- The plaintiff claims she was forced to put up a privacy fence because her creepy neighbor, the defendant, took pictures of kids in their bathing suits and sprayed them with a hose. He even put dead cats on her porch. She says he should pay half the cost of the fence, so she’s suing. The defendant says all was fine with his neighbor until the plaintiff got two cats that wander everywhere. He insists he took pictures of sewage in his yard, not the plaintiff’s kids and grandkids

"they're fat, they're lethargic, i'm happily married, and I have no desire" is unnecessary and deserved to be called out by the judge. He was trying hard to make himself look like the good guy by complimenting her dog in court (which was weird in itself) and repeatedly bringing up his religion as if that means anything.
In other words, "If they were skinny and I was single, then they'd be fair game."

On the plaintiffs side, why would a renter spend $10,000 on a fence they will likely be leaving behind at some point? Why wouldn't the landlord have footed the bill?
If I honestly thought my neighbor was of a particular persuasion, I would be pulling up stakes, why take aⁿ risk with the grandchildren?
On the defendants side, he is a Seventh-day Adventist which I am sure was pointed out multiple times to bolster his character, yet he's calling children names?
And why would he mention he is "Happily married", when the subject of the grandchildren is raised, that really stuck out to me.
After 5 years, my husband recently rotated out of a unit in the facility he's employed at, which housed those that would harm children, and sorry but the defendant definitely gives off a vibe.
Do I believe he has that propensity? Of course I have no way of knowing, but something is not right on that side of the fence!!

I agree about him not having to pay half of the fence cost. That would set a bad precedence of neighbors putting up really expensive fences and then charging their neighbors for half the cost without the neighbor having any say so in type or cost of a fence.

Makes me wonder about the judge when it just seems like she was already siding with the defendant when the plaintiff starts to explain her case. She should have easily said several times in the beginning, "Wow taking a pic of your guests and dead cats are being placed on your doorstep? Doesn't sound neighborly or right!" and the judge quickly points out the plaintiff taking a pic of the defendant.
The video the defendant presented as evidence doesn't show what he was saying the kids were doing and the judge doesn't point that out. Defendant insults the plaintiff's grandchildren and the judge only says "What does that mean?", instead cutting him down like he needed. Then she laughs at what he said in court in another court/case about liberals.
No matter what, the judgment was correct because she is a renter and should have went to her landlord to offset the cost.
The judge may just be the type who is nosy with her neighbors and probably would be more nosy if they are people of color. Maybe. Just because you're a Latina, a person of color and watch adult cartoons, known your bailiff for years and are friends with Judge Mathis doesn't mean you don't have an uncomfortability with certain people of color or that you aren't low key racist. Some people are just comfortable with people of color from afar and in certain settings.
