  • There are so many reasons as to why Lionel Messi is considered the greatest of all time. One of his most remarkable attributes is his unrivaled dribbling ability, which has left countless defenders in his wake, both in his younger age and even at the age of 36. Throughout his illustrious career, Messi has completed a staggering 3079 dribbles in major leagues and the UEFA Champions League, with 2392 in domestic leagues and 687 in the prestigious Champions League. On average, he successfully executes 4.56 dribbles every 90 minutes. A feat that is nothing short of extraordinary. But how does he make it seem so effortless? That's why today, we delve into the fascinating science behind his breathtaking dribbling skills.

Other fottballers push ball away and run towards it to carry the ball forward while messi carries the ball with himself and that's why it looks like the ball is glued ro his feet. Hence his body is more balance while tackling with other opponents while dribbling and on the otherhand other players spread their legs far to keep the ball in their reach which reduces the effectiveness of strong balance in order to withstand the tacking. If you have observed messi planning carefully you will notice that the ball is mostly below his body and not far away from it while other players had to stretch their legs to keep the ball in thier control. This is reason why messi doesn't fall often compare to other footballer during tackling.

Messi 'weights' the push of the ball perfectly moreso than virtually everyone. Regardless of what he's doing, whether being pressured during dribbling, running solo with the ball, passing or nudging a ball through someone's legs. That's what a lot of these 'analysis' channels don't cover and just plainly attribute his dribbling ability to height(CoG) and/or hardwork. It's not easy to teach someone to push the ball only 3-5cm when running at high speed with the occasionally sharp cornering while being shoved and blocked by 2 or more players. You either know/develop that skill on your own somehow or you don't.
