  • Matt from Starboard UK talks you through what additional components you can buy to get more performance out of your Starboard Freeride Evolution Windsurf Foil.
    This video is also relevant if you have the Freeride Plus as long as you're aware of the compatibility differences.

    Great information Matt, this video should have come out when the foils were first produced.

    Very god Video Matt, I weight 72 kg and I sail the Freeride plus in light to medium winds with 5 to 6 m2 sails on lakes. But in gusts I got too much lift. therefore I use -1 to -2 deg shims. But I get too much back footed on my board and I struggle during jibes since I have to stay too far back. therefore I was thinkng to buy a smaller tail wing as you said. Is the 330 or the 255 more adapted to my case?

      Hi, thanks for getting in touch. As a fellow lightweight I know exactly what you're experiencing with too much lift during those big gusts! The 330 tail wing would be my recommendation. You'll notice a significant difference in performance, the lift will be more controllable and will feel more balanced overall.
      The 255 is a massive step down and more suited for race set ups and smaller front wings.
      Hope this helps!
      Matt

    What tail angle do you suggest to start with for the 255 and 330 stabs when paired with the freeride wing and 95 or 105 evo fuse?

      Hi, we'd recommend either the 0. If you find your weight is mostly over your back foot then swap it out for the +1, -1 if you feel too front footed.

    What model and size of board fits the freeride foil best? Given the requirements of a 70 kg sailor in light to medium winds, sailing lakes more often than sea. Would probably upgrade for a smaller back wing while progressing. Thanks

      Hi El Manuel, We'd recommend the Starboard Foil Freeride either in Wood or Starlite Carbon, the 125l for your weight would probably suit you better than the 150. Best paired with sails from around 5.5m and up. The Freeride foil and this board were designed and developed together so they're a perfect combo!

    How the evolution concept works between superflyer and freeride? Can I upgrade from fuse wings etc?

    • @tushinghamsalesltd
      @tushinghamsalesltd  Před rokem

      It's all modular on the Evolution System! The Super Cruiser and Super Flyer have their own 'classic' fuselage which places the front wing closer to the mast. You can put the 1100 Freeride front wing on the 'classic' fuselage and it works great as a faster, more high aspect option however we don't recommend putting the Super Cruiser or Super Flyer front wing onto the 'standard' Evolution Fuselage as these wings are lower aspect and designed to be closer to to the mast.

    Regarding front wing 1100 freeride evolution screws I have found measures published in starboard web dost not correspond with reality as far as the screws should be shoeter than they say...Could tella us wich is the exact measure?

      Hi, some might not be 100% accurate, I'd recommend speaking to the retailer you bought the foil from if you need to change any bolt sizes etc.
