- One common theme for the Nets over the last five years or so has been the decided lack of leadership at critical junctures in their seasons. It’s been a recurring issue for a team and it goes back through multiple iterations of players and coaches.

A fair and balanced assessment of the Nets arduous journey throughout the Sean Marks reign. It sheds a much needed chronology, especially to the uninformed, on how the Nets arrived at the present dreadful state. I appreciate it.
Leadership has, historically, and always should start at the top.
Tsai has allowed Marks to pick the coaches and roster. Ultimately, the Nets' lack of success falls on the owner. Since Tsai has decided to stick with Marks, we have to hope that Marks listens to Fernandez and allows him to shape the team. We need a different approach. Can't give Fernandez a roster lacking in playmaking, athleticism, and size and then expect him to have any kind of a playoff run. I was pleasantly surprised that Marks said they are looking to get into this draft. The team isn't good enough to not participate in an entire draft cycle. Marks' strength is the draft and there should be deals to be made. If anyone can find a diamond in the rough in this draft, it's him.
The total sum of all that Marks has done since he became GM of the Nets has lead us to our present appalling state. His "success" as a good drafter hasn't produced anything worthy of the accodes he's received from his past "success" in that department. He's have a big staff to help him find diamonds in the rough. There's no doubt in my mind that a future new GM could do just as well if not better.
I agree with you Claude. I'm resigned to the fact that Marks will be our GM for the foreseeable future. Given this reality, my hope is that he not only drafts well but that Fernandez lets the young talent play and develop.
I recall Dinwiddie saying in an interview before start of season that it was "Ben Simmons team", which I had a chuckle at. If Ben was the expected leader then it was already a sinking ship.
He probably said it with tongue in cheek and eyes rolling.
Ben made this nets roster better. However, he is injured again. Dinwiddie played well with Ben the beginning of the season.
Schroder at least is a leader. Keep him around till we find the PG of the future
The Nets were held up as one of the model organizations in the league. It was cited as to why certain players wanted to go there and not to their crosstown rival.
Somewhat related, team chemistry has been lacking as well.
I think by not having kyrie’s back and making him do all of that extra stuff for something he never said…put a negative light on the organization. It’ll possibly be hard to land top players

5:04 - NO!! If these were the right moves at the time, they'd still be here. Sean Marks sold his soul to Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan for the chance at relevancy by signing Durant.
We should've stayed in our lane. Hopefully, Jordi Fernandez will compel Sean Marks to throw out his outdated small-ball blueprint for a modern one that works
