I’m so glad I saw this video. I just purchased a home and was lost about how to decide flooring, colors, etcetera. I never even thought about my design style. Will be checking out your video on that and subscribing for sure.
Great points. I am one of the few people in North America that still have carpet. I have a cream low pile carpet that is in all rooms. Except creamish like ceramics in the foyer, hallway, laundry mudroom,kitchen and bathrooms.
I have to say when coming to painting the walls before, attempting anything I have a lot of art I did not want to make a mistake. I watched a lot of videos and asked a lot of questions.
I then proceeded to paint the walls in light colours but different shades of cream. So, upon entry of the house light colour and as one go more into the house the darkest shade which is like blush pink or salmon similar could be found in kitchen, eating area, family room and den.
I was able to match the curtains for all rooms which was different, to the shades, painting and still observe what art pieces will go with the room.
So to cap it off all advice that designers like you give is priceless.

Hi love ur videos! There is so much I've learnt abt designing my house from ur videos and extremely grateful for it. We just a house on 57th floor so we ve good light and design style would be a combination of modern and minimalistic , what floor colour should we plan , we were thinking of some Italian marble type floor , but would love to get ur 2 bits on the same. Your videos are quite helpful. Would you advice someone to use different materials on the floors of a multiple storey house? For example, mixing tile and wood/laminating? Or can the stairs be different from the rest of the floors?

Thank you so much for your videos. I am curious to know if you have to choose one asthetic style for the whole house or if its allowed to have multiple styles, one per division of the house. In practical ways, is it normal to combine for instance an industrial kitchen with scandinavian bedrooms or glamurous living rooms? I find the idea of decorating my whole house in a single aesthetic style scary as I feel i usually prefer ligh and neutral tones, but would feel a whole house in scandinavian would be dull and scary.
Zahira - I’m just getting introduced to this world as I plan/Hope to buy my first house and your videos have been critical. The one I’m looking at has nice but different flooring in different areas. For example, in the ground floor, the kitchen, laundry room, and kitchen/dining room each have different floors. If we find other ways to bring cohesion to the overall composition, how much of a no-no is it to have different flooring on adjacent spaces?

And a light colour grey sort of off white tile on my floors downstairs. I am now looking to use some laminate in the step which leads to the upper floor. T

Regarding your question I think that will depend on the composition of the space and the size of the apartment, if it's too small maybe to have too many textures can compromise the aesthetics and the "Clean appearance" of the space. Instead there are spaces that support different textures and materials (well combined) that can appear very interesting. Have a beautiful day my dear! xoxo

I personally like tiles in lighter shade because I feel that it makes home look from fresh all the time , reflect light very well and everything goes with it .
