For 森 or forest, try to recall the original name for animal crossing is 度物の森 or animal forest. If you can make connections like that in your mind it will help learn more words quicker

You can make them on power point. You design the layout on each slide. Then you record your screen talking then hit the mouse when you want to move to the next slide

Kanji are chinese characters, however the japanese have their own interpretation of said characters. The kana involved is only japanese from my understanding.
