      Well, I have been planning for years (collecting leaflets, brochures, maps obtained at Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf and CMT Stuttgart). An acquaintance living in Dublin has repeatedly urged me to visit the green island. Due to the necessity of caring for my old parents trips have been extremely limited in duration. I know that ferries from Roscoff or Cherbourg allow for convenient sailing from one EUropean country to the other :-).

    Hi Adam (& Zoe), Your videos are great, not too long (although I've happily watched the full Monty or your directors cuts whilst in lockdown) and very informative. Not necessarily looking for pictures of a ferry, perhaps a short overview of route, what was good, what was bad, recommend a cabin, or not, eat before boarding or on board that type of stuff. Keep up the great work.

    For your information the bell ringing would be the Angelus, which is rung daily at 06h00, midday and 18h00, a tradition from years ago to let people working in the fields what time of the day it was and workers used to down their tools at the strike of the bells at those times of the day to say prayers.

    Hi from NZ. Love your video look forward to the rest of your trip of Ireland seems a beautiful country. We like your MH Herman, looks like you have good floor space, is your bed a drop down bed? Lovely spots to park up by the sea, You call it Wild Camping we call it Freedom Camping.

    • @HermanHitstheRoad
      @HermanHitstheRoad  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Karynn, thanks for commenting. Yes, we have a drop down bed above the driving area. We (the UK) incorrectly call it "Wild camping". Wild camping is actually using a tent in the countryside normally remote. Motorhomers have used this term for over-night parking or Boondocking (USA & Canada)

    Hiya, Cobh is pronounced Cove. The bell of St Colmans is ringing for the eveming Angelus at 6pm. The bells are interesting - Laurel & Hardy came to visit Ireland in the 1950s. As the ship approached the Cobh harbour wall, the bells rang out the their theme music, The Cuckoo Song.
    Cobh is a lovely town & we go there quite often. There is a lot of very interesting history connected with that town - Titanic, Lusitania graveyard, Spike Island + many other things.

    How could you visit Cobh & not visit the Heritage Centre? It is fascinating. The Queenstown Story tells the story of the Irish emigrants who left for the Colonies & the West Indies in the 17th Century, the early emigrants to Canada & the US, the Great Famine & the transportation of convicts to Australia. You learn all about the maritime history - the hardship & the heartbreak, also about the connection between Cobh & the Titanic (Cobh was the last town visited by the Titanic before it sank) & of the sinking of the Lusitania. Fascinating museum - would highly recommend it.
