English with Lucy My mother tongue is Portuguese as it is spoken in Brazil. I speak American English and I fell in love with your British accent. Perfect videos! Thank you so much for being you! XOXO 😍🌸😘
Admiring Lucy immediately transmutes in admiring English. Just recall her voice to improve your results in learning on your own. No more! Only voice! :)
Lucy, you have been such a great help in improving my Language skills! I have scored so much better in my Cambridge exam all because of you! I just received my Certificate for clearing level C1 and I am so happy! Thank you so much for making these videos!
English with Lucy Hi Lucy.. Please tell me your lipstick shade.. I love all the shades you wear. Please mention the lipstick shades too in the description. Thanks in advance.
I was born in England, but my son was born in the US, he has had so much trouble with Er, Or and Ir, we found this video and it solved everything. He is 9 and without the stress on these sounds he says the words easy, you are awesome thank-you.
Very helpful! Thanks Lucy! I have faith in God that I'll understand native speakers in the movies, This is my goal. I don't know why but I can understand you but when I'm watching some movies I can't, I can understand just with English subtitles.
Hello, Lucy! You are right i respect of your voice! ... but I hope your are now healthy again. Thank you for your tips. Related to the word GUITAR and why it does not follow the rule of the schwa-sound: The reason is that unlike all the other words, the stress is on the last syllable, so no schwa-sound!!!
Thank you so so much!! Now I'm on an English school, and with the help of you I could improve my english speaking and writing skills. Thank you so so much, really, I mean it!💗💗
As one who has had all too many cases of bronchitis I feel your pain Lucy. Hope you completely get over your bought of this nasty condition soon!!! LOVE your channel, & this episode was great.
Oh my gosh!!!! It dawned on me that you do indeed know a lot about English keep up the good work my amazing teacher I'd rather you talked about connected speach
I really like the way you get across to the people. It's quite hard to figure out what native speakers talk about but anyone could understand them by doing much more practise.that's the secret
I really appreciate the way you explain, for many years i struggle with the british pronunciation. I mean it's not the case i couldn't understand what natives said, the problem was in my accent i sound a mix of american and british , i recently follow your diphthongs series and help me a lot since i really love british accent..:)
When I listen the schwa sound replacing the r sound in british english, it sounds to me a little aspirated, like it had an h sound following the schwa sound.
Lucy... I love you so. Take care I enjoy all your videos and I have learnt so much. Take care and may you and your family have an amazing life and excellent year!!! Hi from venezuela.
you're very awesome teaching me... it so helpuf and useful me most important the way you prounounce step by step it was imagine me if i can be able to become like you.. i from indonesia
I want to be schwa as they are never stressed....☺☺☺......I love your videos, they really helped me....I miss your storytime videos....please make more of them....😘😘get well soon 🌹🌻🌼🌺🌾🌿(sorry!! I am not having bouquet emoji😟)
According to the phoneticians. In British English (among others) people never pronounce the /r/ sound unless is followed by a vowel sound. And the schwa sound is not usually found in stressed syllables. That's kind of a 'rule' for pronouncing the schwa ending.
As an American, I am EXTREMELY impressed when I observe a Brit/Limey say the American English "R" authentically. Dang, that takes real skill/talent/ability. Also, please note that "guitar" does not have a schwa sound because the 2nd syllable is *accented*.
i live in malaysia where students around my age and my race don't really speak english.. but i love english since i was a kid and when i speak in english using british accent, they were laughing at me😂 overall, your video helps me a lot in improving my english.. thank you so much..
I think you can teach "The Art of Seduction" waaay better than English. You pronounce the words in such way that my mind travels to another dimension along with you. Keep up the good work!
Im from Norway, I mainly watch these vids. to help me sort out with the pronunciation because when i talk its a mix between American and British thanks to al ofl the American TV shows here :> Kinda sounds a bit wierd to use both pronunciation for the same word within like 10 mins. And plus you are so pretty :D
I basically speak like an American (actually try to do it haha) but the british accent is so pleasant to my ears. Thanks for the tips. They'll help me a lot when I'm talking to my British friends. cheers from Brazil. :)
Hello Lucy, thanks again for making learning English so simple and interesting. Can you please mention a good book for list of all the pronunciation characters in British English. I take it that I can find how to pronounce them in one of your lovely videos
Thank god I found your channel, I just realized myself that this is my problem with the British accent and just wanted to clarify. Sweet little guide : D
Just found your channel, I'm studying English in a French university, and actually your videos are really helpful and well-made to complete my lessons! Keep Going!
I'd like to forward your videos to my friends, but not all of us can visit CZcams in China. Could I upload your videos to one of Chinese video websites? thanks so much! I've followed your online lesson for half year. you're really a great teacher, helpful and skillful!
Your American accent is simply gorgeous! Trust me, I'm an American, I know these things. Ever hear Aly Williams say "horse" like an American? Oy, like buddah (not "Buddha," it's like the British "butter" with two d's in the middle, and there's your Yinglish word of the day). Great job, Lucy!
Could you do a video about greeting habits in England? :) For example I always get very confused when a cashier greets by saying "how are you?". What should I answer? Like does he really want know how I am doing? :D
Forgot to say that I have found your videos very helpful! Especially those about pronunciation and speaking habits in England, like what to say in different situations etc.
Hi Lucy:) Greetings from Hong Kong! Could you make a video about proper manners in UK? I want to know what manners are impolite under the UK standard, such as what you have said before, being late is rude and opening your mouth in front of others is impolite. Thank you and sorry for my bad English (I am learning!). ^^
almost all of ur videos i had saved on my phone.. bcz thty'r all useful! thks Lucy.. hope to meet ya soon.. But it takes a long time to wait ur new videos
Hi Lucy! I find this pronunciation very difficult as I come from a Spanish speaking country. I don't get where the tongue should go or move.. as we put it right behind our upper teeths .. not to mention the cut sound at the end.. I love your channel and I find it very useful! thanks!
Another difference in the pronunciation of "guitar" is that the last syllable receives the stress. As you said, it's gi-TAR, not GI-tar. I expect that influences whether the ending is likely to end with the schwa. (All of the other examples up to that point end in an unstressed syllable.)
Sometimes you make the t silent and sometimes you pronounce it in the this word “ OFTEN “. But most of the dictionaries and native speakers they don’t pronounce T letter. So i hope you can explain this
