I love how he's one of the few artists that still knows his roots. He still performs his old songs without a flinch and I really love that about him.

Except from Looser, this song was something that sparked my interest in this man's music, a great artist.
same here but I love Mellow Gold, it was my introduction to his music as well as weed and LSD, and it was a combination that was impossible to resist. Still have immense nostalgia when I hear all the tracks on Mellow Gold. When Beck came out with Loser, all of my friends thought that he was high as a kite and likely on many drugs as his music seemed to suggest that fact but I was shocked to see an interview where he said "hes just not that guy".
It's amazing, Mellow Gold remains Beck's magnum opus (along with the songs he recorded at that time, e.g. Fume, Totally Confused, MTV Makes Me Wanna Smoke Crack, Corvette Bummer, etc.) what an immense talent he had for songwriting at such a young age, he still is yet to top that era and it's unlikely he ever will.

Nope, I personally own Midnight Vultures, Odelay and Sea Change. I haven't actually heard Morning Phase. I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at to be honest.
just that pretty much every Beck album outdoes the one before. Mellow Gold is great but Odelay and Mutations are objectively better.
I don't see that at all, they don't even come close, but if you say so.
I really love Beck and most of his albums but I feel the same as you: his best works were during those years and Mellow GOld is his master piece.

He definitely has Dylan overtones but with his much stranger lyrics and his unique voice and take on music! Nothing wrong with influences but he’s an original talent!!
