- Second video of the 'Quiet Cy-Fi' ('cyber fiction') project, a series of audio ambiences, flavoured with a cyber\tech\futuristic atmosphere.
Calm, lulling, introspective, immersive, a bit mysterious perhaps.
In this ambience, you sit at the main terminal of a server room in the futuristic basement floor of a data-center, with no one around except you and the (very, very) droning machines. You dig in the endless mole of information flowing in the flashing nano-circuits.

One final note:
I, personally, find this kind of stuff immensely helpful for any kind of concentrated (studying, working etc.) and/or relaxed state of mind. I also find it particularly good for immersion (writing, rpg etc.).
Of course it is a personal preference of mine, and I have created this ambience primarly for myself, but I really wished to share it in case there could be other people benefiting from this project.

My dad took me to work with him a few times when he was a flight simulator tech at NASA, and the big computer room sounded just like this.

I have a pretty similar story but it was just a regular server for air traffic control instead of a server room at NASA, it was kinda relaxing listening to the servers doing its job.

I got to visit CERN’s dataCenter (and a few more), it was a lot noisier than that 😂 you’re lucky to still have ears after visiting a center like that

Well, any kind of storage device uses electrons to work, and i doubt this will change for a long time, if ever. And that means they will always emit heat, which needs to be dumped somehow. And for that, i doubt heat exchange with the atmosphere would ever go out of fashion. It is just simply an efficient, cheap and easy way of dumping heat, and fans are as simple as it can get when moving air around to achieve that. There are already alot more advanced ways of dumping heat for non atmosphere environments, but why use them when you can just use fans to do the job 100 times cheaper and more efficiently? No need to invent the wheel again...

I like that the sounds are not repetitive... as in, theres a variety of sounds, sometimes you'll here bubbles as if from experiments in the background, or an occasional echo-ey beeps, as well as walkie-talkie noises -- very techy and sci-fi haha

Out of all the ambient noise videos on CZcams, I keep coming back to this one. It has the perfect amount of blips and bloops without getting distracting, and the server fans are just the right pitch. The other ones on here tend to overdo it.
Except this is no way how a real server room sounds. Seriously, the pitch is all wrong.
I spend all day in a real datacenter. With headphones on. I wish it really sounded like this.

Played this with some Deus Ex: Mankind Divided ambience while writing a lab report for college late at night in my study, best vibes ever.
Allow me to introduce those who haven't heard of this yet to the wonders of multi tabs... Let other tabs playing in the background with spaceship noises, radio chatter, etc... Adds even more depth to the experience.

i already feel like i live on a spaceship. the house creaks and pings, the smoke alarms beep, the computer buzzes, the damn furnace sounds like a jet engine taking off and the refrigerator sounds like its dialing oldschool dial-up or sending a fax.

man the loud speeches outside, the singing. This helps a ton, on a speaker 100% volume, drowns it alright

Ahh figures that IT in the future still has limited funding for their own stuff. All that fancy server equipment to make everyone elses lives easier, but the sysadmin is still using two ancient Dell P1911 monitors. :-P
Eh, can't beat the cost, availability, and simplicity of an old LCD monitor. Though I'm pretty sure everything else would be state-of-the-art (Dozens of 200 Zetabyte HDDs, 80 Terabytes of RAM per stack, Petabit Network Cards, and probably several 500 Phz CPUs in each Stack. You kinda need it for processing and decrypting all the detailed scan data. Espescially if you wanna sell data on entire systems to the Cartographic Guild).

Mid 1980,s Worked in a similar environment. There was more sound. The equipment gave off an oppressive kind of heat I cannot describe. Vax Cluster & IBM, ICL. Mainframes....I have grown another head since those times..
This video and background image are super helpful for grad school homework. I've got the Bose QC 35 wireless headphones (noise cancelling) paired to my laptop, it's totally immersive.
The true irony of this, is that anytime I actually have to go into a server room, it's because bad shit is going on.
I thought this was quite relaxing at first... but after a while, my mind imagined this server room to be on the USS Ishimura. And then this quite literally became the most unrelaxing :D
I love immersive background ambience like this. I'd like to suggest further exercises in imagination, perhaps the SHIELD Helicarrier bridge, the Addams Family living room, a communications room in the BPRD ( Hellboy) bunker, or the bridge of Captain Nemo's NAUTILUS. Maybe even the basement bunker of the X-Files characters, The Lone Gunmen, during a long night assembling their next conspiracy tract. The Helicarrier bridge has special attraction to me, since I'm a SHIELD geek from my childhood.

You should really credit Neil Gowland for the use of his image. Followed the development of that awesome environment on Polycount and he put a lot of work into it.
This image had been sitting in my hard disk for quite some time before even deciding to make this video, and it probably came from a random search of Google Images (as far as I can remember, and I really cannot); I had no idea where it actually came from until now, so thank you for telling me, I'm writing a note right away.
