Someone needs to tell Jaeremy that his rent will go up faster than his wages and in 5 years time he could have been paying 25% less mortgage than rent. If you're in a position to buy you must always grab that chance. Circumstances can change fast and prices can shoot up. Never ever waste your chance.
I honestly think he was better off renting because I feel like being picky wasn't his problem. He didn't really know what he wanted. Even if the second house was in a better location, he would find another reason not to buy it. He just wasn't ready mentally and emotionally.
Agreed with original poster. Jeremy acts like this is his forever home instead of a starter bachelor pad. If this was in 2011ish, when prices were at the end of falling after the worldwide mortgage collapse and housing crisis, he could have owned any property shown and in 5 years doubled (at least) his money. No one can say prices in 2016 weren't higher than 2011. And prices in 2023 are higher still. I'd love to see what those homes are valued at now. For him it's not about finding a family home in the best school zone, but a starter investment. Too late now😂
Those 2 and their 2 children are still in that house and they fixed it up brilliantly
Phil and Kirstie have a way of chatting that I NEVER WANT TO GO OUT OF DATE ..SO FUNNY SO CHEEKY , feels like a family comfortable in their own skin ..housing project was good too !
People have different tolerances for noise. My husband’s family home was next to a power station that hummed very loudly, and they no longer noticed. I used to hear the interstate that is about 5 miles away, but haven’t for years. But a friend moved off the lake because she couldn’t stand the sound of ducks quacking! That house near the train was beautiful.
So lovely to see a young couple able to buy a house! I do so love the "team" of Phil and Kirstie! What a wonderful pair of real estate agents, they truly help their young clients "see the light" of things... Always leave me with a smile :).
The project was a good buy. Phil and Kirsty are always amusing.
the follow up is great, they turned it into and amazing house.
Thank you for these episodes! Much appreciated!
These shows are always good!
Good to see the couple happy.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💙💓🥰🤗
I just love these two. Have had covid and binge watched them over and over again!
Hope you have recovered well. That is exactly me right now, feeling really unwell with
Covid and enjoying watching all these episodes.
I've been living in my house for 2 1/2 years and the noisy trains traveling close by my house still bother me--especially at night.
When we were looking at the house we were told that only one or two trains went by during a 24 hour period, but it's much more frequently. (The two times we looked at the house no trains went by so we had no idea how noisy they were.)
I'll never again buy a home that's close to train tracks, with a sloping yard or near a noisy interstate freeway--three unpleasant problems I have with my current house. (The freeway is over 5 miles away but I can still hear the constant hum of cars on the pavement and air brakes on semitrucks).
Great show. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️💓💚🥰🤗
South facing garden..
Its 30 meters long so ALWAYS sun somewhere!!
You can say one thing for sure for British homes.. they do love their big flower wallpaper. So far, after watching numerous of these programs, pretty much every single home has one or two walls of big flowers. I wonder why. (other than they like them). lol
At 44:45 it shows that the video was filmed June 2011, so 11 years ago probably it was fashionable to have that kind of wall paper. Most of these videos if not all, are old actually.
the flowers may have gone up in the 60's...these homes tend to be on the old side!
@@andreanittel2240 this was a definite trend of the late 90s/ early 2000s x
I find it odd that so many places have one wallpapered wall ... an 'accent' wall? just looks unfinished to me ...
I have noticed that as well ... let me tell you, hand on heart, I have never seen that in any house ... grotesque ...
Jeremy wasn't that motivated. In the back of his mind, maybe he knows he'll inherit his father's house one day.
the young couple seem a bit like school teacher and student. He has such a baby face!
Yes and the hairstyle made him look young. Bet he looks very different now 11yrs later!
@@pepta yes and hers made her look older!
Looks lke paddy the baddy😂😂
@@EvasNan2020And maybe because no lipstick (not that she needs it)
"100 grand is a lot to spend" Hehe..
It's clear what the problem is with Jeremy's house hunt. There is no urgency, and he doesn't really know what he wants. I honestly think he should rent because he was in absolutely no position to buy a house, emotionally and mentally.
Who’s black cat with white feet is that always walking by the houses in every show
How much train noise would good planting absorb?
I bet those two had gorgeous children 😍
I was literally thinking the same thing.
@@kimberlegray81 🤣🥰
they look like siblings 😂😖
Today married with absolutely two stunning sons
This must be very old…worrying that $100k is too much lol. I guess those houses must have tripled by now? Or nearly? I made the mistake of not buying a condo 6-7 yrs ago after my divorce and now my chance is gone. The prices doubled since then in my city. I hope he is luckier. The young couple made a good choice and a great deal…best of luck to them.
Yeah, well this was in 2011, so it was a few years after the recession, so people were cautious at the time. Nottingham is still relatively affordable. The prices went up for sure but definitely not triple, lol.
@@thehungrygoldfish Thank you!
I’m so sorry. That would be terrible. This couple doesn’t seem bothered by it, lucky for them.
When people say their budget is 205,000£, are they factoring in the stamp tax? Moving costs and so on?
Yes they usually are...
@@keys6 It confuses me because they usually say someone's budget is X hundred thousand pounds, and then they buy a house that has that price. So if someone says "Our budget is 205,000 pounds" it really means they have that *plus* an amount they are not mentioning that will pay moving costs and stamp tax?
@Figaro Hey! there's two different ways to look at it - some will say a figure that includes the house...the stamp duty.. deposit...solicitors...survey...moving costs etc as a sum of money they will need..plus an emergency fund.. others will separate the two...and describe the budget as the price of the house they can afford with their deposit... a 200k house with a 10%deposit... for example... so they will have a top house budget of 200k... they will have all other costs separate...
The first house that the couple looked at was great with so much potential
Jeremy ,s thinking if I stay with dad another year or 2 I could have another 24 grand to spend ,but he will probably need it to buy any of the houses he was shown by then ,that's IF ,they are still on the market ,he s just too nervy ,to go it alone ,no wonder he has nt a gal
To be honest why go to the expense of getting a garden if it’s not facing the right way, light is worth its weight in gold!
The young couple need to rethink what they want.
She's a taker! She's got the audacity to live at his parent's house as a grown ass woman yet a non South facing garden is a deal breaker? I liked the guy, he wanted their own place she squacked over 3K & still way under budget, I'm sure his parent's are glad to have their house back, she's selfish. Good luck to him.
@@sandradee1579shows how much you know as this is years old. The couple now married with children and own home and have their parents over frequently.
What year is this 2000?
2011
The young couple is weird .why are the English so intent on doing stuff themselves , and knocking down walls ,and making everything a project and getting value! That last house was way cheaper and pretty much okay inside with a gorgeous garden. all they had to do was rip up the carpets, change the color of the walls, add their own furniture , and, maybe, knock out a wall or two . it'll be perfect. I just don't get them.
It doesn't matter where you're from. In every country, there are going to be some people who want a fixer upper and some people who want move-in-ready. It's just a personal preference. Me personally, I prefer people who want fixer uppers because I'm just not a big fan of people who want to walk into a house and do absolutely nothing to it. Even if a house is move-in-ready, you still need to maintain and repair it over time. When you move out, it's not going to be in the same condition as it was when you move in.
If you do stuff yourself you do it the way you want. Not someone else vision. Its not weird at all.
Maybe Jeremy should buy and rent out the property to tenants. Then rent where he really wants to live. At least he’s on the ladder
Jeremy🤦♀️
Love this show but find Kirsty s constant insults to Phil a huge turn off, If it was the other way round he would be accused of misogyny,
Kate , this is an old episode and today they still work together happily and Phil gets many a cheeky and pointed comments back at Kirsty.
Agree Kate
I agree with all of you 😂 I enjoy how they insult each other!
Watch more episodes. It's mutual.
Lighten up, it's good old fashioned British sarcasm and humour and done with love, they do it to each other, why look for misogyny in everything these days???
Jeremy resembles Jude Law!
Is he dithery too?
@@dmode2793 I am not British, so I don’t know what you mean by dithery . Can you explain?
@@sungoddiss Of course. Someone who is unable to make a decision.
Doesn’t look like him one bit!
We've seen that wall paper with the huge flowers on several programs before. It must have been wildly popular in the day. Thank heaven that era is over! Flowers on a black background, on a red background, on a yellow background. Yuck!
Jeremy im single here...your so cute
Grow up boy! You are 30!
I think Jeremy just wanted his 15 minutes of fame. As for Kirsten saying he wouldn’t buy unless a girl held a gun to his head I doesn’t think that would work either because he’s too single minded.
To be fair, everyone on the show wants their 15 minutes of fame.
3 to 1!! rather WOKE
Aah! The sound on envy.....
@@canadahigh Nothing to do with envy, the show was politically correct and woke even back then, showed on channel 4 ( very woke nowadays) in the UK
Jeremy may be in fashion design, but he needs to have his trousers tailored to fit closer. Those are old man's pants! You only have the whole package together when young, so take advantage of it!
Lol, I thought the same thing when we saw his backside. His jeans were his dad's, I think!
(LOVE this comment!) ... (as someone who is older).
It was the fashion back then!
Love ❤❤ these two! They are so fun.
