  • Saving sunflower seeds is an easy way to preserve the genetics of your best growing sunflowers!! Today we will be harvesting the seeds from our volunteer sunflower that just popped up in our garden this year. I do plant on growing many big sunflowers next year now that we have moved but I certainly wasn't about to cut down a sunflower that grew without me sowing a seed. Sunflowers are quite a fascinating plant and they deserve a quite research session if you've never done so in the past.

We had to rescue our Russian giants from the Blue Jay's last week ... this one Blue Jay I tried to scare him off grabbed a seed looked me right in the eyes swallowed a seed then took another seed and flew off, what a jerk 😂😂

chrystalelizabeth that little bugger knew exactly what he was doing :p even if I put bird seed out they still seem to prefer the fresh sunflower seeds over anything else!! Good to hear you will save some seeds though 😃

That is so cool. I prefer the ones that you need the machete to pick! The kernels are so good! You do all the cool stuff!

@@ExpeditionHomestead Those will be awesome! I had one growing at the SE corner of the house, and in the night someone beheaded it and heisted the head! I need some guard ghosts.
