- The next mix of Hot Wheels Car Culture is dropping soon, and I've got a preview...with a twist. I love the theme of this set, but I would have taken a slightly different approach. Check it out.

AFAIK it's not possible to licence Saab anymore, the rights ended up getting separated between different companies due to the attempts to save it and at least one has made it clear they're not willing to cooperate for licencing
I would love them to get the license/rights to Saab, imagine a Saab 900 Aero with the full bodykit and those beautiful 3 point rims UNF 😍
To me the Audi is most "boring" one in this set. I think an American car would have been a good addition, but to be honest around my parts the American cars tend to be the peg warmers.
Could have been a good opportunity to showcase counties you don't normally associate with car production, Brazil is a good one but perhaps a Volvo from Sweden, Holden or Ford from Australia, the Proton from Malaysia and then maybe a new casting for another country.

-Renault Turbo 5 representing France
-Land Rover Defender 90 representing UK
-Hyundai Veloster N (new model) representing South Korea

I ordered this set on eBay and then found all five before the first set had even arrived. It wasn't at my local Walmart since it has a horrible scalping problem. I was dropping my younger brother off at college and couldn't resist checking the HW section at that Walmart. At first I was pissed at myself, but I decided to snag the second set to open, and I'm so glad I did because these cars are awesome! The Supra is definitely the highlight for me. Great vid as always!
I agree completely with your changes to this set. Holden would be great. I’d love to see the 2006 Holden Monaro. It’s the Australian version of the 06 Pontiac GTO they made a year or two ago.
The German cars will be the peg warmers. The three basics turned premium will definitely be in my collection.
Some more French cars in Car Culture would be nice for a change!

YES! Rumor has it that there will be a Peugeot 205 later this year and i really hope it's true because there's so much cool cars that could be done with Peugeot. 405/406/406 coupe touring cars in a bunch of different liverys, 205 group b just to name a few. And hot wheels already has a great casting for the renault 5 turbo which would look great with full decos.

If they were to make an American car into this set, I wish it would be the 1957 Cadillac eldorado brougham, it was a great casting and it's basically gone ever since.

From your que last year, I got the Alfa Romeo in basic, and you were so right. It really is nice, especially for a basic! In fact, seeing this supposedly more premium version, I'm not motivated to get it. The basic is so nice, that I'm not seeing much difference in this Car Culture version.
I'm also getting more and more spoiled by the super nice castings by other companies, though they are admittedly more expensive. I just learned of GCD. Then there's Tarmac, Mini GT, Poprace, etc. etc. Plus, I really don't have the interest nor space (money?) to be a serious collector. I collect quite randomly. Whatever strikes my fancy. So, higher price cars and trucks keeps me from going crazy.
These still have too much "gloppy" paint jobs that take away from the door seams, handles, mirrors, all the details. I did just order that newer Datsun 280Z from the F&F series.

I wish I could only get the Audi S4, I had a Silver A4 with black rims and silver lip then bought a Black Audi S4 it's the perfect combo of 2 of my favorite cars I've owned.

.....for GTV6, the basic wheel looks better. I hope Mattel will make the Real Rider version of that wheel.
Just got mine in, and my mk7 golf is purple. I'm not upset, i think it's neat. The inside of the door seams and all the cracks look to be the correct blue. However, the main body is metallic purple. It looks completely different than all of the other review models I have seen.
While I understand sentiment and rational about country double dipping, in defense of the Golf: its color and rims are so beautifully reminiscent of the iconic R32 [though this is a Mk7, not a Mk5 the guys did down the hallway]
i would like to see the audi quattro imsa gto converted to premium and also, i want to see done more editions of the renault 5 turbo, mg metro 6r4 and the newer ford escort cosworth, yes these are all racing focused cars, but i think those works well even with some clean paint and in a mix like this.
This mix is awesome I would be looking for these for sure.
Would be also so cool to see some 80's or 90's Holden Commodore in HW Car Culture series.
And Commodore is already done at 90's, i have white with blackwall-tires.
I definitely agree about Germany. The MK7 is not really a very good casting, and that Audi has been overused in the past 2 years or so. I'd go for something else like one of the new Mercedes castings. We got a bunch of those, don't we? From the top of my head I can think of 3 or 4 brand new castings that would fit very very well in that set. That RS2 has been way too overused. Multiple mainlines, premium, zamac, STH... Mercedes would be a better choice.
The birds signing are just beautiful and peaceful :)
My pick would be a clean version of the Ford Escort Cosworth to represent the UK, british cars still feel a bit under represented compared to german and italian

I’m thinking a VW beetle would have been nice. Also an american casting must be on that set, maybe a muscle car or a cool classic pick-up truck. They have many options for their next releases, some casting from the UK should be there too.
That Supra looks cool with the 😜 , the VW white wheels too . I always have the urge to panel line, it’s the customizer in me

I think they could've/should've gone in two different routes.
1) do the big 5: US, UK, Germany, Italy and Japan
Supra and GTV are perfect, a BMW or different Audi would be good, I like the Camaro idea, and then maybe convert one of the new Lotus's to premium for the UK
2) do the next big five: Sweden, France, South Korea, Australia, and either Brazil/Croatia/or
A Volvo wagon, maybe the Renault RS 01 for France, Could convert the Kia Stinger for Korea, there's plenty of Aussie casting ideas, and I love the idea of converting the Rimac Nivera to premium for Croatia.
I would've loved to see the 1999 Mustang return or get a new Terminator Mustang casting
That ‘82 Supra, it looks so amazing, now it has it’s made of this car.
I do agree 3 german cars is a strange choice though... feel like they should have kept 1 (Brasilia is beautiful) then a 2 from a selection of french (Bugatti/Renault) english (Jaguar/Aston) or american (Pontiac/Cadillac) would have made more sense, personally I can see the Golf and Audi being peg warmers easily.
THAT Supra however is absurdly nice holy crud, the trim with the one upturned light and the hood detailing is just WOW what a casting 100% picking that one up with the GTV ASAP
It be nice if Hot Wheels brought back the P-928 without doing the off-road decal, and I'll see which one of these cars are peg warmers.
if you want something more rare,how about the proton saga from Malaysia,all the country above we usually heard of,but Malaysia might give something to looked for
I just don't get the intended purpose of this set. Exotic Envy, F&F, Spettacolare, Dragstrip, Auto Strasse etc, all have a really clear theme of what the set is about. Aside from the Brasilia, this set just feels like "here's some cool cars we made premium and we'll call it uh... uh.... World Tour! Yeah, that's it..." If this was supposed to be iconic cars from each continent or country I feel like they started it off wrong. I would have liked to see a really instantly recognizable iconic car from each continent, whether they're over done or not.
1. Europe - 911 (something older, 964-ish and iconic/nice)
2. Aisa - 71 Skyline or Toyota Crown or 2000GT?
3. Australia - Holden or Falcon Ute
4. South America - Brasilia
5. North America - Corvette (C2, 3, 4 or 5)
I would have gone with the '74 Brazilian Charger instead of the Chevrolet SS. Good choice for the Camaro to represent U.S.A. two Muscle cars would have made the set more appealing to me.
What I would have swapped out one of the Germans for:
Australia: A new colour for the Monaro or another gen of Commodore or a new Sandman Panel Van casting. Maybe even give the XB Falcon another Premium casting or make another old Ford Falcon like an XY, XD and for the culture, an AU.
Sweden: No brainer, a Volvo 240 or an 850 Wagon maybe even a 240 wagon or an S80 as a new casting.
France: An older Alpine A110.
UK: make a Vauxhall Lotus Carlton (new casting) or a plain version of the Sierra Cosworth
I would say add England and show either the MG or Caterham, perhaps Lotus. Spain would be a good one also with SEAT or Tramontana as choices. For the US my choice besides the 70 Camaro would be the Plymouth 1970 Challenger 340 six pack or the AAR Cuda. Perhaps the AMC Trans Am Javelin.

love the final comments on that... i liked the models a lot more than previous car Culture sets, already ordered mine. On that same thought, Mr Lamley, do you have any suggestion on where could I buy hot wheels at reasonable price? Note that i Live in Mexico, so if you know any retail or online store that can ship internationally, besides the collectors page, I would appreciate the information. re-sellers over here are ruthless!

Hot wheels could have used Holden SS Commodore for Australia, but of course they don't produce them anymore
It would require new tooling,but a Australian Chrysler Valiant Charger would be a good casting not done in 1/64.
That Supra is very nice. A model of 88-92 Supras would be cool too.
I only want the Toyota for the wheels. The Brasília is cool but would of liked it in blue. I would have done American but the 84 corvette in red & the volvo 850 saloon

If they do a second release of World Tour, this would be my ideal lineup:
1. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 - representing France
2. '64 Corvette Stingray - representing America
3. '90 Acura NSX - representing Japan
4. W Motors Lykan Hypersport - representing UAE/Middle East
5. '08 Holden VE UTE SSV - representing Australia
This set could have been done as a Silver Label and I wouldn't have minded. It's such an uninspired choice of castings and theme (a very Matchbox-like theme--difference being Matchbox has the casting variety to pull off an interesting "World Tour" set). Together with the recent Slide Street and Exotic Envy, Car Culture is the least exciting line this year to me so far, behind the revamped Pop Culture, behind Fast and Furious Premium, and way behind Boulevard.
The Golf MK7 is such a Factory Fresh mainline with a wheelswap. The white wheels save the whole deal, makes it look like a tiny sneaker. Upon rewatching the turntable shot a few times, I'm starting to dig it. EDIT: Rewatched video. Still don't like it. Yeah, swap it with an Australian car or an American classic.
Which is more than I can say for the S4 quattro. TERRIBLE wheel choice--the 5-spoke is too simple and the silver rim too cheap for an Audi. I would have gone either all-black (10-spoke) or silver/chrome. YES, the 94 Audi Avant RS2 would have been amazing. Has it been that long since we saw the Volve 850 Estate? We recently got a very nice metal/metal version of it in Silver Label's Hot Wagons.
Agreed, 2 German cars in the mix is silly, considering we have Deutschland Design for that.
Agreed on the Supra. Highlight of the set. FANTASTIC wheels, Very neat red line to accentuate the black trim on white body. Just beautiful. Good consolation prize for those (like me) who weren't able to find the red super.
VW Brasilia. Can we agree that this car is why this set exists at all? It's neat, I like the color, I even like the wheels (that match this car well). I had no idea the SP2 was Brazilian.
Alfa Romeo GTV6. The red and white mainlines flew off shelves locally. The grey one this year clogging the pegs :) As someone who doesn't wheelswap, I appreciate a premium version of the red one, with chunky tires. I love chonky tires in premium for retro race cars.
Lastly, I disagree with the artwork. Just like the Spettacolare set, I find the blotch of colors on the cards behind the cars in both sets so off-putting. It feels like a quick Photoshop job. They lack that coffee table-worthy artwork that I find synonymous to Car Culture cards. EDIT: example of good "world tour" card art is last year's themed exotics/super car postcards set--not coffee-table-worthy, but memorable enough that I still remember it as one of the better themed/silver label artwork.
Its just first release of world tour, 100% there will be nr2 set, with skyline, volvo, american one and some other two…

I hate those cars with one light up and the other one down it just ruins the whole effect of the car . I know sometimes the lights get stuck i should know I owned a Nissan 200SX Coupe Red Loaded with 200SX on the bottom Doors sometimes the pop up light would get stuck but the car looks finished with all lights down or all up but not 1 up and 1 down

I don't understand why they opted for 2 German cars. The Golf i would keep for sure, as it is an icon that has endured the test of time. It's even more baffling when you consider the total absence of American cars. So yes, the Camaro, or a Ford Mustang would have been great in place of the Audi. Or something from the UK.
The other car in this set that just doesn't work for me is the Toyota. Nothing against the model. It is a great model. But it stands out as the only heavily modified model, while the others appear more stock (even if they are not).
My last complaint is that I would have liked to see a new model. Car Culture used to bring new models with every set. I miss that. And yes, that could have been a good chance to introduce a ute to Hot Wheels collectors :)
Any time you see "mk" followed by a number, assume it is "mark". It certainly is for Golfs. I can't think of any instance of using "mk" which isn't that.
And ANOTHER premium Audi S4. I collect Audis, it's nice, but I don't need another B5 S4. Do an RS7, or a TT, or a pikes peak quattro, or a hotboi modded A3, or even a Q2, one of the very few OK-looking crossovers. The golf is also very uninspired, they could even do another generation, or a Polo or Scirocco or Corrado, and it'd be more interesting, not to mention a Passat or Arteon or Phaeton. As it is, they seem determined to reissue a few castings over and over, it seems like they actively want some cars to be boring and skipped over. Guys, the idea is to make _everything_ popular, so us mugs buy it.

The mind set against American made cars , is not founded , we just recently began jumping on the European , and Asian markets due to the factories being located in countries outside of the US. ,so most of the Ideas are emanating from these areas. If factories where based in the US it would be a greater push of ideas for American brand vehicles , frankly the push for the foreign vehicles is getting a little tiresome , there should be some resolve to mix the market a bit more ,so that collectors of all types would be able to enjoy something of their own preference.

The Brasilia,GTV 6 and S4 are fantastic,the Golf is boring and the "winking" Supra gets old so fast.I would replace the Supra with a clean yellow Evo 6.The Golf I would replace with a premium debut of the '84 Firebird.

They definitely got lazy with this set no doubt especially with using two representation’s for Germany…would’ve dropped the mk7 and added either Sweden or American casting to the mix instead. Supra will be gobbled up stupid quick and that’s about it. The brasilia is cool to see go premium though. Very meh mix in my opinion
