    Quite a few owners and potential owners have been in touch, so here's an update. Skoda's picked the car up and has it for a week to fix the problem - I'll report back when it's fixed with another video. In the meantime, I'll be driving the diesel 4x4 version of the vRS...

    Yay thought u might say, can’t be arsed packing it in, after I just found your grounded car reviews. Also if I can be smug for a mo, my recently purchased mk3 octavia with tech pack ( haven’t worked out what that actually is) has the previous infowhatsit and works perfectly it also knobs for the a/c 😁 oh but hang on yours was free, arse. Oh well. Keep it up and enjoy the holiday with the kids 🤣 mine are now grown up and off to Uni - yippeee 🎉though bankruptcy now looms as a result, oh and me and the Mrs need to remember why we liked each other once……arse.

    RIP Grandad 😢
    Your Mum was great last night too Tim. She really goes the extra mile 👍🏻
    Sounds like an action packed few months coming up. Glad you’re enjoying the nonsense creation 😀
    I hope your testicles enjoy Norfolk.
    See you around town 🤓

    That big screen that runs everything puts me off getting latest version. I absolutely love my VRS245 mk3 2018 it's been brilliant. It doesn't rely on that Computer screen to rum everything

    What have Skoda done about fixing the infotainment problem? that's what we want to know. I would suggest that if you had paid for the car yourself with your own money, then you would be demanding they get it fixed ASAP under warranty and not just put up with a faulty system. This is the problem with reviews of free cars on loan to many journalists in my opinion, they don't want to make too much of a fuss about faults etc for fear of upsetting the manufacturers and possibly jeopardising the offer of free long term test car's in the future. Please give us some updates on Skoda's efforts and effectiveness in fixing the problem. If this is a common problem which is difficult to rectify, it would certainly put me off buying one of these cars.

      "They don't want to make too much of a fuss about faults etc." - what do you think me putting this video up on CZcams is?! Anyway - the car's been collected today and is back with Skoda UK for a week to be fixed. Will do an update when it's back to see what's been fixed. Will be driving a diesel one in the meantime.

    • @ThePaultap
      @ThePaultap Před 3 lety

      Tim Rodie Drives Stuff Tim, the way you presented the video, it looked like you were just prepared to put up with the fault, if you had stated that the car was going back into Skoda to get the problem fixed and that you will keep us updated on its progress, then my response would have been different. Thanks for pointing out the fault though..... one week to fix the problem certainly does seem to be a long time.

    • @TimRodieDrivesStuff
      @TimRodieDrivesStuff  Před 3 lety

      @@ThePaultap I hadn't booked the car in when I filmed the video is why! Yeah, I don't think it actually takes a week, that's just the easiest way to fit the car into the press workshop schedule I imagine. Are you looking to buy one?

    • @ThePaultap
      @ThePaultap Před 3 lety

      Tim Rodie Drives Stuff It is one of the cars on the list of potential future buys. Incidentally I used to have a classic shaped Impreza wagon, a 2.0L turbo with the standard 215 BHP engine, mild by today's standards, but it would certainly put a smile on your face and I'm sure it could show this Octavia a clean pair of heels, It was a 99 model year, 4wd and a great car to drive. Alas Subaru UK no longer import the Impreza's here or I would seriously look at a modern version. The good thing about old school cars like the Impreza was it's relative simplicity, you could just turn the key and drive it, no faffing about with driver settings and tech waiting to break down. There is no direct replacement available here now really unless you want to spend nearly £40k on something packed with needless tech!

    I liked the video. It was like 2 for 1. 'Appy dayz. I'm a recent subscriber after following other channels and yes your videos are honest and more real world. I loved the bugs what annoyed you and also the best bit. Putting things in real world usage context gives the car a better review and were able to relate to it. The 'waffle' bit was great. Honesty at its best with letting our a fellow car brand driver and not giving the white van a chance!🤣🤣
    It's definitely more refreshing and a great relexed honest style. Have a great hol and see you soon. P.s. do you think you'll be able to review any more of the Genesis vehicles? They have done great and for me, a serious alternative brand to consider as my next purchase.

    Mate, I have an explanation for the Korean car bump - people who want something properly decent, without compromise on creature comforts and want to save some money are curious about KIA/Hyundai cars. I was one of those people, but then I went for a VW T-Roc. Don't ever stop what you're doing and what you love to do! I may be critical sometimes (here and on DriveTribe), but I'm constructive and I support your work in the ways I can (watching, reading, bumping and commenting). Also, I'm grateful for the few homepage promos from you 😊

    I really want an Octavia. I love my golf but i saw Octavias all over Italy and they're so nice. Also, my idea of Essex voice is Carthrottles Jack Joy. Here's a question, what is your idea of the perfect car. The one that's fun, daily drivable, the lot.

  • @Kiwi_Dave
    @Kiwi_Dave Před 3 lety +1

    The dilemma for a lot of car buyers at the moment for a family car, get something tried and true with a bit of performance, or an EV. IONIQ 5 is nice but it's a third more than a Octavia vRS here in NZ, that would pay for a lifetime of fuel and maintenance..

    Good nonsense, and I’m glad to hear you’ll be continuing. I’m obviously not one of your ideal subscribers; I don’t watch the Korean videos and the EV ones pass me by (but I’m not against them), and I don’t abuse you (or anyone else)! You’re still an influencer in my eyes though, remember, you influenced me to buy a GR Yaris and an F-Type, how much more evidence does one need?! Perhaps we can consider that last sentence as abuse? 🤪
    In all seriousness, the content you create is refreshingly different from many of the other “successful” channels, but I think their future isn’t as bright as yours. 👍

    I know what you mean with incorrect information. The one video that got loads of comments was the one with incorrect information because everyone points it out. What your future of CZcams is is what I want to do but in a different style. Something like a quick view, infotainment review and then the car review. Best to do the car the want to review. Great video

    Did I hear you utter the words “V8 Defender” somewhere in that there video?
    And, Essex accents: all over the map aren’t they? I wasn’t bright enough to go to KEGS, but my nearish-by school’s catchment area included an exciting melting pot of accents from plummy north Essex, Lahndahn, and Sarfend (with a side helping of Vange). Not many plummy accents actually in evidence at school though - they were a rather unfortunate invitation for 80s comprehensive brutality.
    Still, the music was good.

    Came for the bikes, stayed for the waffle. Keep up the good work (and telling van drivers to GFY, did have me actual lolling). I also do that slap thing to retract the boot cover on our Octavia (1.4 sadly), strangely satisfying.

    I had a similar problem with my new golf, I got it fixed under warranty, I had believed it needed a new sos module from research on line but i was informed by VW tech advisor it turned out it was a "loose aerial connector"
    Still wondering why it took two days to fix... for a loose connector.
    Still least it's fixed and problem hasn't returned.
