I'm so happy I was born and raised in Aotearoa NZ, even though I'm of Samoan descent, Aotearoa NZ, allowed all cultures to practice their cultures publicly and our cousins the Mana whenua (indigenous Maori) showed us how to practice our own cultures, in today's society with pride. Haka Tautoko like this was seen almost every week growing up and remember I'm NZ born Samoan. We would see this happen at polyfest (annual polynesian cultural festival, held all around NZ), tangi (funerals), graduations, birthdays, and as you see here at welcomes and farewells. I also have Maori inlaws and many Maori cousins in my 'Aiga (family) so we attended their events too at the Marae. Praise love and thanks to Maori and their inclusivity of culture and being proud of who you are!
