@Derrick Owen yes! During poet, if you watch his left hand while he sings the words "by the bell, tolling for his farewell",......its insane! Not an incredibly difficult baseline, but the beat is slightly dragged, and yet his timing is perfect!

Hi! Great analysis of her vocals and the look on your face on Marko's first note... 😆👍
I can't help but point out how deep Floor goes into expressing what she feels onstage when singing.
She says she's highly sensitive so expression comes easier to her than it would a non-sensitive person. If it was just in her voice it would be one thing, but her body language, sudden moves or lack there of, little gestures that give you no other choice than to connect with the sound of her voice and the story she's telling.
A great example of that is during the intro, when it looks like her hand is going up to grab the mic, but then shows reluctance in doing so and eventually holds back. 🥰🥰
The other example is the same gesture but on "give in, give in, for a touch..." right before the second chorus. She goes to grab the mic, but then shows a reluctance to touch it.
And of course there's "Storytime" where all that body language just hooks you and drags you into that wonderful story that's being told. 🥰👍
Thank you so much for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed.
    😊❤🤘🤘

This song was literally written for Tarja, she sang it better in studio and live. Not that Floor's version isn't great, it absolutely is and even surpasses Tarja's in terms of power but overall Tarja's version of this song is better because it was hers in the first place, dedicated to her

If you listen carefully, the last two are "scream my angel" But yeah, he did go off. Tarja was on fire that night. She's a tough lady to give that magnificent performance and get fired after.

I imagine she can still do the belted version in the original key. However, it wouldn't have suited the vibe she was going for in that particular show. Yes, there were still "heavy" elements in that performance. But in general, she was going for something a bit lighter and more delicate for the show overall.

Viewer #72,000 ... interesting, I know I watched this before, but it's like watching an odometer roll over to a major milestone.
... Right after the key change, it was so fun to watch your expression... you knew where the notes were going, and what it would take to hold it all together... so much belting afoot....
... and there you are, literally holding the bridge of your nose down so it wouldn't lift off under the the pressure of forward placement in the lifted section.
    All good fun.
Thanks so much for viewing this.

If you want to see Marco take center stage (and I don't see it recommended in other comments), check out The Islander (live at Tampere)!
    Fantastic insights into the music!

Heeey! Yeah! This is the version loved by most fans of Floor,
different from the poppier version with the Marcel Fisser band.
You seem to be warming to them a bit more... then Marko starts singing!
Now you understand why we love him so much.
The way they sing together is magical.
    "Good evening Sir!"
Air guitar with Empuu (you noticed the inflatable pink guitar, played by "Portos and Aramis").
One vocal coach appreciating another :)
    That ending of Floor!!!

    Essential live Marko:
    High Hopes (NW)
    Phantom of the Opera (NW)
    Tides (Tarot, his metal band)
And I think his recent guest vocal on Waltari's Below Zero remake is one of his best studio vocals ever.

Hey Jenn, I forgot to add a specific song for you to react to. Marko sings "Islander" during their Tempere performance, in this one you get to see/hear a little more of his fabulous voice. He is going to be sorely missed.

Floor is amazing as always, but what gets me in this song is the fact that Marko as I understand it had vocal cord surgery a few years prior to this, and yet he can sing still in such an great fashion. Man I miss Floor & Marko together.

One of the deepest regrets of Marko finally deciding he's had enough of the music industry is that we no longer get that powerful beauty of his voice and Floor's dancing on the blades edge :(

If you want to hear more Marko, plus hear more vocal techniques from Floor that you have yet to hear in the previous songs - "Ghost River" from the same concert: czcams.com/video/05eitd-EA6I/video.html
Both Floor and Marko will surprise you - again.

I love your reactions with Nightwish.
You would have to do a reaction of Floor Jansen, when he was in his previous band "Revamp", in the song "Disdain Live at Graspop (2010)", you would be amazed with what he is capable of doing with his voice.

I remember reading that this song was the one that Floor though was the hardest to adapt when she jumped into Nightwish. The reasons were that it is very high and originally written for an operatic voice (which Floor is able to do, naturally, but did not choose to use here). I recommend listening to a version with Tarja, just for comparison. End of an Era concert has a good live version.

Floor has said that this song was the most challenging Nightwish song to sing with the key change going up at the end. Maybe that's why she dropped the key down a bit.
