Bilkul sahi...some facts about Jadavpur University production dept- batch size-(35-40) ...one got Goldman Sachs(22 lpa) one got GAIL(psu-17 lpa),one got PAYU(17 LPA),ONE GOT OPTUM(16 LPA),One got Increff(16.5 lpa) ,One got Gupshup (15 lpa),2 got AIRBUS(12 LPA),AND 10 GOT PWC(9LPA),One got ITC(10LPA), 2 got Bajaj auto(9 lpa),2 got ZS(8.93 lpa) till now...5 got pwc internships from 3rd year...And many got infosys,capgemini,tcs,wipro....placement is still going on...any many students are going to opt iits,iims and iisc and foreign universities... Now is it a lower branch?
It is not like IIT, you must give preference to branches between all tier 1 college, like iit nit and IIIT, and college preference when it is between a tier 1 and tier 2 colleges. For example, if you are not getting cse in iit bombay opt for iiit hyderabad, don't go to iit bombay chemical, just for the shake of iit bombay tag.
Ya these type of people just think tag is everything students listen to him take whatever branch they get and regret later don't listen to random people on internet and make a big decision it will be worst thing u will every do do some research on ur own and select a branch u are interested in and don't just go for the tag

You missed a point: You can be the best of a tier two college while being a loser in a Tier 1 IIT. You may lose in competition with the best of the best in tier 1 IIT while you can go to an NIT and grab the best it can offer, can't you? I am talking about tier 1 IITs like B, D, K, M or KGP. I am not sure about ISM Dhanbad since Tier 1 folks don't consider it as a 'real' IIT.
This works both ways. If you wanna be exceptional even within exceptional people then being at the bottom of a top iit initially can be great cuz you're going to the same college as AIR 1-300 and that's a huge plus in terms of peer group. But if you're already at the top in a tier 2 college then there's not much room to improve comparatively. It's my opinion that in the long run top IITs will be better

What he said about certain positions being blocked is totally accurate, my father works in a leading company of a very important industry of the economy, now after becoming one of best people in this field he gets paid highly but the company refuses to give him higher positions as he isn't from a top tier college (he makes more than most of his bosses), and after a decade or two into your career not being promoted is very frustrating even if you make lots of cash

@@deepaksingsss Go for DTU CSE, unless you're getting lower branches in IIT Dhanbad, BHU. Don't go for lower branches in IIT Jammu, Ropar, Palakkad, Dharwad, etc.
Even I am taking Mining in IIT Dhanbad, had option for IET Lucknow CSE, but rejecting that just for the sake of being called an IITian.
