- You've asked for an RLC Video, so here it is. The last few releases, some Convention models, and the upcoming Pagani. Plus, many have mentioned QC issues with the McLaren. Let's open a sealed model and see what we find.

The McLaren F1 was one of the most damaged castings I received... in fact, the one you show in the video has very visible details of paint finishes on the driver's door, plus it doesn't close the door completely either.
If Mattel releases another RLC variant of the McLaren F1, let's hope they now take care of all those defects in the current casting.

I year back I bought the green Lamborghini countach, it had similar qc issues. There were scratches in the paint and the doors didn’t stay open/weren’t flush. And they did it again with a McLaren. I doubt they will fix it.
They won't fix it cause the Mattel/hot wheels fan Boys will buy anything they release!
At this price point there's way more to die cast than rlc and crap matchbox makes!

@@llosttprophett splotchy paint like smudges in it, windows looked ugly like they weren’t on right or something and one door didn’t stay open properly, for the price with shipping it’s not worth it
For the Cost In Australia and QC issuesof RLC, Mini GT is quickly converting me.
Unfortunately, I got one of the bad batches. Glue all over the exterior with a permanent fingerprint on the side. My first bad experience with the RLC line and hopefully the last.
Same here mine has like a partial fingerprint that’s exactly what it looks like you described it perfectly
I heard some guys wanted to return it and they got refunded and got to keep it still
The Pagani Huayra R seems to have set the Quality Control standard
If Mattel produce all their Cars in this Condition

and only Release their Products of High Standardisation.

If there are too many complaints on the qc, that's definitely something is wrong with the factory. They should be aware and ready to compensate something to the collector. I experienced myself with some toy brand from Japan that have an awesome aftersales service. The figured I bought got quality issue on the painting as well. Guess what, they provide to you a replacement part for free including postage right to your door. That is something Mattel need to take as example.

Yeah mine had some weird fuzz haha. It also had a lot of glue residue in the windows. I think in general… opening features are really tough to pull off well in 1/64 and more often than not I find myself wishing they didn’t go for it. The Pagani looks pretty rad though!!!

crazy thing is the Integra they could have checked before shipping since its in a blister and they chose not to. the McLaren we can argue comes sealed in a box from manufacturer so Mattel might not check before shipping.

@@drift_works All three I acquired have paint chipping, some have misaligned paint apps or sticker apps, but all have chipped or dirty paint.
Skip the RLC McLaren, for USD35++ it's shite, do yourself a favour and get the MiniGT one instead for half the price. Thank me when you have the MiniGT model.
You could check LCD or CM model, they tend to do a good job, some even have opening features

It amazes me that people are so hyped for our LC models, but on the flipside, I’m always hearing complaints about how you can’t get this model or that model, why even invest collectors? I know I don’t. I just collect what I love whether it’s main lines or premiums, not going to spend 35, or $50, on the secondary market.
So you think it’s a waste ?

I personally think future versions of the RLC Mclaren shouldn't have any opening parts. I shipped my Mclaren back to Mattel for a refund, for $44.00 shipped I was expecting better quality. The Pagani looks pretty sweet though.
THIS is what we have to all do with the bad ones, I did the same.
I think they just gotta sort themselves out. The opening butterfly doors are one of the coolest parts of it. And opening parts are what set RLC apart from other tiers
Its bad with the McLaren. I noticed the color is disappointing as soon as I took it out of the box, the smudges, the doors etc.... Mattel has a strong budget, why would they drop the ball on this?
They drop the ball on plenty of rlc cars! Been collecting for 20yrs don't get me started, the list is long...

My McLaren looked fine. I hadn't even opened the case until you mentioned QC issues and I saw mention of a bunch of returns on a thread on the HW boards today. I popped it open during this video and I don't have the paint issues yours has. The doors were shut with the plastic inside the case holding them closed. I popped it out and opened the doors and found you can't have both doors open and put the cover back on the case. Drivers door shuts a bit worse than the passenger which looks fine to me considering the scale and the difficulty of making a butterfly style door. Overall it looks great with my gullwing Mercedes and Lambo Countach.

I guess I got lucky of the F1. I was disappointed that my doors wouldn’t stay up by themselves. Hopefully they can overcome all the issues. I really want to see more of this casting. I would love to see a need for speed version of this and the CLK GTR

One thing I’d like to see is a revitalizing of the 55 gasser. Just how they did the suspension detail on the RLC Javelin, they should do the same for the gasser.

You lucked out and got a good one.My doors are all f***** u* on mine.They won't stay open.You almost can't even open one and then they fall down and won't even shut.My paint is pretty fucked up but not the worst and at least my headlight stickers are about right. Congrats

Only thing I'm not a huge fan of on the G63 is the fact that the rear passenger corner where the ladder is you can very clearly tell that the mold of the truck is raised. It wouldn't have been bad but they added the badging there so it just sticks out to my eyes.
Yep i was pretty disappointed with my McLaren but that Pagani is amazing.
Just looked the Mercedes AMG is sold out, the Barracuda is not. I believe the Teal first use is on the Cuda, think I read that on the site.
yes teal is 100% a new rlc color, the designers mentioned it at the convention where the cuda was a convention car.
Yup, 100% 1st release of that color. The VW Drag Bus (Selections) will be the 2nd release of the teal. The Pagani is still available also!
I’m keeping my F1. My driver’s side door doesn’t stay open, and there’s a paint rub on the passenger side door. I wanted better, but I also want an RLC F1. So, I don’t want to take the risk of an exchange or return for a refund. My life isn’t worse because my F1 arrived imperfect. I just wanted something better.
Pagani looks amazing. I have the Tarmac version so I can display them side-by-side.
I love looking how all these brands approach the same cars and same colors. Appreciating the differences are part of my collecting interest.

The doors on mine are a lighter orange than the body. Same door as yours doesnt close properly. One of the headlight decals is completely off center. Yeah, that one was a bit disappointing.
I just ordered the 1968 custom Plymouth Barracuda and the VW today so let's see how long it takes to get to South Australia.
There is a weird wave in the paint on the doors of the F1. Yours and mine has it. I expected the doors not to close.
I was bummed when I heard the McLaren had tons of QC issues, it's a model I was definitely hyped for like everyone else. Luckily the only issues I found on mine were a tiny paint smudge on the right-hand door and that door not seating as well as I would've liked. Honestly they aren't even noticeable unless you really look for them. I agree that people often complain about the smallest defects wayyyy too much. That Pagani looks amazing! Got mine through Overdrive and it's already shipped!
The Cuda and Mustang are def my favorites of the RLC. Fortunately my McLaren doesn’t have any issues but I think HW could’ve done a better job with the details. The Pagani is ok, but just not my type of thing even though I did still get it thru Overdrive. People are crazy paying 2nd market prices for the Pagani, bcuz it’s still available on RLC.
55 gasser is my favorite casting I did get the moon eyes and I got a bunch of them I need yet … it’s not played out in my opinion… I do think the recent selections drag bus is played out and was mad it won 😂
My McLaren has a badly fitting door. Of course it's the right side. The fit on the bottom makes the gap on the left quite noticeable. EXACTLY like this one Lamley got.
The left door one mine is perfect at least and the tampos are good and straight
And as far as the McLaren, maybe have the rear engine hatch have the opening feature?
While I love my McClaren cause it’s one of my first handful of RLC orders… overall QC is not good and the doors.. one locks in upright position with ease.. the other wants to stay down I really have to finesse it and find a sweet spot and *NOT BUMP* my dresser
Complain about the qc of the mclaren but at least FedEx didn’t lose yours in the mail. Goodbye $35

aside from the mclaren shenanigans which thankfully i didnt buy, the pagani huayra R is def as good as 2 mini gt cars. that pagani as good as the lamborghini elite 64
i feel hotwheels developing with some bad steps and some great steps. lets hope hotwheels gets a more greater catch to modelling!

You know, critics vs Hot wheels come from fans who loved the brand and their disappointment. If RLCs would have been $10 pieces, they would find a spot within MiniGT, Tarmac, Inno64, collectors. When you sell an F1 for $45 with shipping and taxes, you are setting a high bar and you can't afford to disappoint. For half the price you get triple quality from the other brands mentioned. For me, putting a shiny paint and a premium $6 model doesn't trick me anymore. It would for $10.

Both my advan skylines came in the shipping box was perfect condition no damages even the clamshells no damages but both cars I got after opening the clamshells both cars windows were cracked up pretty bad inside the clamshells like they just put some crappy cards in a clam and said screw it 🤷♂️
On mine the drivers side door fell offas will as the bottom piece that glues onto the bottom of the door. I emailed them about it but they did send it back but if they don't have any left I just get refunded the money for it so I've kept it sms just figure I'll display it from the passenger side
When you spend the money for a "quality collector piece" you tend to have higher expectations which other brands seem to have less problems delivering the value. If my mainline or super that I paid less than $2 for has imperfe tions, I don't care but. If a $25-$35 + shipping car has imperfections, I do care.
Had to get 2 of the cudas and snatched a Huayra even tho my dream super car is a McLaren 675LT
It's a shame that RLC has become such a gamble but at least I can get a 100% refund when I need to send them back. I had to send back one of my F1s as there was a chip in the paint on one side and the doors could've been more flush. The other one I got has some paint consistency issues but no scratches and the decals are good. Doors are alright but not perfect and one of the windows is a little smudged with glue. Still okay though overall compared to what I've seen. Both my Barracuda's came in perfect condition glory to God.
I think after seeing the Pagani in this video, I'm going to definitely try and get at least one. It seems the general feeling is positive for this one.

I am really disappointed of the McLaren! Mine has some sort of scratches on both doors plus the ugly misaligned door on the driver side! This car was one of the main reasons i paid the overdrive, so i hope that mattel takes this more serious and improves the quality control for this castings
For 30 bucks on most RLC cars I’ve been passing it’s just not there for me on the price point

Surprised so few people openly speak about the QC of hw premium and rlc models dropping recently. I have received numerous rlc models with damaged paint, misaligned headlights etc. The excuses cannot be made for the RLC models at their price point being so faulty.

The quality control on thet McLaren is pretty egregious even by Hot Wheels standards. It's one thing for products in the mainline all the way up to RLC to have paint and tampo imperfect ions, but to have functionality issues and trash finishing is unacceptable.
All the previous G wagons are lame with some black tarp for a rear end...look at the boulevard!! that's why nobody collects them...this is the first nice version one that has the IT factor!! Now lets see a SLR mercedes and a 2009 SL65 brabus black series bi-turbo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah my McLaren arrived just fine but the QC is trash. Paint is scratched n scuffed etc. Im not hopeful that my Pagani will show up in good shape

The McLaren would've been fine without opening doors. The doors are where all of my issues are with mine.

I wish RLC would just ditch all the opening parts. They add no value to me and over complicate the model to the point there are tons of QC issues.
My F1 has doors that the paint didn't adhere to.
The gaps on the Maclaren aren't as bad as most teslas.
Mattel has become so focused on pushing out so many models and flooding the market with Hot Wheels that they obviously don't really focus on QC anymore. If they want to charge a premium on these products, it should not be of rubbish quality like this. There are many better quality options from other brands at much better prices available in the market now.
I'm sorry about your terrible McLaren. I am very bummed when I get a bad quality RLC. Even a bad premium is lame. But for RLC prices and especially the overdrive extra cost, we should get high quality.
My McLaren is nice but I won't try and open anything. I am never a fan of moving parts.

To me the main disappointment is mattel is a multi-BILLION dollar company. There really shouldn't be any excuses or apologies for poor QC.
Considering smaller companies like tomica or mini gt can put out an arguably better product at a lower price point, mattel is clearly backsliding and are just riding the coat tails of their legacy right now.

RLC 2024 has been a bit disappointing so far. I got the Beetle and that's it.
The metallic blue G-wagon is 4 years too late. MotorHelix did it first and much, much better.
No moving parts, and they really cheaped out on the wheels. If not for the paint, I'd easily pass as a Mainline, and not a great one.
The McLaren should have been taken off the market. That’s unbelievable. Proportions are off, terrible stance and build quality. A very underwhelming set of Collectors too. The Pagani is FANTASTIC.

Well M2s *look* nice. But they’re usually broken. It’s a shame to let my son open a chase piece only for the mustang to be broken. Won’t be buying them again. Better off with anything else 😂

I wheel swapped my G Wagon, I love it. The barracuda is awesome, it’s a similar color as the aqua Kawa-bug-a released last year. I can’t wait to see what that elite 64 Bugatti type 59 is going to look like.

Convention cars are just customs that sell for way too much on eBay I can build that gassers for about $12 and no one would know the difference

No, it's not your job to tell us that Mattel is aware of their QC issues with the McLaren (and the Integra), but do they even have someone filling that job? It's all radio silence from Mattel. For an exclusive club, I sure feel excluded.
That Overdrive subscription: How is it better than the base RLC membership? How is it $80+ better? These are the questions collectors should be asking and getting answers for. For that amount of price difference, QC should be paramount. I don't know about other collector desires, but it seems to me that for that Overdrive price point, RLC cars issued should be top shelf. That means no issues. Isn't that what the extra money is for?
Had a QC issues with my McLaren. Door broke off as soon as I opened it.
All the complaints gone cuz its at least toys greatly made in its price range😎
The McLaren doors are atrocious and the pagani is hit or miss with the quality of the detachable piece on it. Personally I’m not signed up for RLC but all the QC issues they’ve had recently makes me glad I didn’t sign up.

@@ruperto805 Oh. There are a few glitches still. Not as much anymore. Everything has been extremely easy to get for the last year and a half or so. They make 35k+ of everything. So they are no longer exclusive collectable (or AS exclusive) as they used to be.
Except for the pink mustang which they accidentally took limits off of....every single release since the club car has been easy to get for 2024. The only thing besides the pink mustang that sold out was the F1 McLaren and that took a couple days.
Personally I would not waste your time or money. they release some cool stuff but it's all so easy to get later on at or close to retail. This will be my last year and I only bought one thing so far.
They do release some HWC stuff that you don't need a membership for.

The only one this year so far that angered people was the Pink Mustang. A glitch took limits off and some people bought several resulting in a 10 minute sellout. But except for that one and the McLaren (took two days to sell out )everything from the new year has not sold out and remains in the shop. A couple from last year as well.
If I were you I personally would not even join. It's no longer exclusive and everything is easy to get and close to retail prices In the aftermarket. In fact some things are going a bit lower.
This will be my last year joining. The forums have become pretty much a ghost town except on sale day or when a new store release comes out. Definitely not as enjoyable anymore.
