Its an old restaurant school recipe and the school was called "Hasselbacken". I believe its were an old classic restaurant is today. Its made thinner cut potatoes, with melted butter that is brushed on the potatoes every ten minutes. It takes about 35-40 minutes and the last 10 you sprinkle some fine bread crumbs on top after the last brushing. And its normally served together with some meat, steamed veggies and a nice sauce that goes well with the meat. Can be a classic cognac sauce for example and steak. Its an old Swedish classic recipe first mentioned in 1911. It can be topped with cheese but its not the original. This does look good, but a bit different than Hasselbacks-potatoes.
@@Lineyakitty its very much a classic dish and its not just the cut. Of course anyone can cut their potatoes any way they want, but its not just the cut when it comes to Hasselbacks-potatoes. That would be like saying a Pavlova is just meringue.

All you need for Hasselback potatoes is melted butter, salt and maybe some garlic. Brush the potatoes with salted, melted butter, cook in oven, brush once or more during cooking time. Potatoes are ready when slightly golden on the outside and soft inside. I'm Swedish and my family makes Hasselback potatoes for New Year's Eve (and sometimes for other more festive meals). We keep it simple flavor wise as they're served with beef tenderloin and a very rich portobello gravy (I cut the portobello into smaller pieces, fry them in a lot of butter, add a stupid amount of heavy cream, thicken if needed and season with a bit of soy sauce, salt and pepper to taste, it's done in the same pan as the meat was cooked in so the gravy also grabs the flavors from the meat)
I would add the butter and seasonings before you put them in the oven and check on them until it's golden brown then cover with aluminum foil until done
Lmaooo, are you talking about cilantro??? I always thought it tasted a bit too fresh and overwhelming, and that’s the best description that relates to it!!

They work just fine in a regular oven. Never cooked them any other way... Air fryer has to be the most stupid waste of counter space ever, really don't get the hype... If you have an oven, stove top and maybe a microwave, you don't need another appliance to make a meal...
@@ReyOfLight The benefit of an airfryer is it's *fast*, does not heat up your kitchen, nimble in temperature, easy to clean, portable (I've brought it to friends gatherings so I don't take up kitchen space to make my dishes), captures bacon grease in the basket so I can save it easily, cooks bread, desserts, the best taco meat I've ever had. Look up Pro Home Cook's videos on air fryers. He was skeptical too. I love to use mine outside on the deck so there's no smell inside. It's also not hot to the touch when it's on which means I can pick it up and move it if I have to. Safer with kids. Total game changer.
I really like this version because it doesnt have a pad of butter between each slice. These potatoes always look so good but I just can't eat so much butter in my diet or I'll have issues. Nice to see a version that looks delicious but is a bit more health conscious c:
