    The TW200 is built different and it has a fun look. It's a great farm bike for slogging down the fields and riding the ditch banks. I just took my '89 on a loop in the mountains today. Single-track, fire road, whoops, cobble riverbed crossings, and small ledges and drops, I tackled it all but at the narrow bits I was having to be extra cautious because the bike is lower and it's engine is ready to bang into a high or side-jutting rock. I scraped a few times where a taller bike would have been OK. I was unable to wiggle around some rocks and struggled in some narrower deep single track in a way that a narrower taller bike wouldn't have. I went much slower and I'm OK with that. A bike with more suspension like even the KLX230's amount could have flown over whoops and hits that I needed to take it much easier on.
    I'm very happy with my Tee Dub, but it isn't like anything else. It is built differently. I'd much rather have it than a Honda Trail 125 or smaller bike like a Monkey, Grom, Rokon, and certainly not some other pull start camp bike. They wouldn't work for where I want to ride.
    Sometimes I wonder about a DRZ400 for the suspension and power to get it done, but I don't have the desire to ride at that level of excitement. Then I think an XT250 would be a nice companion bike and swap for the TW. If I didn't have the TW already I think that's what I would choose. I also think a KLR 650 would be nice to do more "adventure" type riding to tackle the paved roads with more gear and not being rapped out, but I would not want a KLR or any bike that big or bigger on the stuff I just rode today. Some stretches were pure dirt bike country and a spill with a big bike would have ended me.

      It's definitely built differently. Fun bike for sure. I like all the bikes though. I will have fun on anything

    I personally decided on the TW because, one: the comfortability of the seat height(I've ridden a Kawasaki 250 and I felt that every time I was stopped I was on my tippy toes), two: I'm more of a what can I conquer, over how fast can I go, three: I've always liked the look.

      I lowered my seat on my KLX250. I like both. I like fast and I like to ride around the farms and check the on the farmers lol

      It's not bad but for a beginner I personally feel it's easier on another bike. Definitely a great bike I have 2 lol

    I too love the shirt-proud dad of a wonderful daughter. Also-I bought the TW because of the seat height. My height is 5'7 and it fits me perfectly.

    So if you come into buying one with no experience of any bikes at all, you can easily just learn this bike not thinking about others and it'd be fine.

    • @Squarebodyshelley
      @Squarebodyshelley  Před rokem +1

      Yes but moving from this bike to a normal skinny tired bike after this being your first bike will make those bikes seem unstable but in reality learning on a skinny tired bike First will make this bike easier. Just something I gathered from people. One person felt super awkward on the TW and looked like a beginner rider still to this day but put him on my KLX250 and he rides so much better

      @@Squarebodyshelley gotchya. Ive gotten 2 options as my first bike right now, depending on how fast i can offload from my collection, im between a klr and a tw200 and im leaning heavy to the tw200 because of the wide tires and seat hight. I know nothing about klrs though, but ive heard a lot of people like them too.

    I had a TW200 for 7 years as my 1st bike. The egonomics never felt right. My friend bought an XT250. That bike feels better while riding dirt roads and trails. The XT250 has better suspension, power, and brakes too.

    • @Squarebodyshelley
      @Squarebodyshelley  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The ergonomics are definitely hindering to a beginner rider. It's a great bike to start on, have just for fun and is an all around great bike. But I personally see it hindering to a riders ability to improve riding skills. The xt250 is definitely a better bike for someone to expand their riding skills. The TW is just a great all around bike though. It was definitely fun when I had them

    Would it be fair to say that if you are not concerned with going really fast off road the difference in handling is less of an issue?

    • @Squarebodyshelley
      @Squarebodyshelley  Před rokem +2

      Could be less of an issue but my brother in law had a Harder time on the TW200 than my KLX250. He felt better on the KLX250 than the TW200 and is a beginner rider, he had zero concerns on going fast.
