    What I don’t think gets enough credit is Penn’s eloquence when communicating. He speaks like a seasoned author would write, always finds a way to gracefully compliment without coming across as fake. Class act. Also Dani is an unbelievable talent so not that hard a sell in this case but hearing a legend of the game talk about him like this will mean the world.

    • @ricobarth
      @ricobarth Před rokem +8

      I think people are pretty aware that Penn's eloquence is as important to their success as any technical talents that he or Teller have. And Dani, who need impress no one at this point, would be more concerned with Teller. You can tell by who looks at who. After the reveal, Osmond looks to Penn to validate his "that's crazy, right?", but Penn looks to Teller.

    I watched Dani's routine 3 times now. I don't even care how he does it. I'm doing it out of pure joy. Is the best routine I've seen on the show. The magicians that impressed me the most on the show are from Spain: Dani, Jandro and Javi Benitez.

      100%. On other acts I've paused and played it in 0.25 speed to be able to spot the trick, but never on this one. I just want to have fun, be amazed and don't want to know how he does it, I just want to be a child that sees real magic.

      I could be way off base, but I think this trick incorporates vortex mathematics. i.e. fibonacci sequence, golden triangle etc. This is one of the most beautiful patterns in nature and I think its the crux of this piece.

      Believe it or not, he's just using basic techniques that even amateur magicians are familiar with, like memorizing the deck order (notice the cards are not shuffled prior to him starting his routine), false cuts, palming, pinky breaks, forcing, and so on. It's just that he's exceptionally good at it, and his use of misdirection is masterclass.

    This and Richard Turner's act are my two favorite of all time on Penn and Teller. Richards act because of the mechanical skill, Dani's act because of the how factor. If that is mechanical skill and sleight of hand then I am blown away.

    • @amacuro
      @amacuro Před rokem +6

      It certainly is all sleight of hand and quick mind and quick fingers. If you watch the act again, you will see he's constantly touching, handling, cutting and manipulating the cards in a seemingly random and useless way, but that's where all the magic is happening.

    I think it was eight years ago, I was staying in Sevilla for a couple of weeks. My first night there I met a guy doing card magic in a bar, I introduced myself and told him Im also into magic. He told me that a few weeks later Dani Daortiz and Lennart Green were going to have a performance together in a theater, and so I went to see them perform. I am so thankful to have experienced that. These two legends sharing a stage. I dont understand how anyone can be that entertaining and magical with just one deck of cards. And both Danis and Lennarts stage personalities are so sweet, all the jokes are on their own expenses. The way Dani was able to go on this television show and perform so flawlessly and so entertaining, I just cant believe it
