    If you are interested ... Marco is no longer subtitled in the song during the break. He asks the fans there if they would sing the Corus with him.
    And Marco sings with th best backround singer in the world 😎

    "Weasels", Finnish, Sea Shanty... the Beast guitar!

    You got your harmonising at last!

    This "sea shanty" is composed by Marko (lyrics by Tuomas Holopainen). Tampere is the second largest city in Finland (over 200000 inhabitants). This concert took place 31.7.2015 and there were about 23000 people in the audience at the Ratina Stadium. Marko's instrument is a custom made Warwick/Framus Infinity/Panthera double neck bass and guitar. It's a monster that weights over 20 lbs. I get always a little emotional when the band mates joined with him at the end. ⛄👍

      Wasn't this also after his throat surgeries? So he's basically singing with half the vocal chords he once had...

    • @lonelywind3511
      @lonelywind3511 Před 2 lety

      @@kevinfeeney5309 The surgery was in the late 90's. I don't think it damaged the actual vocal chords but did damage a nerve that made some of his prior range unworkable. As near as I could understand the damage eliminated the falsetto he was able to do before and sort of short circuited the normal meshing of the left and right sides of the vocal chords. He put in a lot of work to rebuild the voice he has but it was pretty much done before he joined Nightwish in 2001. He has a book titled "Marco Hietala - Stainless" available from Amazon in which he talks about it.

    Marco probably has a piezo pickup in the guitar. It will make it sound like an acoustic guitar. There's also modeling software that can do that. Also, could have an A/B switch from the bass amp to the guitar amp.

  • @kimfabritiusdetengnagel2038

    "While your lips are still red" Wembley 2015 is a must. Marco and Floor are doing a phenomenal duet - and Troy on E-bow!!
    It just might be one of the greatest Nightwish songs ever, in that version.
    And I don't believe it is the last we have heard from Marko and Floor together - they are too close friends.
    Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon) have also used both of them together - and will do it again I believe. Floor's up-coming solo stuff - if needed, Marko, Irene and Henk are ready.
    And vice versa - When Marko writes some solo stuff, Floor will be in his mind.
    I am not worried at all. 👍🤘🤘

    Another great reaction. An electric guitar can achieve that sound if it has a piezo pickup built into the bridge. A couple of companies that had/have models available off the shelf that way are Godin and Parker. PRS has a piezo equipped model too.

    So love this track but favourite moment in the reaction was the smile when they were harmonising. If you add it to a playlist it will be visible even when unlisted (still do this myself even when I schedule them). Still hoping for a reaction to the 'harmonising' on Yours Is An Empty Hope - I think Wembley has the best acoustics, Mexico is OK, the Cruise ship works for the harmonising but sound is never going to be great inside a steel box.

    A Piezo pick-up will give you an acoustic sound so that could be it but I'm not sure.

    • @572Btriode
      @572Btriode Před 3 lety

      It's a Warwick/Framus Infinity/Panthera, you can see the W logo on the bass headstock and Framus is written on the six string headstock, custom shop special order for those with seriously deep pockets. . . . . . . .The piezo pickup is integral with the bridge and so virtually invisible, but gives the acoustic sound. While the bass is DI'd into the desk, AFAIK Marko also uses a Kemper profile/modelling amp with the six string output.

    Now you can do the best cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes with Marko absolutely killing the vocals and the band well the band does the usual awesome performance. Marko really gives this classic a new voice and it is just sensational, no way you won't enjoy this....(czcams.com/video/IClqCyS4IRY/video.html). Here how good is Marko, he gets Floor to be his backup singer!!! I know very few who will ever claim that accomplishment!! Nice one guys and we were sure that this would be a great example of Marko's range and that is why even with a great bassist, Nightwish will never be the same without this Viking king on stage with them!!

    Mat was right first time, it's a Low Whistle and not a flute at all, your guitar question is answered down below I think.

  • @Sadfluffybear
    @Sadfluffybear Před 3 lety

    So, I'm no expert either, but about how I think electric guitars and basses work: If they're not plugged into an amp, you won't get any sound. The sound is created by the vibrations of the strings being directly translated to electric impulses of the same frequency and then sent to the amp to translate that into sound, kinda like how microphones work too. Amps usually have a way of regulating (e.g. adding) distortion (what exactly distortion is and how creating it works would be a bit too much to explain) to their input, but if you turn that off completely you'll get something close to the sound of an acoustic guitar. So tl;dr what you've just heard is clean electric guitar sound, the "metal guitar sound" is just that with some "noise" added on top.

  • @tedkord1968
    @tedkord1968 Před 3 lety

    I don't know any specifics about Marko's double neck, but most likely it has a piezo pickup in the bridge. This gives a very clear, acoustic like sound. I've got one in my Ernie Ball Musicman Majesty.

    I think the Marcos guitar is a semi accoustic, just like jazz guitars so it has those violin holes and a kinda hollow body. But even for that i also think it sounds really very much like a real accoustic guitar.
    Here you can see it also a bit better maybe :

    basically my dude if u don't use the distortion and pedal settings keep on clean side an electric one can do preety much what acoustic does when acoustic is used with a microphone saddle pickup instead of an open mike because that pickup is like the magnets used on an electric one (here an example of what i mean barberatransducers.com/guitar_pickups.html?imz_s=aom6kt9n5amg3hq6cecunh3rb4) .Try also google "acoustic guitar hole microphone pickup" and you ll see the other type that goes right on the hole and is exactly what happens on an electric guitar as it picks the sound before the soundbox would factor in (which of course electric guitars lack)

    • @peetur123
      @peetur123 Před 3 lety +2

      I think there is piezo pickups. They make more acoustic sound.

    • @galadballcrusher8182
      @galadballcrusher8182 Před 3 lety

      @@peetur123 i used in past one of the saddle type ones , cant remember brand and when slotted in an amp sounded louder and when added distortion sounded like a normal electric guitar that's why i mentioned, still from what you seethe concept is similar to it since magnetic ones exist so i think it explains the sound . Also i recall on a gear gods vid for Nightwish the tech for Troy's gear was saying he uses specific pedal options on the pipes...diferent on the guitar or bouzouki and diferent for distorted or e-bow same as what Marko does using a distorted as well undistorted bass setting for diferent songs so my guess is undistorted clear sound setting on the combo guitar of the 2 headed beast makes it sound like accoustic see?
