I grew up in Mumbai in the late 80s and 90s, really didn't know about caste back then, it was never talked about. My parents taught me to treat everyone with respect. I grew up in a Catholic colony in Bandra West, with 72 Catholic families, and one Hindu family, but we celebrated Holi and Diwali in our colony, I remember enjoying Holi more than Christmas, can we bring this feeling back please? I no longer live in India, but I would love for the current and future generations to live in harmony and love, without ever thinking about religion, caste and all this nonsene that the now govt is trying to impose on us? #Inshallah.

During the 1000-year Muslim rule there is no record of genocide. Yes some Muslim rulers destroyed temples and were anti-Hindu, but that was not the norm. Mostly during the Muslim rule there was harmony and unity among Hindus and Muslims. Hindus always held very high positions even in Aurangzeb's rule. Aurangzeb even protected Hindus/Brahmins and their temples and religious practices. That is why Hindus remained a majority unlike what happened in Iran and Turkey.
After the Muslim period we had 200 years of British rule. Both Hindus and Muslims fought to gain freedom from the British. When India gained Independence the country was partitioned into India and Pakistan because of some Muslims and also Hindu Mahasabha. Pakistan for the Muslims and India for Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, etc. India decided to keep Kashmir which was a Hindu state but with Muslims as majority and the kingdom of Nizam which was a Muslim state but with Hindu majority. For reasons I still don't understand, Muslims who hadn't migrated to Pakistan were requested to stay in India as equal citizens by the then government. The first Education Minister of Independent India, Maulana Azad, begged the Muslims to stay. Nehru, Gandhi assured the Muslims that they would be safe in India, that India was their country. Thus was decided the fate of Indian Muslims. Now after 74 years of independence and after 3 Muslim presidents, all of a sudden Muslims are being labelled as outsiders. It is too late now. Muslims are now an integral part of India. India is a secular state, meaning all citizens are equal no matter what religion they follow. India is not a Hindu state. Hinduism is not the state religion. But the hindutva mob want Hindu dominance. That is why we support Hinduism but not hindutva. That is totally unacceptable by the 25 Crore non-Hindus. A Hindu state is only possible if there is another partition, one Sanatan Desh and one India. Sanatan Desh for the hindutva supporters and India for the Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, etc. And I can guarantee you one thing, if there is a partition then the Sanatan Desh will split up again because of Caste System.
