The younger generation has lost a lot. Some of us can luckily remember a time when incredible singing and entertainment were on television LIVE every week.
Once In A Lifetime Anthony & Sammy thrilled us with awesome performances never to be forgotten...awesome memory of these legendary giants...Bravo Anthony & Sammy, and you are both really missed!
Folks, I've been lucky enough to have seen the great ones and of all of them, Sinatra, Martin, doesn't matter. What you're watching now are the two most brilliantly shining stars in the heavens. Thanks Guys!!!
Bklyn4ever: I'm from Flatbush but am living in the Philadelphia suburbs now, BUT whilst visiting the Cooperstown Hall of Fame recently, I picked up a Brooklyn Dodgers hat which I wear very proudly!
This pure genius. These people were magical and still their genius lives on. The young have certainly lost out as mediocrity has taken over our entertainment industry.
Wow, Sean lay off the Redbull. Have no idea what your rant is about, but Mr. Newley and Mr. Davis were multi-talented - no illusions here. I'm old enough to remember both of them, and frankly what they may or may not have done in their private lives is none of our business. What a treat these videos are. Thanks for posting them.
I am just so grateful to to you for posting all this Newley stuff. I have been a fan since the 1960s and had the good fortune to see him live in STW, Good Old Bad Old Days and Scrooge- also curiously, the stepmother of one my staff (Anne Lynn) was his first wife. Strange thing -life! One of the greatest, and most underrated talents, the UK produced- only beaten in the underated stakes by that late great diva, Georgia Brown. AN is greatly missed and is irreplaceable.
oops...me again...I'm from the North Shore side, went to HPHS... met lots of 'dignitaries' who weren't at all dignified... was a news producer and wow! can some people tell the big ones!
@hourlynewscaster Good Point there was some amazing talent then on black and white tv mono sound Maybe the computer age will produce its own form of talent. We will just have to wait and see.
actually, they aren't 'great' just loud and talk a good game.. thanks again for these... Sammy was/is/always will be my Godfather and Tony? We;;, what's not to love??
@lesliekorshak Of the great Chicago Korshak family? South siders I think? Me too! Hope all is well with you. You must have gotten to know a lot of dignitaries in your lifetime Leslie. I'd like to play Jewish geography with you. I'm sure we know a lot of people from the old days. I was Bowen High, class of 62. Of course, I could be all wrong. Name? Weisberg! Take care.
This sends shivers up and down my spine and makes me cry to think we will never hear or see such musical perfection again! Buble - go home!

this is "showbiz" elevated to "art" and at it's best!

Newley composed the music, Bricusse wrote the lyrics.
