    In this video, I cover what we found on a truck with low compression. Troubleshooting and finding the root cause of failure is very important. If the root cause is not found a repeat failure may occur. The DD15 in the video had a complaint of low power. Be sure to follow PSL before condemning any parts and be sure to have experienced professionals conduct any repairs on the engine. Failure to do so may result in a more expensive repair.

    Thank you Adam. Good job. Some people would think this is a bad design for a valve failure with just over 400k miles. They have to remember, it's not just the miles, it's also the added hours of running idle. Have a blessed and safe week to you and your family. Happy Thanksgiving.

    Just a fore warning from a freightliner mechanic in maryland when you start getting the gen 5 motors in with dropped exhaust bridges do yourself a favor and just drop the pan and check the wrist pin on that cylinder seems to be building to much pressure in that cylinder and blowing bushings/ bearings in wrist pin

    • @mike5162
      @mike5162 Před 10 měsíci

      I’m a 35 year Detroit tech and I approve this message. I’ve seen this multiple times. The problem is that warranty won’t pay to drop the pan and inspect for this. after the adjustment screws are replaced and you still hear popping out the intake then you check for spun cam lobes because the lobes are pressed onto the shaft the increased pressure due to the exhaust valves being closed all the time they can spin. But when I’ve seen this happen the wrist pin bushing will come apart and crack the liner and let coolant into the oil. Detroit ruined the DD engine with the gen 5. They are going to put them out of business. These changes are all due to the new EPA regulations. I’m all for clean air but enough is enough.

    Hey Adam I have a question that no one has been able to solve yet. A few months back the number one injector went bad on my dd15. I had it replaced and ever since whenever I'm under a heavy load the engine will cough a couple of times when going back to throttle when coming off a hill. The problem is sporadic. And as long as I crowd into the throttle it doesn't happen , it's only when easing back into the throttle. And it's only when I'm loaded heavy 35000 Plus. The scenario goes something like this, I pull a steep grade reach the top and cruise back down off throttle. When the terrain flattens out and I ease back into the throttle to maintain speed the truck shakes violently for a couple seconds then Smooths out but if I stomp down on the throttle and then back off it doesn't do it. I've asked several mechanics and other drivers with dd15 and no one seems to have had this issue.

      I have a 2010 cascadia 12.8L I’ve been losing power as of late. When my check engine light turns on my engine immediately misfires, my rpms decline and my diesel drains. I’ve plugged it into computer and got SPN1327 as the lookup code indicating cylinder # 5 misfire.
      Is it my fuel injector? Does it have to be replaced or can it be cleaned?
      I also think it could be due to a leak coming out of my high pressure fuel line? I have pictures if anyone could tell me what this is.

    What would be the best maintenance to have good valve seating?
    I have seen a few DD15 have low compression on cylinder 6 from engine with 300k miles to engines with 700k?
