I got my middle name from this song! My parents were so cool back in the 80s. They listened to The Cult, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, etc... It makes sense that I am a Goth myself, my parents were goths as well. I love Gothic rock!!!

Saw them at Leeds Uni (or Poly- cant remember now) supporting Bauhaus in 1982. Both bands were excellent- got talking to Ian Astbury after the gig and he got me back stage where I stood around looking awkward with the guys from SDC and Bauhaus for an hour. Will never forget it....

My brother was (still is) the bassist for the Not Sensibles (I'm in Love with Margaret Thatcher and The Bishop) who were backing the Southern Death Cult way back in the early 80's. My brother brought home one of the mixing desk recordings of one of the concerts they attended with early songs by Ian and his gang when they were still called The Southern Death Cult. Brilliant music. took my girlfriends to see the later Cult when Ian had the most amazing hair in the mid to late 80's. Agree with Fire woman, his voice was amazing.

I remember when this music was still considered punk, 'positive punk' they used to call it but at the same time the emerging OI bands were also given the same title by a rival music paper so supporters of both styles dropped the name and we ended up with Goth and OI, (the awful 'post punk' hadn't been invented yet) they should of just stuck with punk.
