Why wouldn't you use an AN fitting on the reservoir return as well?

It looks so good. I think I'm going to order one kit soon and more in the future. Traditional hoses with clamps are so bad... One thing is I still don't know how do you determine half of the tank, but that material catching additional fluid is great solution.
If you don't mount cooler what can possibly go wrong? Your pump can get cooked if you drift too much?

Chase Bays PS Kit w/Cooler is a handsome neat kit. Mine had issues primarily with the whine or humming sound when parallel parking. With a new pump, a new steering rack, and a new Chase PS Kit w/Cooler installed and properly torqued, bled, etc. you would assume there will be no issues whatsoever, but unfortunately I experienced the annoying, constant noise somewhere in between the hoses and AN fittings. My kit had no visible leaks anywhere in between the hoses or AN fittings. Baffle reservoir always shows tiny micro bubbles despite bleeding the lines numerous times. I don’t have any leaks, but there’ was air in the power steering loop. The whine and hum was getting louder overtime, but yet I couldn’t locate where air was pulling in. I went ahead and checked the power steering pressure and also applied vacuum through the reservoir to see if it would hold 15 PSI and or 15 Hg and surprisingly it did not. I went ahead and bought OEM hoses and clamps and installed them with the OEM cooler and Chase Bays baffled reservoir (exchanged AN for clamp fittings). To my surprise, it turned out great. Hum/Whine was finally over. Issues were in between the AN and hoses. Also 6 months ago, my high pressure line from the pump to rack burst open from the 90 degree elbow near the rack high pressure banjo bolt. Chase Bays sent me a replacement under warranty hassle free. The E46 M3 S54 Kit is retailed for under $400 and is currently under revision and hopefully when it is available for purchase, Chase will consider a complimentary exchange for my early defective hoses or for a small fee.

@@G33ZiM3 I'm having this same issue. May I ask how you applied vacuum to the reservoir? It looks like the thread diameter of the reservoir cap is 1.25" - my idea was to see if a 1.25" PVC cap will fit so I can fit a nipple to it and run a vacuum pump.

There has been PS fluid leaking from the fittings since day 1. At first I didn't tighten the fittings enough. So I did and now it's sweating PS fluid from the swivel joints. I'm starting to regret my purchase. Not only did I experience poor shipping from Chase Bays but now I'm dealing with this mess. I'm just going to stick with genuine parts like I should have.

I'm gonna be really honest here. I installed my high pressure line (or the line that link from the steering rack to the pump) just how it was demonstrated here and now the swivel end attached to the rack is hitting my motor mount and doesn't allow the rack to be properly mounted on the subframe. Is it safe to flip the line and have the banjo bolt end on the rack and the swivel part on the pump? Because that would give me enough clearance to properly install the rack onto the subframe without hitting the motor mounts. I drive a 91 BMW 318i airbag version w/m42 engine.
