    In this video I repair a faulty volt meter gauge on a 2005 Ford F.150 King Ranch. The gauge failed due to a faulty stepper motor. We do not have a good source for that stepper motor, so we use a similar new stepper motor and we take the internal parts from it and put it into the old bad motor. If you have gauge issues on your 04-08 F150, you can send it to us. We charge only $100 for the repair. Here is a link where you can purchase the mail-in repair service.

    After six beers, I had the gauge cluster removed from the truck . One beer and five minutes latter , the cluster somehow got smashed with a large ball-peen hammer . Some jobs are just best left to the professional . Great video

    Hello Great Video! Can you point me in the right direction? My cluster was acting up, turning off. I took it apart and soldered over a few areas. Cluster work fine now except that now the air bag light is on all the time. I went over all areas I soldered and I dont see anything wrong. What do you think could be the problem, is there something I missed? Please help. Thanks

      Mine was the brake light issue that later turned into the full gage beeping, dying, then waking up 20 seconds later. The brake light was out due to a resistor that unsoldered from the board. I then resoldered EVERY SINGLE solder joint. Worked perfectly. Now the oil pressure gauge motor took a shit. Back it it comes 🤦 fricken Ford

    What would you say is the reason the brake light stays on. I have wiggled the left top plug and it has gone off but then comes back on. Also the dome light comes on while driving and goes off. Happens at different times. I can pound on top of the dash and light will go off. I have the covers off exposing the instrument cluster. Still bolted in and plugs still hooked up. Do you guys do a diagnostic on the panel..? How much..?

    • @AutomotiveCircuitSolutions

      Yes we repair these on a daily. The problem is internal to the cluster. The repair cost is $140. Repair doesn't just resolve that issue, these have multiple issues that wee address while we're in there. The repair will have a lifetime warranty on it. I’m told my cluster on my 2005 f-150 might be faulty. Could the temperature gauge creep up then peg hot after 5 miles or so be a symptom of this? An Engine Power Reduced message comes up on the screen when this happens also? We’ve changed everything else including cooling system components and sensors.
    If this could be the issue I’d like to send mine to you ASAP. Looking forward to a response.

      Same thing happened on my 2004 f150. Some days it would read normal then others would bury the needle past hot. After switching out the entire instrument cluster w/ a used instrument cluster it worked perfectly.
      Side note: the instrument cluster I used to replace mine reads that it has 50,000 more miles than mine actual does. Crazy that the odometer stores the mileage on the instrument cluster that can be easily swapped

    • @AutomotiveCircuitSolutions
      @AutomotiveCircuitSolutions  Před 6 lety

      You may have had a stepper motor that was about to fail and when you got in there to fix the display you sped up the failure by disturbing it. We have had that before. You need to replace the motor.

    • @TymmVonD
      @TymmVonD Před 6 lety

      Automotive Circuit Solutions I fixed the odo by soldering a tiny wire to bridge the connection where the trace was burnt on pin 6. Right where the pin 90s on the display. Works great now. Fixed speedo by going into test mode and moving the needle to the write spot while it would sweep and stop at min and max. Got it all set. I lucked out. Thanks for replying.

    • @mikec376
      @mikec376 Před 4 lety

      @@bertveldhuizen8699 hey, looking at the cluster with the gauges removed under the right plug there are 2 resistors with a chip close by (i probably have the names wrong) but applying finger pressure would get things working again. I reheated the solder on the 2 resistors and got things working again. However, a few weeks later the gauges would read zero with all the lights turning on - like it entering reset mode.
      In the end i replaced the cluster with an FX4 model, i've lost the Lariat computer, but prefer the look of the FX.
      good luck in resolving yours - might not be worth the hassle.

      I soldered mine for the brake light error too. One of the times reinstalling, I accidentally misaligned the odometer posts so it lit up if I remember right, but didn't display mileage.
      Brake light is fixed now. Odometer is seated right. 5k miles later and the oil pressure gauge is acting possessed... Might just be soaked in oil and shorting the ground out.

    • @AutomotiveCircuitSolutions
      @AutomotiveCircuitSolutions  Před 5 lety

      The radio, power windows and dome light circuits all go through the gauge cluster, so battery drains are commonly misdiagnosed on these truck. Unhooking the cluster or pulling the cluster fuse will make the drain go away but that doesnt mean the drain is coming from the cluster. Most commonly its the dome light that drain the batteries on those trucks. Theres a wire just upstream of the dome light under the headliner the rubs out and causes a batter drain, thats where I would start.

    • @donaldwilson4670
      @donaldwilson4670 Před 5 lety

      Automotive Circuit Solutions That may have put me on the right path. I have an OBD bluetooth reader that connects to my tablet for gauges. Once I unplugged that and waited a few minutes it seems to have dropped to 40 ma within spec. If it's dead again tonight I'll look at whether the alternator is backfeeding though a coil. Seems odd having that OBD transmitter plugged in would keep it from fully sleeping since I think the ECU goes fully off with key off.
