Since you like him live, you might want to watch him perform live at Princess Diana's funeral. Diane and Elton were close friends. Elton hasn't really been mainstream for 30 years or more but he has an absolute legion of devoted fans worldwide who would happily go to every show they could when he was on his regular tours and being largely of the -ahem- "older generation", many of them could afford to do just that. He made it the hard way, working as a session musician and songwriter for other acts before breaking through and becoming a megastar. I had never heard this song until it gained traction from being in the movie "Almost Famous" in 2000.

My favorite Elton John song? Jeeze...... Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Philadelphia Freedom, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Candle in the Wind (Goodbye England's Rose version, for Princess Diana's funeral), Sad Songs Say So Much...... impossible for me to decide. I'd say you should react to all of them if you can!!
Elton always said Bernie would send him the lyrics as simply a composition of poetry, then Elton would hear the music in his mind while reading the words, and sort out the arrangement. It was like that on pretty much every song they wrote together from 1970 through to this very day.
The music that came out of the 1960s-1980s was real. Pure. You had genuine, regular people writing heartfelt lyrics, and playing real instruments live. No computers. No "professional" song writers. It was all genuine music the way it should be. The industry became so corporatized and computerized over the years, I really feel sorry for people in your generation who are too young to remember when a new song came out. You literally had to stop on the side of the road if you were in your car to listen to it. And I mean LISTEN to it. You paid attention to the music, the instruments, the melody, the lyrics.
For all of Elton's outrageous stage outfits and glitter and sunglasses and Donald Duck outfits, what was always the driving force was the music. All the other garbage was just for show, it's the music of John/Taupin that's every bit as timeless and Lennon/McCartney.
It was much more than mere entertainment by some pop-tart written by some professional pop song writer and recorded using a few clicks of a computer keyboard that most music is today.

I love to sing this song it is such a great one. I grew up listening to Elton John so every time I heard his songs it gives me flashes of my whole life as though watching a movie. His music is timeless. Many of his songs are my favorite but some faster songs of his that are good as well are "I'm still standing" "Benny and the Jets"

Great reaction Jayy! My favorite EJ songs are Teacher I Need You and Blues For Baby and Me. You really should though (in my humble opinion) do a reaction to Tiny Dancer (audio) where there is full orchestration. Please react to Elton John singing Philadelphia Freedom on Soul Train!

Tiny Dancer is about his and Bernie Taupins first trip to LA. His first performance was at the Troubadour August 1970. I’m a long time Elton fan from the 70’s. I’m old😂
