I kinda get the idea. So basically I need a number system, which I have major system, the alphabet POA which I also have and make a statue which has the letters as well? Was there anything else I'm missing?
Possibly.
Apart from the other systems I mentioned in the video, there are the matters of goals and results. I didn't include them here because of the free will issue, but they're important too.

Yes, that's one way of doing things. The more you explore, the more you'll develop your own "mnemonic style."

My model is a globe where I can adjust the point in time and zoom in infinitely close on who was where doing what when
It’s better for me than the “beastiary”/adamWestPocket example because if I have to remember arbitrary illogical connections like “one person being in Adam West’s pocket” then I have to remember those arbitrary assignations
By using the concept of world history and the globe, everything is located where and when it existed

And inside Little Cat A’s hat is Little Cat B, and so on to Little Cat Z.
Very similar to what you describe here, with an infinite series of dependent memory stations in one’s pocket.

I’m going to think of the Dr Seuss example because I’m using his name for my PAO numbering method.
Indeed, recursion is that the core of many mnemonic things. I talk a lot about it in my Read with Momentum program.

How did I miss this video eight months ago? This channel just keeps getting better and better every day. I actually posted a link to this video in an answer to a question that was posted on Quora. It was a beginner actor asking how to memorize dialogue. I explained the way that I was taught at Playhouse West but then explained that the art of memory is really something that they should take up as an independent study outside of their acting and that it can benefit more than just their acting career - then recommended that they check out your channel and dropped a link to this video. I'm sure they'll love the Stranger Things reference!

Language and logic are limited, just as any other tool that we have improvised. The primary limitation depends on our understanding regarding the tool's application and use.
Free will is the tool we have been given to facilitate our enjoyment of experiencing our existence.

But if I might suggest anything, maybe how the ancient memory techniques could help tame the dopamine addiction/desensitization and also how they could help (or maybe were used by medieval and Renaissance figures) to increase the IQ and the EQ.
These two angles will absolutely open the eyes of the people to how powerful, beneficial and impactful on oneself memory techniques could be... it's much more than just remembering a bunch of information.

There's a recent post on my blog all about the real deal with dopamine. I don't know if I'll turn it into a video... it would probably be at least 45 mins to an hour to cover it all... but I'll see what I can do.
For now, it's there. And there's also a post about increasing IQ in what I hope is a reasonable discussion.
This practice is indeed about a lot more than memorizing information. I have another video planned along these lines for one of these days. I can't know for sure, but I think there is probably a link between people who "feel" enlightened and their use of memory. I can only observe that a lot of the "gurus" claiming this tend to use their memory a lot, both implicitly and explicitly by putting out a lot of quotes.
Not the strongest evidence, but I'll keep thinking about how best to validate the notion as time goes on. :-)

Okay, instead of going “I don’t do the alphabet wheel I’m better already” I’m gonna try and play Starcraft and memorize the games key commands by storing them on the alphabet wheel as I play and see if my play speed and control improve lol 😂
Obviously world history is great for history and current events but it isn’t a good structure for memorizing Starcraft key commands or musical notes. So maybe I should branch out to modular “data structures” best matching the material being digested

Additional pointless anecdote: I used a memory palace to memorize the past forms of the English alphabet, and recognized the now extinct letter “Thorn”, which makes a “Th-” sound. When the printing press was created, it was represented with a “Y”, before the letter fell out of favor. But!!!! It exists in tradition, and can be seen at 14:10 in your, “Ye Olde”, which is actually pronounced, “The Olde”! just a fun fact that I only remembered because of your teachings, that re-emerged during this video.

I do know this about ye, but this video answers exactly why people like Bruno and people like me from ye olde West pronounce things as we do:
1) Check out the final quote from Bruno in this video, re grannarians
2) I do this on purpose when speaking because no one knows you’re being archaic if you don’t say yee. I think it sounds cool too.
3) The free will thing, which I’m not sure Bruno was switched onto. I think if he knew about the data we have now, he might not have been so frustrated with others.

Very insightful. I found the last part pretty intriguing: Freud vs Nietche. Freud borrowed from Nietzschesome concepts. However, it's worth noting that while there might be overlaps and parallels between their ideas, the ways they approached and articulated these ideas were different. Freud's division of the psyche into the id, ego, and superego is Freudian.

Not that I want to avoid paying Freud his due, but many scholars have pointed out that a lot of his ideas came from his patients. This is one reason why the idea of there even being anything Freudian has been rather convincing for the past few decades.
I think his truly valuable concepts are found in repression, the return of the repressed and identifying the oceanic.
But the plumbing stuff of ego/superego/id? That’s all in Oedipus and Shakespeare and according to Peter Gay, it was Freud’s patients who told him that.

Yes, you could think of it as something like a mind map.
Some people base the 00-99 PAO on the Major, but the Major itself is derivative of the Katapayadi.

Hi, I think the set of all words is smaller than the set of all possible experiences. That means that much of our lives are beyond speaking about. A cliche example is describing colour to a blind person or the experience of a symphony orchestra to a deaf person. Words, like all tools, have natural limits. Yes, they are a particular kind of development, away from the OG, ape, but language skills may not be the only mod we can develop. However, words enable all kinds of thinking that was impossible before, no doubt. My idea is that the price of that acquired skill is being imprisoned within the world of words and all its logical, linear, sequential ways of processing information.

Yes, the easiest way to memorize the Major System (or any other number-consonant system) is to use a Memory Palace.
You can also use logical associations without a Memory Palace, such as noticing how N has two vertical lines, M 3, T 1, etc.

I haven't done much in the realm of computer programming or accounting, but some in accounting and physics. It really just comes down to having the memory systems in place. Anything can be memorized.

Yes, I do.
Most of the exercises and techniques I teach in the MMM Masterclass allow you to completely avoid having to create anything. That's what mastery of memory techniques is all about. It's pure logic at its fastest and really has little or nothing to do with creating or mental imagery at all.

It sounds like we are nesting memory palaces. So if I first use a loci palace, and in each location I have a number (pao) palace, and in each number I have an alphabet (statue) palace, etc. Is that close to the idea?

Yes, you could think of the "infinite" Memory Palace as a kind of nesting, but pure statues doesn't need to take on that effect. That's just aligning stations on bodies inside of buildings more or less exactly as one would on a couch or table.
In Bruno, as I understand it, by statue he literally means statue. So if you used a museum as a Memory Palace and in that Memory Palace there is a statue of Zeus with 30 stations on the statue, it's not so much nesting as it is using something inside the building.
But if that statue has a "portal" to another statue, then that is like nesting.
I don't know enough about the method you are describing, but please feel free to say more. An MP organized around or by a PAO System could certainly resemble this concept, but it depends on the underlying logic that structures the choice of each PAO.
Are you using the Major? If so, then it is likely a bi-directional number/alphabet system as discussed in Aristotle's Nuclear Alphabet. :-)

Doing pretty good… except for covid. It hit me so hard my wife found me passed out and I was off in the ambulance before I could protest.
I frequently assign new Memory Palaces and enjoy the benefit of continually expanding and using spatial memory. It’s rare that I reuse MPs.
I’d suggest having and using as many as you can across your learning life. 🙏

Somewhat random question. If I had a big memory palace that I'm using micro stations, is it better to go 1-30 then add 1-30 in another room/of that palace or just go 1-30 then 31-60 etc.
I put everything alphabetized and I have a different subject on the next ones after 30.

If there is “better,” it seems to me that it is found through constant experimentation.
For me personally, that has always been the key and each new learning projects and the Memory Palaces involved in them always involve a combination of relying on the standard MMM and an experimental element/willingness to not know what will happen along the way.

At the moment I'm making a palace network for vietnamese, another one for parkour, self defense and lastly hair care. :) I also chose to go with numbers 1-30 then 1-30 in a another area. :) also I use the statues (sometimes just using 4 pieces for the statues to make it faster) for when I put palaces in the middle walls or on tables while I have other info on the floor by the corners or the lower walls. :) Thanks for all the help.

Hey Anthony, do you have a process for breaking down paragraphs and sentences into key imagery? I find that this is where I struggle the most. Sometimes I will have multiple paragraphs to remember, and would like to create the fewest amount of images to remember each paragraph, but I’m not sure if this is realistic, and I may in fact need to create more images for each key word of the paragraph. What’s your approach? And is there a section in the MMM course on this topic? Thanks. Hope your covid recovery is speeding up :)

I don't break paragraphs down into imagery. As discussed in video 3 of the Masterplan, the process is always a unique extraction of key points and then elaboration of those points in Memory Palaces.
There is not and realistically cannot be a uniform process for this because information is not equal. Many paragraphs have no point as such and others are loaded with them.
Some pieces of information appear very straightforward and easy to memorize, but wind up being more complex. Some complex pieces of information wind up connecting more readily despite their complexity.
When we have our MPs ready to go along with the prerequisite association development (Exercises page), we're as optimized as possible in the moment of wrestling with the text.
Then, as we memorize, we increase our optimization because each new details creates a new connection that itself can serve as a possible point of connection. But there is never an inflection point that changes the nature of information itself, in the same way that no amount of surfing skill and experience changes the ocean.

@@AnthonyMetivierMMM as always you response is greatly appreciated and very helpful. I’m writing to you today because I made an interesting discovery. I’ve been following your course guidelines when it comes to making journeys in advance, and selecting the loci. Today however I realized that if I use bridge figures, I don’t necessarily need to have specific steps within my journey, because I can just think of the next bridge figure that I visualized in a random section of the journey. This has saved me a lot of time and I’m quite excited to see how this helps me if it proves to be a sustainable strategy over time.

It's possible this approach is sustainable. In my own experience, it tends to hit a saturation point quite quickly and I usually wish that I'd just done things the standard way.
But that might not be the case for you and it is always worth running experiments and following intuitions.

I would do as I have advised law students and lawyers for over a decade now:
Learn and apply the Magnetic Memory Method.
It’s ultimately a self-study, learn-by-doing set of mnemonic systems and devices you identify and assign based on your existing memories.
From there, your absorption and retention can scale quickly, relative to integrity of practice and optimal use of the tools.

It's just that with the excess of subjects to study and the rigor with which are charged (multiple alternatives with "pranks") it can be intimidating and give a feeling of scarcity, as if the traditional techniques were not enough for so much material.

Yes, there is a certain level of sneakiness in many exams.
All the more reason to have accurate recall of the facts.
These feelings of intimidation and scarcity are often best dealt with in two ways:
1) The relaxation exercises I share. The mind is much less likely to bother you if you're relaxed.
2) Taking action. When at least something is being done, the mind takes greater rest in the movement.

It's possible if you get deeply relaxed and try to work it out, ideally with pen and paper in hand. But the most direct manner will be to re-memorize it, which for the true master of memory will be delightful.

Fractals certainly play a role here. I would suggest reading Thirty Statues itself for the fuller gist of what Bruno means - or means to mean.

Bruno was absolutely correct. Aristotle's logic is fatally flawed. Because, that which is LIMITED is IRRATIONAL by definition, and Aristotle attributed (limitless) Reason to limited (irrational) ideas of the limited (irrational) intellect, which bases everything upon information gathered by the limited (irrational) senses. Like the pre-Socratics, Bruno was influenced by the ultimate source of information. We call it Hermeticism, but it is not just another "ism," as it comes from The Source Itself; absolute Truth put into terms that we who are experiencing limitation can understand. These are suggested variations. They don't all appear fully in the image, so it's anyone's guess. But most people use ch and juh or soft g sounds for 6. The image may be referring to how J/I is sometimes used in Latin.

What translation did you search?
It's in the chapter sometimes translated as, "Of the Despisers of the Body."
Note that I read Nietzsche in German and translate him myself. One can certainly quibble over the exactness of my translation, but I believe the tone and tenor is correct, especially in the context of this video.
I would not do anything wilfully to misinterpret anything in Nietzsche, noting that Nietzsche, like Bruno, used a lot of Zen-like language to help "wake up" their readers, which is why tone and tenor or logopoeia are really important in translation efforts.
Enjoy finding and reading the passage for yourself, ideally in the context of the whole book and in Nietzsche overall with your own reading of Bruno.

I would suggest reading The Victorious Mind. In the opening, I talk about how Moonwalking with Einstein was mostly story and almost no technique and my book is an attempt to have an engaging story and the most substantial memory techniques I'm aware of.
As for only having 10 hours, I do not believe this is realistic to the tradition. Memory training is for life, in the same way that a martial art is.
Just as one might complete a black belt in one art and then move onto the next while keeping the original skills fresh, memory is like that. Once you have it optimized, you use it to build, but you never stop nurturing your skills with it.
Does this way of looking at things make sense?

That is indeed 1 way of looking at things. But it is also quite possibly a logical error to assume that logic gets such extraordinary governance and sovereignty.

It depends on the language, where you are at with the memory skills and what you need to make substantial progress with the programming language.
I would suggest first getting well-versed in proper, mnemonic techniques before worrying too much about specific applications.
This is important because there is nothing special about any particular body of information. Learn the techniques well, and you will memorize anything well.
If people are conditioned to not believe what Giordano Bruno said, which I comprehended as hard determinism, If everything is determined by the law of cause and effect, bound by physical and mental limitations, then how is memory improvement (or any improvement in general) possible?
I'm not sure I can answer to the possible question, but we certainly see how our brains can copy the actions of others in ways that lead to both plus or minus consequences.
You might like to look into topics like mirror neurons and other aspects of neuroscience and social learning. Those elements speak to cause and effect.

Maybe something drops from a leveled scale (equilibrium) with a thud/bang/splash on a table. Maybe put an instance before the table (like my view:actually it starts from my head/eyes but naturally it feels like it starts from what my eyes are seing first). I often have soem problems with the first and last word, so maybe ad another thing after the last word aswell to encapsulate everything

I understand some concepts, still it is chaotic, like the video is about, we are limited by body because we have resources, we can use only some things at one time. Like we cant really know everything at once. To another part still i dont really agree with the non existence of free will, if there is + there is a minus, which draws the whole, all seems just like some kind of balance, but well according to that which is in video 'universe is infinite, so you are too, as you are a part of it' so you grow indefinitely, till your time comes to an end, and you growing is not something you can control in all senses, but you can choose to grow more, to 'increase the speed' instead of holding the non effort speed, that in fact is free will, controling what you can, instead of controlling what you cannot, i think its just a matter of recognizing it. It's all hard to convey as you can literally waste your life, but what makes you not waste it is consciousness which in turn comes from the universe, so it comes back to one and the same point, to it balancing itself out. To be honest the idea is still lacking, just like my abilities to convey that, they only start to expand, i hope that it can provide some insights into what you have, as what you did brings some insight into what i do have. I recommend looking into ying yang, taoism and similar stuff like these, thank you and take care.

That's the question: What does the 'individual' claim credit for? If it's will of any kind, but especially free will, then I can only repeat the call to adventure that deep thinking on the matter needs to begin.
Many, if not most of the best philosophers and many of the cutting edge physicists have recognized that free will is not possible. So it's not like you would be stepping into the company of tedious people.

There are many other factors that discredit the notion of free will. The question to ask yourself is if you have will enough to drop your conviction in its existence. Strangely, free will defenders never do. And if they say they are compelled by their interpretation of data, all the more evidence they don’t have the will they claim.
@AnthonyMetivierMMM Sure, but I consciously select not to do so due to lack of actual coherent and compleling evidence in support of that position. One can also select both consiously and unconsiously the degree that external data can be assimilated into decision making as well. If one believes that we are preprogrammed automatons, he is free to do so, but it seems that a belief against free will is a very compeling reason to avoid deep and hard work on one's self since it is predetermined that regardless of the effort the outcome is already determined and thus not really important or urgent to meet any target.
Looking at the behaviors that the belief against free will incentivizes, I do consider it proper to avoid such beliefs altogether.
And conscious awareness operates according to your design and purview? There is equally a lack of coherent and coherent evidence to compel anyone to believe that.
We don't even have evidence of the "one" who thinks "one" comes up with such permutations of the alphabet with intensional and extensional references to either material or ontological being.
What's tremendously curious is that the pushback to "no free will" continually resembles what you've said, replete with references to belief. Is belief truly a matter of will and freedom? If so, how so?
Likewise, you roll out the old and tired idea that the no free will position is somehow about avoiding self improvement. This is special pleading because all kinds of people have never heard of free will as a philosophical point of contention and still do not work on themselves. They raise no such excuse, but if they were to bump into the idea and have implicit memory and semantic memory, etc. encode it into their systems, they have a higher likely hood of trotting it out in the same way you just have.
I'll leave it to your claim to "consciously select" to either educate or refuse to educate yourself about memory science and speak further about it. I certainly won't try to persuade you to do so and I have no skin in the game of whether you do so or not, other than that the more people who at least consider the alternative view without special pleading, the more we might see a reduction in suffering.
But the transformation rarely happens simply because it can't, not because anyone's "belief" in some form of determinism gives them an out.

Buzan's SEM3 has a problem with being too generic, though for a while it may have helped some memory competitors given where the records were at that time.

@@AnthonyMetivierMMM not really, i'm just starting the journey of memory and really putting it up, but instead of actively remembering, i try to do it passively by assigning a category to a creature like a wailing ghost or a mythical creature who speaks whenever a situation appears, honestly like clock alarm for memories ahah. i divide the categories in long term use or not to progressively go further on the flower of life and the connection between the flowers are connections for arguments or my own opinion on categories. just a work in progress made by someone, not great at memories, who uses the words of others as a prompt to remember.

When you say "any of this", you should wildly gesticulate in every direction to indicate that your talking about all of reality. That's what i do. It looks very dramatic.
Perhaps, but as mentioned in this video, "all of reality" is an emergent property (or infinite set of sets of infinite properties). So in my personal practice, such dramatic waving would diminish the majesty of the target. Living with as few "shoulds" as possible is my alternative goal, but I do appreciate the suggestion. :-)

I disagree with premise 3 (of 4). The argument, therefore, falls down completely, for me. Ultimately, though, I must admit, I don't care about free will vs. Determinism in any ultimate sense, because, a)I believe absolutes are unattainable in this universe, 2)as a practical matter, Determinism leads to ever increasingly irresponsible behavior. Possibly I should add 3) I define responsibility as willingness to be at cause. This puts all subjects under possible consideration into present tense, which I deem good, because I know no more powerful affirmation/mantra than the following (I know many that are equally powerful, but not MORE powerful): never regret yesterday. Life is with you today; and you create your own tommarow.
I would love to see anyone create tomorrow, whatever that is supposed to be. The fact that we are all vectors of such meaningless cliches is all the evidence one needs to make the absence of free will “stand.”
