you are correct Craig Goldie played guitar on that record after he replaced Vivian Campbell in 1985-86.

Still Loving Greg Jeffrey what a throwback going to see the 80 I never got the good bands and never got the drift desserts I love 80s😮😮
I like House of Lords.
But I wish Giuffria didn't have to be sacrificed to form the band.
2023 and HOL is still pumping out great music. Great band with amazing singer.
Gregg Giuffria, sicilian origin, Ustica Island, Palermo province. If they haven't changed him.
this version of can't find my way home, got me instantly,i knew this band was underrated

Met them at the mall in Kalmazoo Michigan the day before their show. Seem like great guys, too

@@CrimsonThorns glad to have made your day better
Wish the first three albums were on Spotify why aren’t they
Memories!! James, Chuck, Ken, Gregg and Doug!💯🔥🔥🔥
A time when bands were musicians. Today, what they call music, I can't think of any words to describe it.
That is indeed Doug Aldrich
Dean Edwards ha ha, well spotted. Watched him the last to nights with Dead Daisies. And watched House of Lords to night!
Thank you for clearing that up! I kept looking at him KNOWING that was Doug. Had to go check Wiki, lol!

LONG LIVE GLAM METAL!!
Angel Guiffria & House Of Lords.....3 greatest bands ever created....
Deep purple , rainbow and black sabbath , with ufo priest zeppelin and triumph right behind them
A VERY young Doug Aldrich....this band was criminally under-supported by their label. Such a shame.
House of Lords is a great band with brilliant albums, my favorite being Sahara.
Banda espetacular
FYI all you Doug fans...he still has great hair!!!
House Of Lords ❤🎼😍🎸
Doug Aldrich played most of the guitars on Sahara, but wasn't credited.
Yup, Michael guy played like on one song, so did Lanny Cordolla, Rick Nielsen, Robin Zander & Chris impellitteri. but Doug did 90%
He plays guitar in Glenn Hughes's band.....🎸🔥👊
Doug Aldrich....🎸🔥👊
Ken Mary is awesome
La Casa de los Señores Rocks!
brilliant brilliant band!
house of lords, excelente banda
Saw them in Kalamazoo Michigan. they oened for Nelson, but they're performance was much better in my opinion
TRES Cool
Love them!

James Christian is married to Robin Beck. Lucky bastard.
Great band
Lanny Cordola - guitar, backing vocals (1988-1990, 2000-2005)
Michael Guy - guitar, backing vocals (1990-1991)
Dennis Chick - guitar, backing vocals (1991-1993)..Doug only played a few shows with them but never recorded any music in the studio

.
Yes he is!
🤤😍 House of Lords....

No lip syncing here. They sound amazing. Saw them open for Nelson that year in SLC. Amazing show. HOL is still killing it today.
Ken Mary is a beast
Thank you for the kind words!!

xo
yep
I met them on a airplane in Seattle
James still sounds great.
Check out Ken Mary and Chuck Wrights new band with JIMI BELL
It's that James wife Robin Beck on backing vocals?
Lords of Lords (اللہ تعالیٰ)-
I remember thinking Rick Dees was super cool, and now I can't believe how lame he was!
House Of Lords have always been great!!!
OK Doug is a super virtuoso, but I still prefer Lanny Cordola, in fact his skills are very similar.
I recognised Doug soloing - a massively underrated guitarist
No he’s not. Lol. Get a grip
It was Guiffria i met with Craig Goldie
thats Craig Goldie from Dio playing guitar
James looks alot like Blackie.
ahh I meant bad moon rising, not burning rain... that was later...
Can anyone please tell me who exactly was in this lineup of House Of Lords for this performance? Thanks.
AudiophileTubes
James Christian - vocals
Greg Giuffria - keyboards
Chuck Wright - Bass
Doug Aldrich - Guitar
Ken Mary - Drums
No fuggin lip syncing from James.
is that Miss Beck doing backgrounds?
Is Doug playing a Series 10 guitar in "Chains of Love"????
Man... I had two Series 10 guitars in the 80’s.
Is that doug aldrich?
oops Doug musta took Craigs spot when he joined dio on Dream Evil
Craig Goldie never played with House of Lords he only worked with Greg Giuffria and his band
Does anyone know the date this was filmed?
I believe March 1991.
looks like gene let the lead singer borrow one of his wigs lol
19991=Just prior to the godawful surge of the filthy grunge!!!!
DISRESPECTFUL how they put Guiffria way back there instead of sidestage opposite the guitar.
Yes, very! Made me real angry, like he was separate from the rest of the band. Plus, he's a showPIECE. Was dying for good view! ☮️
Is this before or after Rick Dees came out of the closet?
I would kill a man to have a voice like that. No, really. who do you want killed?
Wow, Rick Dees was never funny, was he? I've followed Gregg Giuffria since his days in Angel, awesome musician!
