Song 1 sounded like one guitar track to me, but with the Haas effect on it. On Joe's song, I would recommend automating the whole intro down in volume, because when it kicked in, it almost sounded quieter. Nice old school vibe.

One thing I'm noticing is some of these guys got way to much going on with the Drums. It's ok to keep it simple at times.

How come when I pull in a new Megadeth track to reference, it's clipping? No processing is on the output.

3:28 I've had people on Reddit tell me that they could hear some distortion/clipping in my mixes. But I'm not sure what to listen for when it comes to clipping. Of course, I can tell if it's obvious distortion but my inexperienced ears can't pick up subtle clipping. I didn't notice anything weird in the track your critiqued too.
Could you please explain what it's is you're hearing exactly?

I cant hear the clipping, but I can here that the mix is ultra squashed and judging by the wave form it looks like you have slammed it way too hard with the limiter. Limiters can create artifacts and I wonder if that is what Bobby is hearing.
The only part I thought sounded like clipping was one of the vocal sounds, but it could have equally been harshness that could be solved with a de-esser
Also you should set your limiter output too no more than -0.1 (I actually set mine to -0.5) this will stop any inter sample peaks which also can cause clipping, and ts not always obvious at the time.(inter sample peaks are peaks of wave forms that exceed the output limit but are not detected as they are between samples, setting at -0.1 to -0.5 will stop this from happening. Some limiters have True Peak Detection/ISP to get around this, but they also do sound slightly different/changes the sound of the limiter, it also uses more CPU, setting too -0.1 to -0.5 avoids this
Digital clipping usually sounds crackly high pitched (upper mids and highs) I have noticed you hear it mostly when a sound signal "blooms" , or at least it stands out a lot when that happens.
I would advise setting your limiter to output -0.5 and also put a compressor between the mix and the limiter. A perfect comp for this is the Klanghelm MJUCjr , its a master BUS compressor, and its free. Set it so the needle is only moving very slightly. This will glue you mix together and catch peaks before they hit the limiter which means your Limiter has to work less, so its easier to get it loud with out slamming the mix and crushing it flat (you can use less extreme Threshold basically)
Ideally You dont really want any compressor or Limiter doing more than 3db gain reduction (more plugins sharing the load). This is not a rule, but if you stick roughly too this, it will allow you too compress and limit in a more transparent way and retain more of your dynamics
I master all my tracks to -8.0 LUFS, with limiter output -0.5 which is actually quieter that most streaming services (-10 to -15 LUFS usually) so it will get turned down anyway, most tracks should be possible to master too -8.0 LUFS without distortion or limiter artifacts

The track at 6:15 is fucking insane
