The melody sounds earlier than Mozart. It’s more like Handel. F major becomes E major when it’s in baroque tuning.
My own plans for such an event are to get a yaybahar and play common music of whatever time period up in the mountains or hills above some small village.
The harpsichord suits the song oddly well.

This man has played many pieces of music without ever looking at the keys for years. The fact that he has to look during this performance only goes to show the complexity and difficulty of the master piece that is ”Barbie Girl”.
Or this is the second time he has ever played it. 🙄
Or that he just hasn't learned it that well because there are times we're it seams his rhythm is off which is kinda what I sound like when I don't know it well.
He missed the rythm a few times and even had a false note or two, yes. He probably didn't practice quite as much as usual.

Hearing Barbie Girl on a harpsichord makes me think that it could pass for a real baroque piece lol
In fact, the first four chords of the chorus are highly typical in Baroque music. In contrast, they would follow this structure (uppercase letters stand for major and lowercase for minor):
i - iv - V/III - III - iv - ii°- V - i 😂😂
I may be misremembering, but I think someone may have actually arranged it for the Baroque style.
(Either that or it's one of the many pieces my brain cooked up an arrangement for while bored at work.)

Me and my sister both play piano, and we took lessons with a piano teacher who unfortunately passed away a year ago. His name is Jules Abramovitz, and my sister had him when we moved to Boise and when she was in high school and I had him from the summer before 5th grade to my senior year in high school. My sister and I played piano since we were in preschool, and I played it for 17 years now. All my piano teachers I had throughout my life of playing piano, I stopped taking lessons with all of them, but nevertheless, I still play piano and I always will.
Joyful music makes people happy. The harpsichord is the perfect instrument for the Barbie song. You bring joy to this world by going beyond what traditional pianist do! Most excellent!❤

Wow! I never thought "Barbie Girl" from Aqua (a popular 90's Danish pop group) would sound fantastic on a harpsichord! And Vinheteiro really nailed it, considering that pianos and harpsichords have different inherent tonal qualities and methods of sound production.😊😅🎹🎧

It’s a harpsichord. They are actually older than pianos!
This is not only a harpsichord - it is a really beautifully sounding one! Looks like a really well-crafted and perfectly set-up instrument (an art in itself). Those instruments were used in Renaissance and Baroque music, only in the late Baroque era the piano as we know it today came onto the scene and superseded it.

That has a lot of sustain for a harpsichord. I thought that was why harpsichord players had to "trill" so much in order to maintain sound due to lack of sustain. (Much like Giorgio Moroder's galloping synths on "I Feel Love")
A good room, wall nearby - all this energy bounces around and keeps the string vibrating. No dampers in a harpsichord. Just plucks.
