    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    The Tokyo Rig IS the real deal!! I have fished the standard EWG hook rig in 3/0 & it catches fish!! I have simply pitched into pads, weeds, wood, etc. with a 5" stickworm (Senko type) jigged it, dragged it, etc. & they can't stand it!! Best new deal for me in a long time & I haven't even tried it with creatures etc.. Why when the sticks work so well??

    This can be made with a EWG hook, a split ring, a barrel swivel, and a paper clip. Much cheaper than buying the actual rig. Not ripping on Mike, he's getting paid to promote this, but there is no reason to buy this when you can make it yourself in a few minutes.

  • @matthewbeckwith663
    @matthewbeckwith663 Před 3 lety

    Because the hook eye is free to rotate along the split ring, does this set up allow the lure to still sit parallel to the bottom? If so, this may be a way to approximate a drop shot presentation without remaining perfectly vertical.

Im sure its it's cheaper than losing 7-25 dollar lures, only expensive part i see that can be kinda crappy are that the tungsten weights do cost alot depending on what brand you'd like to add to it. Then again you can go cheap and just use lead.🤷‍♂️

  • @joestrummer9507
    @joestrummer9507 Před 3 lety +1

    So, let me get this straight: you've got a swivel, split ring, a stiff wire that goes through a weight and gets bent, and a hook. That's a lot of connections and areas where muck, grass, and weeds can collect and get fouled and snagged. Plus, the entire thing is loosely connected so it will just collapse in on itself with the weighted wire swinging anywhere it wants to including against the soft-plastic, unless you just keep reeling it in fast at a spot where there's no cover or structure whatsoever which would beg the question why in the heck are you fishing where fish are most likely not to be? Of course, maybe, just maybe, you can fish this vertically but wait, is there something better that doesn't have a bunch of metal attached to it? I think there might be..... hmmmmmmm....... what do they call it? It's a colorful weight with a hook attached to it, starts with a j...... A jig! That's it! Dear Lord is anybody really buying and using this ridiculous contraption?

    • @DrGargani
      @DrGargani Před rokem +1

      thank you! what people don't realize is that is it NOT just the hook that catches weeds: in heavy vegetation, anything can catch onto the weeds, most commonly, the weight itself despite the bullet shape ....I would have to try this myself in heavy weeds to see what would happen...

    • @TheDailyTeacherTuey
      @TheDailyTeacherTuey Před 5 lety +1

      Kevin Schneider I think it looks decently different since Texas rig has that bullet singer affecting the action of the bait. The bait is no longer free to have its horizontal action (comes from that barrel swivel). But looks like a lot of guys figured out alternative diy options, which I might try.

      I will say that i much prefer the tokyo to the texas rig and I've had plenty on the tokyo. In my opinion, that steel wire is not even really seen by the fish because of the way youre fishing it. The bait will get seen mostly from above or at eye level. Maybe it is seen it just doesnt bother them?again, just my opinion
