Awesome! Just found this. I am driving the Benz at 00:40. What a party B'Head was! No place like it then and never again! From now looking back is like us then looking back to 1950!
URanInTheUglyForest The Birdman work for Wells Fargo as a security guard he was assigned to the side door of JP Allen’s he used to get out and do his Birdman thing in the middle of a Cain St.
1:13 Lupe! I played in a couple different bands (The Joe Band, Face To Face) at McGee's throughout the '80s, and I remember her well. She had so much personality. 😎
I was transferred to work in a Buckhead club (RnR) in spring of 88. I decided to clean a closet in the nightclub. I found this 45 and I played it. I guess I haven't heard it since then. Thanks.
Absolutely hilarious and right on the spot! I had fun dancing at Limelight with my gorgeous lady, Jaina. Great video. It was great then, but change is good, I think. Please, make more videos!
spent a lot of time in Buckhead in early 90's to 2000. The fun officially ended with the 2000 Super Bowl and the Ravens/Ray Lewis incident. Since then, ATL is nothing but a sprawling mess of neighborhood areas with their own nightlife; VA Highlands, Little Five, Midtown, Cumberland, blah blah blah. Something new opens and others close up. True downtown is a mess, always has been and always will be. You still need to leave there after sundown. Not safe. Have moved to Nashville where they value the downtown hub area and locate almost everything there. Will be a sprawling mess like ATL/Houston/Charlotte someday, but good for now.
Brings back my youth i lived in Atlanta the 1st time 87 to 92 then left for peace corps ive been back since 06 all the fun gone now its overpriced condos i loved aunt charlies back.in the day. I remember bird man from.the news
I was one of those yuppie's in Buckhead. It's a shame there was no mention of the bar "Hedgens" where the Ga Satellites got their start. Spent a lot of take home pay there.
Wow what a trip right back to those fun times! So many fun places &!times..Loved seeing the Birdman on West Paces Ferry, in traffic by Lenox Square… and to read about his life was pretty surprising.
@@robjohnson2228 Yeah, my time in buckhead was around 97 to 2003...really fell downhill after that, had no interest in the new crime element on the scene
An '84 BMW and three tanked sorority girls in lily skirts. You're really playing on my weakness. God that's funny. I had forgotten about the Birdman, zipping around on his bike.
@@billbrinkman7304 I was transferred to R'nR in 88 to re-do the lighting. I cleaned out a closet full of old stuff and I found a 45 of this record, which I then played. It seemed like it was the olden days record. But I knew the original Bangkok version. Pretty cool idea.
I am the girl in the "Lilly skirt" leaning on the red BMW convertible. What a special time to be in Atlanta!
Pretty dangerous time now
Yeah apparently it's a diverse shit hole now lolol
I’m the red bmw. Small world!
@ketaminesulphate6447 Sorry, I'm just now seeing this! Yep, that's me!

I lived in Buckhead back in that era. Fun times. I had forgotten about the bird man until I watched this. He was quite the character.

1:59 The Legendary Lewis Grizzard!
Good stuff. Could have also put in Confetti's, Good Old Days, Club 112 to name a few.

That's where I learned to play Space Invaders and Pacman (and spent plenty of my flight attendant paycheck!!). Good times!
Jim Jacques. Thank you.

Nice 80's throwback! Wow! But where's Good ol' Days?
And Legends 🙂
I'd love to see a contrast video of what Buckhead is like in the 2020's
Buckhead died about the time that Ray Lewis' victims did.
One night in buckhead , car full of bullet holes 🧀 2021 remix
This is awesome!!! Johnny's hideaway is still going strong

I Like Limelight Atlanta Georgia Nightclub From The 80s And Early 90s In My Opinion
Things were hoppin that's for sure!
Russell (Biff) has been looking for this.
Lewis Grizzard, a great American, getting busted! Too funny.
With Ron Hudspeth, no less.
I was the dude in limelight cutting lines .
This was a cool time in Atlanta ga.
the aesthetic of my city.
Wow, straight off VHS!
UnRepentantDrew or beta!
Wow, how different the ATL looks 30 years later. I wished I'd have lived in the ATL in those days, and not when I did.
Randy, The Lazy Comic just go to Birmingham
I know right
You are right! I grew up in ATL. So great. Lots of fun to be had, but without any crowds.... or traffic!
@@ntdejene18 Charlotte, not Birmingham. The right size now, but still just not the same.
Johnny's Hideaway is still there, though.
Not a one 🍉
I was there...
Oh man buckhead was an amazing place...so happy I was 25 in the year 2000. Y'all young bucks don't understand
You caught the tail end of it

I wonder how many in this can look at it now without being embarrassed
i remember this as i lived there
i was the stage manager at Ruperts Nightclub.
wow flashback to all who was there

God that's funny. I had forgotten about the Birdman, zipping around on his bike.
Some things about the city really has changed.. some needed to,some not.. Buckhead included.
Full of too many overpriced condos
I worked at three of those places. I wondered why Confetti wasn't included in your montage.
Was Confetti there in 85?

Was Johnny's Hideaway the hangout spot for cougars and swingers back then?
Still is
Had to turn down the contrast on this one, I was going blind
WOW
Ho lee fuk. How does this exist?
Isn't Buckhead trying to separate from Atalanta now ? Trying to separate from the mess that city has gotten into ?
We love Buckhead we made a show about it called Buckhead Manie 😁
Completely different place today lol
The Place on Paces has closed?????
Say it ain't so.
3:20 I wonder how much cocaine was done here
Lots...lots
Not my favorite era of Atlanta but it was definitely something.
I didn't see any cars like those in 1985. Where were they hiding?
On West Paces Ferry Road & the parking lots at Lennox & Phipps Plaza
If you didn't get laid in Buckhead in the 80's/90's you needed help, said ex Rio Bravo Bartender.
I remember when Rio Bravo opened. It used to be a Western Sizzlin' Steakhouse!
Its so ghetto and sad now.
Atlanta almost became Dallas
Atlanta is basically like Dallas now….ATL has become a sprawling mess…..
I didn't know all the cops used to be be gay... What a wonderful time.
no girls were EVER humble in Buckhead...just sayin' LOL
I humbled them ...just sayin
3:57 of my life I can't get back.
Our moms went here and did dumb shit
Wasn't the albino in the sun glasses kissing the girl "Scotty" the bartender?
I remember Scotty from McGee's. But this is a different guy. 😎
Lol this is before Atlanta became the gay capital.
It definitely was already, especially in Midtown. That's where Ru Paul worked.
