      Hi all,
      I work in the UI-Design Department at Mercedes-AMG. I just wanted to clarify, that those shown ESP Icons could only be legally certified in one state (always off). Therefore a dynamic change of that symbol was prohibited, even if it‘s kind of irritating in terms of usability. That‘s why we added an overall „color logic“ into the experience. Blue for „On/Active“ and Red for „Off/Disabled“ for basically every function.

    • @glebv
      @glebv Před 2 lety +3

      @@michaeladler5183 Thanks for taking the time to clarify, Michael!
      It's always insightful to get this type of info from the actual source.
      I must say it's still a bit confusing to me, though:
      1st - there is no Red state for the ESP, apparently (only blue and yellow) and
      2nd - You have a negative and positive value simultaneously for the same function: a verbal "OFF" on the symbol + Blue "ON" color logic, so you kind of get into this loop of
      "My X function is disabled-enabled?" or "Off+Disabled = Enabled?"
      It's hard to phrase, as you see, I hope I'm getting the idea across.

    4:35 The air vents on top of the front wheel is totally not for dissipating heat; it is there to reduce high air pressure buildup at the front axle, therefore, reducing lift and, in return, increasing frontal downforce. The same goes for the Porsche GT RS models and race cars.

      Correct, its the air exits in the hood that aid engine cooling via ducting. These ducts also add front downforce, the black thin trim pieces that curve around the front of the opening deflect air that would otherwise try to fall into the open air exit. Also, my guess is the front splitter is adjustable fore and aft, not at an angle. The reason for this is I know of no racing series in the world that allows anything but a flat/level front floor/splitter with the exception diffuser sections that feed air into the wheelhouse from under the nose which is then exhausted out via the air vents on top of the fenders. All of the above make front end downforce along with aid in cooling the engine/brakes/etc.

    A great aero quirk at 4:35, the main hood vents have a small kicker flip directly ahead of them. This generates high pressure on the hood in front of them, for more downforce whilst simultaneously lowering the pressure behind them, allowing more air to flow out of the cooling ducts. A two in one benefit, from a tiny but deliberate detail.

      @diggy dub 24:41, look at how fast he passes the black pickup truck and creates distance, yeah sure, Doug's going only 5-10 MPH over the speed limit. In his videos of high-powered cars, you can simply watch the speed at which the scenery passes by, or do some basic math of how long he's flooring it to know he's driving at excessive speeds. You can defend it by saying there's not really a reasonable alternative when testing these cars on public streets, or by saying that Doug's an experienced driver and probably choosing reasonably safe times to test the acceleration. But you can't make a reasonable argument that it's not obvious Doug's speeding excessively. We all know he is. He drives similarly to other CZcams reviewers who have front facing cameras, and they blur the speedometer to avoid incriminating themselves.

    Hey Doug~you forget to mention those two black "spoiler stands" in the boot which supports the spoiler stand on the boot lid. They're specific to the Black Series I believe as it generates quite a lot more downforce.

    That’s a badass spec there but saw the markup on that model submitted to TFL a few days ago, may have even been the same one - “market adjustment” of ~$352k for a total sticker price of $699k.
    Now while it’s an insane whip, THAT price there is INSANITY.

      It’s not increasing horsepower because the gas isn’t burning all the way as could be. But it isn’t losing anything but the high pitch revs bring without a mod

    The hood vents are for increased downforce and heat extraction. It functions similar to the S duct on a Ferrari. The fender vents are for increased downforce by reducing pressure in the wheel wells. Also, the front spoiler doesn't change angle of attack but extends forward to increase downforce.
