  • More than 200 cowboy western movies and TV shows have been filmed at Pioneertown in Yucca Valley, CA. The town was built in 1946 as an 1800s old west movie location and set for filming Western movies and TV shows, which were very popular back in the 1940s, '50s and '60s. Today, it's popular with tourists and music fans who visit Pappy and Harriet's Pioneertown Palace to hear new bands and legends like Paul McCartney perform. He played at the landmark bar in 2016.

🤠If I didn’t know any better I would’ve thought it was a deserted town! Love Paul McCartney. Was there ever more beautiful man?😌

Thank you for showing this, even though it's a little over a year ago when you published this one. I never knew about Pioneertown. I knew Ben Johnson (old western TV movie star) and had spent numerous times when Ben and his wife Carol lived in California and more so when they lived in Mesa, AZ. I even knew Ben's step-mother. Ben and his family was from Pawhuska, Oklahoma, which is northwest of Tulsa about an hour drive. My grandfather and Ben's father were good friends and Ben and my father were good friends. Ben and Carol, along with his parents and step-mother are buried in Pawhuska. I go every year to place on their graves on Memorial Day.

That Post office is the place to go when you don't want to line up during holidays

A very informative video. The early morning hours are definitely the best time to film the videos. Very tranquil and calming. Interestingly, I just read that singer Nancy Wilson, who lived in Pioneertown, died at age 81. It will be interesting to see where her final resting place will be. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful experience. Keep up the fantastic work.

How funny. I just read that and was wondering the same thing :-) I had no idea she lived there. Hopefully she will have a grave to visit--early in the morning, before all the other tourists show up :-) Thanks, PC!

Maybe people will teach their children to write thank you notes & coming here would be a nice incentive for that purpose.
