One of the few anime Pokemon voices that work. They did a great job emphasizing how such a monster Golisopod is, which made the twist of it being timid and cowardly at the tournament more surprising to newcomers.
I absolutely love how the anime painted Golisopod, it really justified why Golisopod has Emergency Exit as an ability, and why it's Guzma's signature Pokemon.

It reflects a facade, appearing big and scary, only to run away when things turn south. This idea is most evident with the league fight between Ash and Guzma, where Golisopod looks and acts terrifying, but switches out in desperation when things get tough. And it's this idea that games just fail to communicate.

Personally, I'd think Pikachu would be a combination of a mouse squeal and crackling electricity as Pikachu is known as the Electric Mouse Pokemon, with Pichu being a higher pitch with more sporadic electricity crackles and Raichu being a lower pitch
Golisopod in its own right is a really good pokemon, even in its own tier its a force to be reckoned with. Good stats, Phenomenal Movepool, Awesome design, only thing that held it back was its ability.
Me personally I think his ability should've been Sheer Force, or at the very least, Tough Claws. hell, they could've went the Gyarados route and gave him intimidate

funny enough golisopod is a bug version of gyrados its pre evolution is described as pathetic and weak like magikarps are useless but then when it evolves not only does it became a beast but it's personality takes a 180 going from cowardly to winning a fight by all means even meditating
First Impression and a properly bred one has Aqua Jet for an egg move. Also can teach it Sucker Punch via Move Tutor. Sword Dance for a 4th move is also a good choice instead of a coverage move like Rock Tomb and Poison Jab.

Golisopod is one of my favorite Pokémon, I had one in Sword that I named Linguine and I loved her, that was my ace. First impression is a good move, and though people say emergency exit isn’t that good, it can give you an easy way to switch out.
Plus the ability fits thematically with its underhanded strategy, highly suggesting that Golisopod leaves the field on purpose instead of out of cowardice like it did before when it was a Wimpod.
Yeah Im really surprised even some of the side unofficial battles in Sun & Moon was actually better animated than most of M8 battles, just look how fast Golisopod moves and its a really hard Pokemon to draw and animate. Also watch Torracat vs Incineroar in the beach, we dont even need to go to Alola finals. Shame. At least Ash vs Leon will be great it seems.
Yeah, the battles in SM were insanely animated and imo had the highest quality in the pokemon series to date. Almost every battle had that "Sakuga" feel to it and felt hand drawn (or had a ton more key frames).

Golisopod was near perfection if it wasn't for its ability. Gamefreak should've left out Wimpod's ability and should've gave it something like Clear Body or Battle Armor.
Emergency exit has fantastic synergy with First Impression though? It allows you to reuse the move again later and the priority mostly guarantees you can act before you're pushed out the exit. The real issue is that bug gets resisted by 7 out of 18 types.

Edit: I seriously doubt Team Star's grand boss has a Pokemon that can stand against the likes of Guzma's Golisopod.

New pokemon snap gives every pokemon animalistic sounds, the eeveelutions all sound like cats
It's strange, because most of the Legendary Pokemon in the anime tend to roar and shriek whilst regular ones say their names
I love how the emergency exit comes off as "ain't worth my time" instead of "oh crud, run from danger!"
