Took my dad to the pharmacy last week to pick up his and my mom's meds (they're in their 60s). It filled a full sized paper grocery bag. It hurts to see them take so much medication. Nearly all of it is diabetic related. Medicines, just to treat the food they choose to eat. Dr. Cywes has saved me from going down that same path. I've already reversed diabetes and 4 points away from having NAFLD reversed. He and Dr. Berry have saved my future!

@@danielwiederkehr5163 You're definitely right about that. Luckily, (somewhat) my NP knows how I am and she doesn't try to talk me into pills. When my father was 80 he was so ill that he could not feed his cows or do anything on his farm , I told my brother that dad probably had 6 months left . Because of an article that Lou Downs wrote I ask Dad “ how many meds are you taking “? He replied 14 and one was Prozac, I was angry and told my father that he has never suffered from depression and that some of his meds were probably hurting him . On his own he decided to stop them all except blood thinners and within 8 or 10 days he was baling hay

My grandmother smoked her entire adult life and my mom would beg her to stop. Now, I feel the same way. I want to beg them to stop eating the foods that are killing them. It's hard.

@@pinkandpink4577 After my father discontinued most of his meds he went back to the doctor for his check up , they told him that he was doing amazingly well and his blood pressure was excellent for his age and to keep taking his BP meds which he replied “ I don’t take it anymore,” to which the assistant was horrified and said you must take your BP medication.Bottom line , many folks are under stress when the doctor checks their BP and may prescribe BP meds but often if B P is checked at home it may give a much lower and accurate reading . My father’s bad habit was that he fried and ate a lot of meat ( greasy pork sausage, bacon etc) . Myself, I tend to eat grilled or baked fish or skinless poultry when I would rather eat red meat .

I can confirm all these things first hand. My mom was in the last year of her cancer journey. By luck or fate I also found keto at that time. Skipping the first part of the story where me making a high fat shake brought her back from deaths door, months later it came to TPN.
While I knew pumping glucose into her was a bad thing we were at desperate times. We agreed. Within 2 days she was having so many issues. More pain. More mental issues. Noticeable pain increase in the area of tumors. More bruising. Crazy high blood sugars. On and on.
After 4 days of this she had actually gotten a little stronger. And much to her doctors dismay we ceased the TPN. She was back to being able to drink enough of the high fat shake I had created for her. She couldn’t drink as much now as she had been able to in the past, but it was enough to keep her feeling better than she did on the TPN.
Ultimately cancer took its course and nothing would help. I watched her die a horrible death.
But I say this without reservations. My knowledge of sugar and her willingness to defy medical advice in terms of sugar not only extended my mother’s life, but it made the short life she had left better.
I only wish I had found keto and the knowledge I learned about fats at the beginning of her journey. I don’t know that it would have saved her. But I’m 100% convinced it would have given her a better life during those 4 1/2 years. And I also believe she would have lived longer. Possibly as much as another year.
Thanks for this video. I hope people take it to heart.

I feel that struggle... In my experience mental health challenges add an extra level of difficulty to keto. It's worth sticking at though :) I find that the more I pick myself up and start again, the more I learn about myself and what works for me (or doesn't) My slip ups are getting shorter and less epic in sugar content, haha!
Could I suggest that instead of scaring the crap out of yourself, you look into how keto could help with improving mental health - I find hope and possibility are easier to work under than fear. There isn't a heap of really clear research yet, but there are some signs that keto could create improvements for people with depression, bipolar, even schizophrenia. www.chrispalmermd.com/ has some basic info about using keto as part of a treatment plan.
Also, if sugar cravings are part of the symptoms with depression, I'm finding MCT oil is helping with mental energy and reducing cravings in that way. :)

I had a carotid ultrasound recently, following a series of TIAs (i.e. strokes that clear before causing any brain damage). It revealed one of my arteries is inflamed. Naturally the doctor wanted to put me on a statin, but I refused. I've spent the weeks since learning (or re-learning) as much as I possibly can about sugars, fats, and how they move around and are used in the body, and how statins actually work. Everything I've read or listened to thus far (including this video) confirms I made the right choice. I know what damaged my arteries in the first place, and so what I need to do is to fix my diet. I had already done so 18 months ago, thanks to Dr. Cywes and many others, but I didn't stick to it, especially in the 6 months prior to the TIAs. Obviously the bulk of the damage had been done over the preceding 40 years, but luckily this event didn't take me out and I get a chance to get serious about allowing my body to gradually heal itself. And I now have much greater motivation to stick to it than before. I owe a debt of gratitude to people like Dr. Cywes for telling me the truth about what really causes heart disease and stroke, and putting me in a position where I would even think to refuse a statin, and knowing what to actually do to fix the problem.

My husband was effectively killed off with parenteral 'nutrition'. He was a kidney transplant patient. He developed esophageal cancer after years of bad transplant medications. The 'nutrition' I fed him through his PEG tube was pure high fructose corn syrup with some synthetic vitamins and minerals added. It caused his kidney (graft) to start failing!!! And we could not get his blood sugar below 200....ever. He died a horrible death, suffered at the hands of 'well intentioned' doctors, I'm sure. I'm thankful he is no longer suffering but I miss him more than words can say...to every diabetic reading this, I strongly encourage you to get off those nasty sugars and carbs...please educate yourselves on proper nutrition...not the bad mojo nutrition guidelines of modern medicine. What a sobering video. From watching another one a few days ago I decided in that moment I am going to try a keto diet. I have lost 2 pounds in 3 days where a reduced calorie diet did nothing for me. One month of starving I lost 1 pound and then gained it all back the next day. I am now a senior and realizing how my body does not function the same, and while I am considered normal weight, I consider myself 10 pounds too heavy. The first time in my life. But mainly what bothered me was my bloated lower abdomen. I felt I was retaining fluid there. I am probably developing metabolic syndrome. I knew I had to change something. My blood sugar has never been too high, I exercise, eat a healthy all organic diet, but I have to admit, too much was carbs. I eat every little sugar, but if I am honest with myself I have to say too much of my diet is carbs. That is changing. Thank you doctor for your clear and firm discussions about the hazards of sugar.

I also stretch and decompress my back by doing bar hangs every morning which have helped my back pain. Thank you Dr. Cywes.

@Lee TV yes, it will continue to get better for you. I also find that morning stretches help with my lower back, too. I think a combination of healthier eating and purposeful physical movement have helped me tremendously. I do fall back to my old ways periodically and the pain comes back full force which is always regrettable on my part. However, I don’t dwell on it and the pain subsides once I’m straight again lol. The pain never goes away entirely during that time of the month but it is super tolerable now and I hardly think about it. I wish you the best of luck in your health journey.
