When I started playing the game there weren't enough active players for there to be six digits. As it became more popular and six digits came into existence the term "six digit" meant you were practically brand new to the game. It also became a popular saying due to new (six digit) players who were very overconfident with uninformed or flat out bad opinions, but we're so far removed from that era that the meaning has changed. I think maybe a lot of people are thinking about what six digits meant when they were there rather than the insanely large, diverse, and much higher skilled that it has become. Don't underestimate six digits!

I agree with the perspective of feeling proud of what you've accomplished, regardless of how it compares to others. I think it's important to appreciate your own level of effort and I hope more people will subscribe to the idea. Since I think it's a good mindset to have.
Heck yeah. I got a random 142 pp play on what was an SS for like 80% of a map that I had no business fcing, and I’m DANG proud of that play. My next highest is 118. That play is the only reason I’m top 500k, and nobody can take how that has felt for the last few days away from me. I’m going to improve, that play will fade into obscurity, but while it’s my top play it’s gonna stay pinned on my profile gosh dang it
Hey! Im a 6 digit that is currently deep into the tournament scene. I really appreciate these types of videos since it does highlight the disparity between the upper and the lower end of 6 digit. The tournament scene is a whole new level however, and can be a huge change in mindset and environment for anyone that is planning to join it. Hopefully, there will be some videos in the future covering the difference between Casual and Tournament play in osu to encourage more people to go in tourneys perhaps. Keep up the great work!
As of lately 5 digits are getting a lot of shit aswell, in my experience, everytime i share a speed play, ima say my 5th top play tower of heaven another on hddt i was just getting clowned because i got 97% acc because i got nervous at the end, on my aim plays ima say save encore reforms extra hddt, my top play, i was getting clowned for getting an "easy map" top play, when i got a nm score, one man circus i was getting clowned for not getting 99% acc, its honestly wearing me down Thanks for reading this random yap sesh
as 6 digit, "play more" is amazing i had like 15k maps but i only played maps i had scores on, and then i wondered why i was stuck. i wanted to get my first 7* pass on sendan life but my aim was kind of shit even tho i played jump maps. Then i just played random ass maps i had not played, for a week. i beat my best misscount on the map by 34 misses lmao

As a 6-digit around the 150k range, I like playing passing maps which are songs I like. Sometimes I get motivated and play higher star diffs of these maps and try to get a higher combo and such. I also eventually learned and improved skills like streaming and stamina while playing longer maps. I also try to keep up with my 5-digit friends and play the maps they do but worse of course slight improvement I make on those maps are a huge deal to me. One reason why I don't rank up is that I'm still not good enough and another reason is that I don't really like spamming the same maps more than 5 times per session. However, I enjoy playing every day because it really is fun just aiming at circles while staying on beat.
the problem with the term "six digit" is that they could be 100k or 999k. 999k is still very new to the game, but around 300k is when there is some pushback from ranks. There also just seems to be the random six digits that pop off for no reason, an example is myself choking a 300pp play on guitar to kodoku at 200k which I would say is not something a 200k player should be doing seeing as im now 50k and have like 5 more 300s. There also is a large amount of 6 digits like my past self that just play for fun, and don't pp farm constantly and so should probably be around 70-80k but are like 150k because they just get that rank passively from their plays.

I scoreposted my first 3 star pass a year and a half ago, and people were commenting on how funny it was that i considered 3 stars super difficult Now i'm a 30k player with a 7 star FC and multiple single digit misscounts on 8 star maps, who now completely gaps those people making fun of me on almost any skillset Just remember, if someone is being rude to you about being bad at the game, just realize they need to compare people who've barely played to themselves to feel good instead of actually improving. You will overtake those assholes trust me
Diverting your attention from the PP system is one of the best things you can do to improve your overall mental health and gives a better perspective on said circle game. Overall amazing video!
Heya, 6-Digit here. Used to be a 4-digit back in the pre-pp era, frankly these days just play for fun and not trying to grind rank. Admittedly, it's cool to reach a new PR and even revisit old maps and suddenly overachieve that old B/C -> S/A 😆
Also an awesome perspective on the subject. Some 6 digits today are actually the OG's who never got into grinding for pp (which is a good thing). And who got the right to tell an OG that their opinion doesn't matter or they are irrelevant. The only people irrelevant are those who feel the need to them themselves above others. As someone who got into the burnt out stage and is recently starting to play again (i took a break for 2 years) im indeed once again having fun and not worried about ppl making fun of my plays
To be honest, I'm not really someone that active in osu!.. despite being a 200k, I don't feel like i can improve, not because my younger cousin who played later than me reach 100k. Instead, it's cause I just can't improve, I've tried playing more active, I've tried resting, I've tried staying consistent, as well as going out of my comfort zone. I peaked rank 225025 during 19th december, and I'm now at 258k. Not only in osu!, I recently started grinding osu!mania, but it's just the same. As a rhythm game enjoyer, i'm just sad that I can't really improve in one of my favorite rhythm games, so now I end up playing almost all kinds of rhythm games to cope with it.
in 3 or 4 years the skill ceiling to get into 4 digit getting more higher and around that time 5 to 6 digit player will more deem as the midgame/experience player.
current six digit (400K) with a lot of speed and endurance that i dont have any use of it except flexing on everything will freeze to my fellow six digit mates even if its not that impressive im just stuck and worst combo holder to ever exist i do shine for like half an hour and than i just burn my hand on some speed maps and i stop playing for a day cuz obviously i would kill my fingers and then learning how to stream and i would go on save me with 5 misses cuz i have a bad habit of whiffing a lot (this was my daily routine as a fellow 6 digit who dont know what to do next in his journey)
when i was a six digit i got a some flack for my rank every once and a while when i would go into a multi, usually the people that did give me that kind of flack where high 5 digits you know the 99,999 to 80,000 crowd. most of the time they would shut up after i picked a 6 min long consistency map rated at the low 5* range and nearly fc the map with above 97% acc while they broke combo 5 times due to low AR and long runtime with about the same acc as me. back then i couldn't play anything crazy but god damn was i consistent. when i finally wanted to get better i always heard that you should just play as many different maps as possible so my ass went and downloaded over 12K maps over the course of a few months and my addiction has not stopped i have over 15K HELP!
It just bugs me when I mention that I bought a rapid trigger keypad just to have people say “you’re not good enough to even use it right” when its helped with my finger control and helped me stop fingerlocking a lot. Before I got it I couldn’t even dream of playing stream maps because I tap pretty lightly and when I tap streams its even lighter so I wouldn’t even hit my switches actuation point but now I can actually play stream maps. My max combo went from a 946 on a 5 minute low star jump map to having almost fc’d tower of heaven with 97%acc and 1000 combo. That’s just one example but the hate on people around my skill level getting rapid trigger is just upsetting because I enjoy being apart of the community and just talking about osu with other players and places like the subreddit and osu’s own general chat make me not enjoy partaking in the community side of the game. I specifically remember when I first got it and said something about it in general someone replied with “6 digits can’t even play stream maps” and people were actually agreeing with him. That wasn’t too long after I almost fc’d tower of heaven and it just made me not like talking about my plays anymore.
Ex-6 digit here, I was mostly on a standstill with being a 6 digit around 2022? It was then when i got invited to 6WC, realised my main skills and utilised them all the way to 5 digit (including a 7* Slider tech map FC and a HD PFC being my top 3 plays.) of course i decayed due to mapping and things other than playing..
I'm at point where I just wanna have fun in the game but sometimes when I look at my top which full of normal diff HDDTHR or hard DT I had the courage to improved more (rarely)
Ive been rank 101k-102k for a couple months and honestly i just havent found osu that fun. Im just the type of person to play a lot of different games with the friend group so osu really hasn't been something ive wanted to play recently.
I started losing motivation to play recently because most of my scores are gone for no reason,Now I can't see my improvement on some maps and also i can't view my godmode play anymore..
Sometimes, when you lose motivation you can do two things I. Do some side quests II. Take a break, sometimes its just healthier to take a break and play less also sorry to hear you can't view your godmode play anymore
I’m a 200k six-digit who hasn’t really purposefully farmed but ended up with pp from multis. My skill level, to me, feels like that of a 400-500k from playing in multis, so I don’t really go for pp, and have absolutely no consistency whatsoever. After starting to learn mapping, I nowadays mainly play maps I find fun, find impressive or interesting in a mapping or aesthetic sense, or the maps that I greatly want to one day fc, like Uberfazz’s Fall In The Dark or trying to get top 50 in that one 2b Lullaby map. In general nowadays, I just either map songs I really like or look at other peoples’ maps, sometimes find absolute banger songs in multis, and finally just play with people on vc. Quite simply, enjoy game.

6 digits are genuinely cool imo (besides all the ones with wonderful wonder as their top play). But the ones that really overshadow them are the shitty 6 digit derankers that pop up in 50k tourneys or even 10ks and still get podium placement because they rather ruin tournaments for other people, then actually play in tourneys their skill range. I wish I was coping but I'm not. The worst of this is 6wc, I would actually sit and watch actual 6 digits fight to show what country has the best 6 digits but it's all overshadowed by the derankers. I think either this 6wc or last there was a 6 digit that ranked all the way up to 4 digit before the tourney was even over. I wish I wasn't getting clapped by 6 digits in tourneys half the time I play them 💀 (im 52k)
Ok so, the maps i started playing with where sent to me by a friend, so.... When i started getting 50+pp, i didnt know what farm maps where to begin with, so, yeah, farmed pp by accident
when i started the game (and started farming) i went hard into the "use half time when u can't play a map" which also made me have the weirdest (and i love it) top play a year ago as c-type (the badeu pp record diff) fc with half time (111pp) at a time where i just had my first 50pp play like 2days before, after getting it i just stopped playing so huuh yeah i'm not getting another top play soon (and i kinda don't want to i love this score)

Former 5digit, now ranked around 230000. I kinda stopped playing the game seriously around 2018 because my old mouse and keyboard died and I never got back my consistency (I played a lot of 5 digit tourneys because I had very reliable snap aim that is completely gone now). I still play every now and then but mostly EZ or going for no mod passes.

well i started playing kinda recently, got like 50hours in game, got a tablet and rn my sayodevice is shipping and I am having A LOT OF FUN like A LOT, I was playing only aim until now but I started playing some streams after someone told me I would hit a wall if I only play aim and I have 121pp top play on an aim map but my best is like 50pp on stream so I am a lot worse but I am learning it so as long I have a lot of fun ima play every day and improve :)
I'm still 6 digit with very suck mouse that affect my grip and aim so much, so I just randomly play any maps that I like or playing relax until I get new set up.

I peaked 5 digit November 2022. And have been around 100k before and after, ever since. Why? I don't derank or decay intentionally... I just mostly play other games. I play at most like 3hrs of osu! a week. The rest of the week are other games and work. So I am just not playing enough to become a stable 5 digit. But I don't care. I don't gain anything by having one digit less in my rank lol

I got to 5 digit before I got my first job jumped from 113k to 96k in about 1 month when I started playing DT after playing 5 months worth of alt and stream practice just trust the process
I was a strange player at 54k, from which I've deranked straight to 91k in the past 3 years. 6 digit really isn't far off, and there has to be many of them who do the stuff I did at my peak. Heck, there were 6 digits with better stamina than I had when I could deathstream 230 bpm at rank 54k.

Man, I wish I could play more I started playing in 2018, and I stopped playing ranked till 100k in the end 0f 2019, after that since 2020 I played offline non stop. I am not sure if I got the dates right. But, I would love to play more. Thing is, life gives me this much time, my body keeps up for this much more, and school and work Are A PAIN IN THE ASS. it's weird but like, i feel like there's only 2 types of 6 digits, the ones who are basically wrong on every takes, and the ones who think they are god for their rank (which is not necessarly false) but they are not "god" either, they're like good as a 30k max, they usually think they are too good for what they actually are..
Meanwhile there's me who loves to climb up in 4* maps leaderboard with not much records, even though I never reached the top 10 (since it's filled with HDDT records which is beyond my skill, my peak was like #15 or so) and won't last long, it's kinda amusing to see "[username] has reached #[top 50] on [beatmap]" on my profile as a 6 digit. This usually also gives me some pp although not as much as directly improving
I think that making the highest rank group one single group is too much of a generalization. I think it should be split into: the farmers from the last group, speed farmers with a profile acc of like 92%, and derankers
im a 6 digit myself almost 100k im a dt player i find lots of 6 digits are actually pretty good just inconsistent compared to 5 digits they could pop off or miss on slow sections with a switch i also find 200k is when people start to prioritize certain types of maps but also i didnt even know farm maps were a thing until 300k so thats mostly what i played lol im a dt aim one trick and proud of it got a slider break on dthd wonderful wonder

To be honest, I'm not really someone that active in osu!.. despite being a 200k, I don't feel like i can improve, not because my younger cousin who played later than me reach 100k. Instead, it's cause I just can't improve, I've tried playing more active, I've tried resting, I've tried staying consistent, as well as going out of my comfort zone. I peaked rank 225025 during 19th december, and I'm now at 258k. Not only in osu!, I recently started grinding osu!mania, but it's just the same. As a rhythm game enjoyer, i'm just sad that I can't really improve in one of my favorite rhythm games, so now I end up playing almost all kinds of rhythm games to cope with it.
in 3 or 4 years the skill ceiling to get into 4 digit getting more higher and around that time 5 to 6 digit player will more deem as the midgame/experience player.

current six digit (400K) with a lot of speed and endurance that i dont have any use of it except flexing on everything will freeze to my fellow six digit mates even if its not that impressive im just stuck and worst combo holder to ever exist i do shine for like half an hour and than i just burn my hand on some speed maps and i stop playing for a day cuz obviously i would kill my fingers and then learning how to stream and i would go on save me with 5 misses cuz i have a bad habit of whiffing a lot (this was my daily routine as a fellow 6 digit who dont know what to do next in his journey)

when i was a six digit i got a some flack for my rank every once and a while when i would go into a multi, usually the people that did give me that kind of flack where high 5 digits you know the 99,999 to 80,000 crowd. most of the time they would shut up after i picked a 6 min long consistency map rated at the low 5* range and nearly fc the map with above 97% acc while they broke combo 5 times due to low AR and long runtime with about the same acc as me. back then i couldn't play anything crazy but god damn was i consistent. when i finally wanted to get better i always heard that you should just play as many different maps as possible so my ass went and downloaded over 12K maps over the course of a few months and my addiction has not stopped i have over 15K HELP!

It just bugs me when I mention that I bought a rapid trigger keypad just to have people say “you’re not good enough to even use it right” when its helped with my finger control and helped me stop fingerlocking a lot. Before I got it I couldn’t even dream of playing stream maps because I tap pretty lightly and when I tap streams its even lighter so I wouldn’t even hit my switches actuation point but now I can actually play stream maps. My max combo went from a 946 on a 5 minute low star jump map to having almost fc’d tower of heaven with 97%acc and 1000 combo. That’s just one example but the hate on people around my skill level getting rapid trigger is just upsetting because I enjoy being apart of the community and just talking about osu with other players and places like the subreddit and osu’s own general chat make me not enjoy partaking in the community side of the game. I specifically remember when I first got it and said something about it in general someone replied with “6 digits can’t even play stream maps” and people were actually agreeing with him. That wasn’t too long after I almost fc’d tower of heaven and it just made me not like talking about my plays anymore.
Ex-6 digit here, I was mostly on a standstill with being a 6 digit around 2022? It was then when i got invited to 6WC, realised my main skills and utilised them all the way to 5 digit (including a 7* Slider tech map FC and a HD PFC being my top 3 plays.) of course i decayed due to mapping and things other than playing..

The only thing i can be proud of is I can't play without Hidden. After being exposed to hidden mod , I can't play with no mods let alone a 3 star map.
I'm at point where I just wanna have fun in the game but sometimes when I look at my top which full of normal diff HDDTHR or hard DT I had the courage to improved more (rarely)

Ive been rank 101k-102k for a couple months and honestly i just havent found osu that fun. Im just the type of person to play a lot of different games with the friend group so osu really hasn't been something ive wanted to play recently.

II. Take a break, sometimes its just healthier to take a break and play less

I’m a 200k six-digit who hasn’t really purposefully farmed but ended up with pp from multis. My skill level, to me, feels like that of a 400-500k from playing in multis, so I don’t really go for pp, and have absolutely no consistency whatsoever. After starting to learn mapping, I nowadays mainly play maps I find fun, find impressive or interesting in a mapping or aesthetic sense, or the maps that I greatly want to one day fc, like Uberfazz’s Fall In The Dark or trying to get top 50 in that one 2b Lullaby map. In general nowadays, I just either map songs I really like or look at other peoples’ maps, sometimes find absolute banger songs in multis, and finally just play with people on vc. Quite simply, enjoy game.

6 digits are genuinely cool imo (besides all the ones with wonderful wonder as their top play). But the ones that really overshadow them are the shitty 6 digit derankers that pop up in 50k tourneys or even 10ks and still get podium placement because they rather ruin tournaments for other people, then actually play in tourneys their skill range. I wish I was coping but I'm not.
The worst of this is 6wc, I would actually sit and watch actual 6 digits fight to show what country has the best 6 digits but it's all overshadowed by the derankers. I think either this 6wc or last there was a 6 digit that ranked all the way up to 4 digit before the tourney was even over. I wish I wasn't getting clapped by 6 digits in tourneys half the time I play them 💀 (im 52k)

Ok so, the maps i started playing with where sent to me by a friend, so....
When i started getting 50+pp, i didnt know what farm maps where to begin with, so, yeah, farmed pp by accident
when i started the game (and started farming) i went hard into the "use half time when u can't play a map" which also made me have the weirdest (and i love it) top play a year ago as c-type (the badeu pp record diff) fc with half time (111pp) at a time where i just had my first 50pp play like 2days before, after getting it i just stopped playing so huuh yeah i'm not getting another top play soon (and i kinda don't want to i love this score)

Former 5digit, now ranked around 230000. I kinda stopped playing the game seriously around 2018 because my old mouse and keyboard died and I never got back my consistency (I played a lot of 5 digit tourneys because I had very reliable snap aim that is completely gone now). I still play every now and then but mostly EZ or going for no mod passes.

For around 5 min mark when you talking about top plays i was literally thay like 3 days ago when i set my top play in rocketfeller stree with dt with an astonish 94% acc beating my winter diamond choke with around 96% and literally said "holy shit what a dirty top play i just get" mostly because i was so proud of winter diamond and my precious was on tower of heaven another dt choke with 88% (yes... i cant do that anymore lol)

well i started playing kinda recently, got like 50hours in game, got a tablet and rn my sayodevice is shipping and I am having A LOT OF FUN like A LOT, I was playing only aim until now but I started playing some streams after someone told me I would hit a wall if I only play aim and I have 121pp top play on an aim map but my best is like 50pp on stream so I am a lot worse but I am learning it so as long I have a lot of fun ima play every day and improve :)
I'm still 6 digit with very suck mouse that affect my grip and aim so much, so I just randomly play any maps that I like or playing relax until I get new set up.

I peaked 5 digit November 2022. And have been around 100k before and after, ever since. Why? I don't derank or decay intentionally... I just mostly play other games. I play at most like 3hrs of osu! a week. The rest of the week are other games and work. So I am just not playing enough to become a stable 5 digit. But I don't care. I don't gain anything by having one digit less in my rank lol

I was a strange player at 54k, from which I've deranked straight to 91k in the past 3 years. 6 digit really isn't far off, and there has to be many of them who do the stuff I did at my peak. Heck, there were 6 digits with better stamina than I had when I could deathstream 230 bpm at rank 54k.

Man, I wish I could play more I started playing in 2018, and I stopped playing ranked till 100k in the end 0f 2019, after that since 2020 I played offline non stop. I am not sure if I got the dates right. But, I would love to play more. Thing is, life gives me this much time, my body keeps up for this much more, and school and work Are A PAIN IN THE ASS. it's weird but like, i feel like there's only 2 types of 6 digits, the ones who are basically wrong on every takes, and the ones who think they are god for their rank (which is not necessarly false) but they are not "god" either, they're like good as a 30k max, they usually think they are too good for what they actually are..

Meanwhile there's me who loves to climb up in 4* maps leaderboard with not much records, even though I never reached the top 10 (since it's filled with HDDT records which is beyond my skill, my peak was like #15 or so) and won't last long, it's kinda amusing to see "[username] has reached #[top 50] on [beatmap]" on my profile as a 6 digit.
