Aaron currently works as a senior director at an open source intelligence company he helped found. He also helped found a nonprofit working to protect the U.S.’s critical infrastructure and technological edge. He advises DoD, CIA, the National Security Council, Department of Commerce, and numerous big tech companies, and is a guest lecturer at Georgetown's School of Foreign Service.

i've gone back to re-watch this episode on multiple occasions.. this episode was eye-opening and fascinating, as Aaron provides vivid details of some of the most infamous moments of the GWOT from the perspective of a CIA officer assigned to work on intelligence related to the highest-valued targets in the war on terrorism.

I love this podcast. Anyone interested in geopolitics or war history needs to listen to this. Fun fact: Al-Bawali’s wife wrote the book, “Osama bin Laden: Che Guevara of the East,” and later joined ISIS after Turkey knowingly let her cross into Syria (they do that a lot and should be kicked out of NATO). She wanted to put her “journalistic skills” to use for ISIS but quickly fucked around and found out they have no use for women for anything other than brides. She married and divorced 2 jihadis in quick succession and then disillusioned tried to cross back into Turkey where she was captured and is currently being held by the YPG.
Where did you find the book?
Yeap I have no idea why we are still partner with turkey. They are really bad at supporting terrorist groups but not supporting them at the same time. Like the Kurds. They fight the Kurds. The Kurds fight ISIS. We wanted the Kurds to help fight ISIS in Syria too along with the other Kurds and sdf and all the other groups but we couldn't be seen to be working with them because of turkey 😂. The politics of all this stuff is krazy😂

I know its hard because of time restraints and schedule issues but I think having in person interviews is what you guys need to do. A major threat to the Chinese CCP Gov is its disastrous economic management. That will change very quickly and have a major impact. When the Chinese CCP was facing famines in the 50s and 60s the US supplied China with the technology to mass produce vital fertilizers. Oil is vital for those products and China is still highly dependent on imports by ship. China's economic boom was possible due to US support of free trade in the South China Sea. China is trying to destabilize the South China Sea which is vital. The Chinese movie industry is now independent of the US. Able to make modern special effects. Chinese students are still free to travel to top universities around the world. With unknown CCP control. Chiba continues to steal US and foreign technologies. With the CCP under threat it will be unpredictable. The CCPs top priority is itself. The Chinese people its likely victims when their economy collapses. And the USA will get the blame for CCP blunders. There is a major failing in Chinese real estate and banking. And huge military investment. To gain national support the CCP could occupy Taiwan. A long focus of CCP propaganda.
I was pulling security at Salerno when the suicide bomber hit Chapman and killed those CIA agents, and I can honestly say they made a massive blunder. Under no circumstances do you compromise your security for someone that is coming from across the border and isn’t escorted by American or Coalition forces that have already cleared him. The very least you have them do is open or pull up their jacket or shirt to clear the waist and chest.
We were all shocked when that happened because we heard the blast and got the word to get all the afghan workers off the base immediately. Then we got briefed on what happened and I remember standing there shaking my head at how complacency won again. Many others realized how right I was about being consistent with respect to searches and not compromising your security.
Really interesting insights here. The suicide vest was putting BBs through steel beams at 100m away? Effective range of a claymore is 50m and casualty range is 100m. No wonder they got caught out.

Good cop bad cop during the interview process. I remember ICE playing that game with me. One agent is my friend, we could hang out, we are a lot alike. The other ICE agent is a #ick. He was intentionally trying to piss me off. Games in all aspects of life. Boot camp was a game, the entire time.

There was $9.5 million in extra funding for Z-Backscatter vans in 2005, one of many purchases from American Science and Engineering. It's a shame one wasn't sent to FOB Chapman. AS&E could only work so fast I'm sure.

@@shmooligan4550 When I first heard about the Z-backscatter vans I took a great interest in their use to fight terrorism. It wasn't hard to keep informed of purchases, like two for NYC for example. The tech is amazing, you just drive along a street and can get a sort of X-ray of parked cars. For FOB Chapman they could have left one sitting still, hidden inside a container at the entrance.
There were multiple rounds of Z-backscatter purchases for years prior to Chapman. I'm amazed they didn't send a unit there.

I thought the fake doctor was the one who blew himself up and ive heard the Osama thing many different ways. One version says the Pakistanis knew he was there because they locked him up and he was actually in prison and couldn't leave. Like that compound was his prison or something. Then i heard that the way he was killed or the way they say he was killed was not what happened. Suppose to have been that the one person who shot him wasn't actually the only person to shoot him. That he was actually shot by every member of that team or atleast everyone that was in that room.

And comento find out there a channel that they run a lot of ops through that all the parner nations has access to too and they believe that one of the partner nations read the op and gave him a head up. so one group decided to to stop running stuff though that system and to keep stuff more in house and close when dealing with ops. Here a conspiracy theory:
The OSS (forerunner of the CIA) was covertly invoved in the Nuremberg trials.
They have introduced evidence (with affidavids) which today is to my understanding disputed by places like Yad Vashem in Israel, the US holocaustmuseum and a lot of mainstream historians.
You can find ot about it when you compare the OSS membership list (opened to the public since 2008).
if anyone is interested i can provide a example exactly where to find it or atleast some of it.
Keep in mind they followed the following rules:

Why do i risk legal trouble and even jail for saying the same things that Yad Vashem in Israel, the USholocaustmuseum and leading jewish historians (Yehuda Bauer, Raul Hillberg and David Cesarani) and other mainstream historians (e.g. Jean-Claude Pressac) say/said, not even speaking about the revisionists because all of those mentioned say different things for which germans were tried, imprisoned and executed for and still risk jail over.
Most recently (in the last few years) the USholocaustmuseum seems to have stated things about Majdanek that go against what the staff there says and what germans were tried, imprisoned and executed for.
Older, simmilar cases, that now get ignored are Bergen Belsen, Dachau and Buchenwald.
It has been admitted to torture to get confessions and to get stuff on others at this trials. If you are interested in this look at Bad Nenndorf, the London Cage and the Simpson Army Comission which investigated some of this claims and found them credible (Malmedy trial). This comission even made it in front of the US goverment but i don`t think anything came from it.

Seriously!
