Hublot definately had the strongest sound, which fit with the watch as it looked very militarized. However, the Patek had a very angelic sound which really went well represented the brand
1:25 Christophe Claret Soprano 2:03 Rotonde de Cartier 2:48 Louis Vuitton Tambour 3:28 Patek Philippe Ref. 7000R 4:07 Hublot King Power 4:43 Audemars Piguet Millenary
Christophe Claret chimes 10:59, Rotonde de Cartier plays 10:58, Louis Vuitton chimes 12: 59, Patek Philippe 7000R chimes 12:59, Hublot King Power plays 12:59, and Audemars Piguet plays 11:58. Interesting...
I remember being ill with flu back in 2019. I had spent a couple of days on the sofa watching my CZcams programmes of choice: engineering ... until I ran-out of engineer fields. Then I suddenly remembered watch-making. I didn't wear a watch at the time, but thought it might be interesting. This was one of the first programmes I watched. Six months later, had a sub. Today I feel genuinely missing something if I don't wear a nice watch. Amazing a little piece of engineering can just make me feel ... a little happier. So thank you for this video! It's one that started my journey.
Last week, I had the chance to see and hear the Credor Spring Drive Minute Repeater. Even if there were a lot of people at the event, the mic on my camera was able to pick the beautiful major third interval that this masterpiece was producing. Such a beauty. Truly a once in a lifetime experience to be able to see a minute repeater in the metal! My pick would be the sound on the Patek Philippe (I actually like the sound of the first chime better than the second one) and the notes of the Hublot. Thanks for this comparison!
The Patek wins, hands down. Obviously, it’s impossible to make an accurate assessment of volume over CZcams, but in terms of the quality of the sound and tonal richness, the PP has the clearest overtones and the most audible harmonics (the different frequencies/additional notes within the fundamental tone). It’s very easy to distinguish the duds in this line up because one hears the grinding ‘thwack’ of the metal against metal in only the less successful examples. The striking hammer does not adequately release (would be my guess) allowing the gong to ring freely, thereby deadening the sound from the outset. It is interesting that the Audemars Piguet has the prettiest and most refined sound, without the fullness of the PP. I can bet that, rather like the PP, although pretty, this would out ‘ring’ the more industrial thwacks of the Hublot et al. Also, I don’t mind admitting that the PP is by far the most beautiful watch. It may be called a woman’s watch but I would certainly wear it with pride. The others look like overgilded lillies drowning in skeletonised dials and superfluous tourbillons.
Sadly, you're wrong. Patek is an obvious winner because it sounds really better, louder and has more precise rhythm. At least Hublot's deserve second place :P
I like that Cartier. Sure I can't afford it. But I like it, heh. Louis V was a bit unimpressive in tone. Hublot was impressive too - did the carbon fibre help by reducing case resonance?
There are 3 different sounds: the first chime indicates the number of hours, the second type of chime indicates the quarter-hours (15 mins), and the last chime indicates the minutes. the Christophe claret had 10 first chimes, so the hour is 10. There were 3 second chimes, so 3 quarter hours have passed (45 mins). And there were 13 third chimes, so 13 minutes passed. so the time would read Hour: 10 Quarters: 3 Minutes: 13 Time: 1058
How come the number of sounds of the watches do not match with the time shown on the dial? Like at 1:23 the time on the dial of the Christophe Claret says its 12:57 yet the sound indicates its 10:59
Of course the Patek was heads above the rest with its sweet, little tone...but surprisingly, Hublot gave the best overall performance. I was taken aback by Hublot's tone... and it's resonance held unbelievable sustain. Hats off also to Louis Vuitton though...as they made a strong showing in this contest !!! ps. Even though I'm in a Cartier phase in my watch collecting now, I must say I was both pleased and dismayed by their entry. While it started out with a pleasant tone, that was quickly overshadowed by "dead fall" strikes by the hammers. I hope that this may only be an anomaly to that particular watch and not the entire line.
Hi guys. Will be really great t see new version of this special episode as comape 6 new repeaters out there like Lange ,Breguet etc. Btw Patek's sound is winner here to me. Best regards
i guess minute repeaters are not as useful today but man i like em. only one i could afford was my citizen calibre 9000 with fake minute repeater but i like it all the same.
Robert I I do I word this... You have know Ideal of what a true time piece is. The movement and accuracy of telling time is amazing in it's self let alone being able to stay accurate without losing no more than a second a day let alone one week. And for that matter over the course of one year. Seiko has become a master of accuracy. The last true innovation in watch making happens to be by Seiko. Spring Drive brings together old watch making with modern Technology. They brought down the old garb of watch makers to the point now they live only in the Luxury segment. 5 of this or 20 of that. Outside of rehashing old movements Seiko has pushed the limits. There are but so many complications to build. Style yes I'll give you that point. Other than that..... Yeah from IWC to Rolex to who ever they haven't done anything to push the limits of the art of telling Time. Their show pieces period. Owners don't even wear them. Only on winders locked up. The real builders of watch making are the private companies limited making of 5-10 a year. Their the ones who left the big houses and are building true limited works of art. And they are no more accurate than the big houses. Seiko's movement is truly amazing. Adding gold or silver or platinum doesn't make a great time piece.
Dario Molina Very nice and interesting comment. We're also very impressed by Seiko's real innovative and true implication in making their watches better and as a fact watchmaking as a whole since it pushes everything to an improved level and no one should rest!
I have a Citizen Grand Complication which is an eco drive quartz watch with a minute repeater function. Wonder how it’s sound compares with some of these mechanical watches. By the way... mine cost less than $1,000. Also, the chimes are electronic but they sound damn good.
Chopard Luc Strike repetición de minutos suena mucho mejor y con más fuerza que todos estos relojes y es más barato que la mayoría que salen en este video
The virgin normal watch: "tick tick tick"
The chad Minute Repeater: *"DING DING DING DONG"*
Hublot definately had the strongest sound, which fit with the watch as it looked very militarized. However, the Patek had a very angelic sound which really went well represented the brand
I like the Patek's sound the best.
Kalsonic they really pay attention to the tone of the chimes, but I think A. Lange & Söhne has the most charming tone.

How?
Javier Santana idiot asshole
I though a train was coming when i heard the hublot.
DANNY M Haha!!
Stand back, a train is coming!
Me, too. But in a good way.
😂😂
I thought the Cartier sounded the best.
Too bad you couldn't get a representative from VC to be amongst the candidates.

Marc you are a spy this is a far back as l have seen you until now , you haven't changed except for the cool glasses 🤓 another great show and tell👏👏👏👏
Should have thrown in a Jaeger LeCoultre. They are true Masters of Complication like Patek.
Patek always on another level
Surprising, I love the sound of Louis Vuitton Minute Repeater the best.
The best Minute repeater is the Zeitwerk by Lange
Very very nice timepiece, big fan too!!!
Why there is no lange in this video?

1st, 4th, and 5th by far have the least clash in resonance between the initial strikes and the after tones.
spectacular
i like the Hublot.... nice deep sound.
Hublot sound hear like the sound of the church bell ^^. love it !
+Martin But i love that one and the audemars :) at the end
+lillskiten1337 نننتزنتز
Thank you very much
I like the Louis Vuitton One...so BIG Grande in 44 mm size with Tambour shape watch case
The minute Repeater is an awesome mechanism
Cartier sounds the sweetest to me. Hublot the worst. I dont' want to image a train coming.
The Hublot sounds really well.
The Cartier made it feel like Christmas for me!
The timekeeper Hublot King Power is stunning and the winner!
A large sovereign ring FP Journe had its place in this comparative minute repeater watch
Sadly, you're wrong. Patek is an obvious winner because it sounds really better, louder and has more precise rhythm.
At least Hublot's deserve second place :P
I'd call them "grandson clocks" because they chime like grandfather clocks, but they're so small
I can't decide. I guess I'll buy one of each.
I like that Cartier. Sure I can't afford it. But I like it, heh. Louis V was a bit unimpressive in tone. Hublot was impressive too - did the carbon fibre help by reducing case resonance?
I thought the Audemars Piquet Millenary with it's oval shaped chimes sounded very nice and clean.
Cartier is my favorite sound
Patek sounded like making a toast with a glass of wine
That's actually the origin of "toasting" with a wine glass - back in the day toast was dipped in alcohol at celebrations
its not about how loud is it....its their different tones / frequencies of sound they produce.
You're right, but volume is also important, how it resonates nicely. Best to you
Nice glove Michael.
Yes, but how's the lume?
Bravo
i think the first watch was the best sounding!
Personally, I thought the Hublot sounded the best but I'd want to own the Christophe Claret. I'm a sucker for skeletonisation
Cartier and Hublot were my favorites.
Curious thing about the patek is that it was the only automatic there.
Btw, what was that weird buzzing sound with the Audemars ?
The regulator.
Cool complication. How does one decipher what time was that (Patek which has the most soothing sound of them all).
God bless, Proverbs 31
There are 3 different sounds: the first chime indicates the number of hours, the second type of chime indicates the quarter-hours (15 mins), and the last chime indicates the minutes. the Christophe claret had 10 first chimes, so the hour is 10. Hour: 10
Quarters: 3
Minutes: 13
Time: 1058
what about the credor?
They wont dare comparing to credor lol
Imagine having a watch collection of exclusively minute repeaters and sonneries
How come the number of sounds of the watches do not match with the time shown on the dial? Like at 1:23 the time on the dial of the Christophe Claret says its 12:57 yet the sound indicates its 10:59
Good comment and I unfortunately can't really answer you on this one, apart if it was maybe an editing mistake...
or the watches are junk haha.
If I could describe the sound... Patek sounds like a cutaway accoustic guitar from Fender while Audemars Piguet has the bass strings from Ibanez.

Serious question: How did you get so wealthy?
Cartier #1
Can someone explain to me what is a minute repeater? Is this like an alarm?
Push a button and it chimes the current time.
1st: Seiko Credor Spring Drive Minute Repeater
czcams.com/video/C3-n0hZlhuI/video.html
Incredible timepiece!!
Must say, the sound of that Cartier is absolutly in a class for it self.
where is credor??
True, we hope to review this soon actually!
Hi guys. Will be really great t see new version of this special episode as comape 6 new repeaters out there like Lange ,Breguet etc. Btw Patek's sound is winner here to me. Best regards
Yes, we would love to make an update on this one!
It is supposed to be a very classy video, but the subtitles keep making me laugh.
I'd wear the patek any day of the week. 33mm is a good gentlemens size, and the watch looks very neutral.
Would look lost on my wrist
Amen
I’m just surprised that Jacquet Droz and Jacob and Co. are not included. Their minute repeaters are way better than all of this brands combined.
Credor sounds the best mainly because the rest of the watch is super quiet and doesn't ruin the chime like these watches...
Interesting comment, but admit that I still haven't seen one in real! Best
They all sounded the same or similar to me...
Hublot not bad. Crisp and deep
Closest I'll probably ever come to hearing pieces like these in real life 😂🥲
Also... you forgot one ;)
Seiko Credor Masterpiece Spring Drive Minute Repeater GBLS998
Stinky Seiko
why
textile brands take part of the Comparison?
the carbon fiber sounds way better than gold and platinum and it's hard to say but that hublot sounds better than the rest.
santa i want one for christmas...
Shellman Grand Complication easily beats them in sophistication, precision and price/quality ratio lol ;d
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i guess minute repeaters are not as useful today but man i like em. only one i could afford was my citizen calibre 9000 with fake minute repeater but i like it all the same.
should've added the Credor Minute Repeater...yes, Patek sounds best in this demonstration, but the Credor is miles ahead of all of them.
Missing IWC minute repeater
Marc, great to see you shaved
;) always some changes!!
This is a blatant attempt at beard shaming! Don’t listen to him, Marc! With best bearded wishes!
The Citizen Campanola Minute repeater is around $5000 and sounds so much nicer than these overpriced watches.
Wish you could have had Seiko's first entry.

Hublot is by far the best here
5.1.22
No Jaeger-LeCoultre?
Is there a reason why he's waring only one glove?
No, apart that you do have better control without gloves, but then you can easily leave scratches...
Hublot sounds like a streetcar
The peak of technology
Quangdh's
Đỉnh cao của kỹ nghệ thủ công chứ, công nghệ liên quan gì đâu ;))
Loved Patek Philippe's the most.
when you dont know how to pronounce the name of the watches, just forget it and enjoy the rest of the video
I have a Citizen Grand Complication which is an eco drive quartz watch with a minute repeater function. Wonder how it’s sound compares with some of these mechanical watches. By the way... mine cost less than $1,000. Also, the chimes are electronic but they sound damn good.
despite being made of carbon fiber, Hublot sound was the best.
this guy is really handsome.
Merci pour la vidéo mai possible de la mettre Français 😔
beauti.
Patek. No contest
Hey who stole your glasses?
Was a long time ago ;)
Paul Gasol😂
So they're all supposed to make the same sounds? Ding ding ding? Where's the Mozart or Beethoven?
Cartier 👍
Cartier was obviously the best sound. Look at all of these patek fanboys playing into the hype
Aw shit brotha u right
Agree cartier the best
Had this cathedral feeling but
Patek sounded like a spoon hitting a glass
What, no Citizen 9000 Calibre minute repeater? lol.
the cleanest sound is cartier's
I like the Seiko Credor the best. Nothing comes close to its accuracy. My Spring Drive stays dead on to the Atomic Clock even after ONE WEEK.
yes, the hublot sounds like a train... industrial versus medieval times.
Cartier was best by far.
Cartier sounded the best
AP is the worst. PP has nicest sound, and I like the sound of Hublot the most
PP has a refined sound.
Chopard Luc Strike repetición de minutos suena mucho mejor y con más fuerza que todos estos relojes y es más barato que la mayoría que salen en este video
Vote for Cartier
I think the Hublot sounds the worst; it sounds like someone hammering steel.
