I have that but it’s not my physical tbr it’s on my kindle. Although surprisingly I am getting through them faster than expected. If I don’t buy anymore and focus on finishing them that’s about 4 years worth of reading sorted 😂

I think you need to understand that not only are you an inspiration to watch anime and read manga but you got me to read classics.
I have been a reader all my life but because I was a math/science magnet student, I wasn’t in a lot of English/Literature classes. My whole school day was filled with math classes or a few extracurricular classes.
So girl I want to thank you for inspiring me to pick up some classic literature. Forever grateful because I have been enjoying so many.

Me tooo~ I literally thought I'd never pick up classics, at least knowing how much I hate (ish) the ones in my country but then Bella happened and suddenly I found myself buying the count of monte cristo, Anna Karenina, pride&prejudice and letters to a young poet 🥹🥹

@@LexieMoon321I actually read a bunch this month. I read a few Agatha Christie and really enjoyed them. I also read a short story collection from Shirley Jackson and another from Henry James. I was trying to read any spooky classic recommendations. So I’m currently reading The Haunting of Hill House and Turn of the Screw. I’m saving Frankenstein and Dracula for this weekend. I also have the Crucible, Carmilla, Dorian Gray, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Rebecca on my TBR next. I don’t have a favorite quite yet but I’m dipping my toes into anything right now and I’m enjoying all of them.

The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is one of my all time favourite classics - I ranked it significantly higher than Jane Eyre & Wuthering Heights!

I have only 3 books on my tbr lol, but that's bc i read ebooks and then buy the books i loved and want to have in my collection, or there is also sometimes the case when i buy books before reading but i definitely know my taste well and so far even those books were a success

Nice overview of your TBR books, it's impressive how many books you've already read :) You say one continuous poem for Ovid but they are divided into smaller sections even within the 15 book divide. There are also more spaces between the lines so it's easier to approach. Some sections are 80 or 50 lines some are 15 lines. The book has a mix of characters being dramatic and extra but also has some horrific tales and tragic ones.
As far as I remember after the first few lines and the world building of creation (which has some technical terms and more name dropping of gods, lands and waters) the language seemed easier. For me the tone sometimes seems like ghost stories around the campfire where people share stories to tell. Btw. Read whenever you want and don't worry about having to read it.

GIRL!! Don't be intimidated to read North & South, I absolutely loved it, one of my favouritessss, though it's reaaaally slow-burn in my opinion, but tackles a lot of different interesting topics imo.

You're the only person who can make reading classics sound like a good and fun experience and not a chore. Maybe I'm the problem, but to me everyone else just sound condescending when recommending them. I love pride and prejudice, read multiple times, and hated the wuthering heights (wanna give it another chance because I was really young and naive when I read it) lol. But the day will come when I read "the count of Monte Cristo" and it will be all because of you, and any other one that comes.
i love this so much 🥹🫶 for what it's worth i'm not the biggest fan of wuthering heights in my opinion it's horribly overhyped and blown out of proportion 💀 whenever you get to the count of monte cristo i hope you have the time of your life 😭💖
31 books is AMAZING! Especially when 10 of them are manga. I'm currently at 38 books, but 10 of them are Hobb books, so I have no clue when I'll get to all of them. I also have A Christmas Carol and Oliver Twist on my TBR!

Highly recommend Godkiller! Also thought Fragile Threads of Power was a really good jump back into the world (even though I can't stand the Lila/Kell pairing).
Godkiller is definitely going to be the first book I read come November 1st 😩✊

Golden Kamuy sounds like it would be an interesting read I'll have to check it out. I am so excited to be able to read Evocation. I read A Dowry of Blood this year and I adored it so much. It is my favorite book of the year so far. I have 123 unread books. My goal is to be under 75 books.

I was also inspired by Emmie to get The Iliac Crest and Frankenstein in Baghdad! I want to start the Iliac Crest soon, it sounds so intriguing. According to Emmie, it's also about gender and our assumptions of gender as the main character is actually supposed to be unnamed and ungendered.

Oliver Twist is such a memorable read, you'll love him or you have no heart 😄
I also loved Interview with the vampire and Lestat is on my tbr!
And The tenant of Wildfell hall is great, it aged very well and the main themes are really interesting and it leaves you thinking. But IMO Anne's writing is not exactly as good as her sisters'. Still a genius though, don't get me wrong.
I'm happy to know Anne's work aged well considering a lot of popular classics don't 😩💖 I'm so excited to get to it and Oliver Twist as well!

Have you watched or read Bungo stray dogs?If nit please try it! The characters are based on real life author's like Fyodor Dostoevsky, Agatha Christie,Osamu Dazai ! I will recommend the manga after you finish watching the anime and after reading manga you can try reading the light novels! Believe me its worth it!

i counted all the books on my physical tbr in january too and i had a total of 30 🥲 my goal was to downsize it by like 40-50%, but so far i have only read 4 of them and i bought 6 new ones (out of which i have read 2). so all in all you are doing a whole lot better than me 🥹🫶
