I bought this album as soon as it came out, and this was my favourite song. Last track on side 2. Still love it now. At the time I was doing O Levels, and my English teacher gave me a book to read called Brighton Rock by Graham Greene. Kolly Kibber was the journalist who is killed by Pinkie Brown in chapter one.

For some strange reason, I always associate the lyrics of this song with Leto II, The God Emperor from Frank Herbert's novel...Heck alone knows why, though it's probably to do with the line 'my heart's chemical incendiaries' along with the song's esoteric motivations. Herbert himself was something of a righteous visionary in many ways, so perhaps Julian would approve? In any case super-spectacular track, deffo one of my faves from the early period.
