    excellent tutorial on the deep frying of the shrimp...
    i omitted the milk , only using a 50/50 blend of sweet condensed/coconut milk in sauce which cut down the prep time by not needing time to thicken..
    good job..

    @Zyxy2k You can mix it with sauce but because this sauce it liquid-y because of the addition of milk, it will immediate absorb the sauce. In my opinion, I think it's best to pour the sauce because some people don't like too much mayo as it will make them feel queasy after consuming a certain amount since mayo is mostly consist of oil.

    Btw, some restaurants use pineapple or a hint of citrus (maybe lemon?), so do you think they add pineapple juice in the sauce or lemon juice? it really smells and tastes fragrance and a bit citrus-y yet sweet.
    And, thanks again for the recipe and new video!
    Keep them coming, it's been a while ;)
    Very nice video as usual :)

    • @TheArtOfCooking
      @TheArtOfCooking  Před 10 lety +3

      evotube I think they add fresh lemon and orange to get that citrus taste. Orange=sweet and lemon= little bit sour, both will give you citrus-y taste to it.

    Do i need put the sauce & batter in the fridge or freezer?

    • @TheArtOfCooking
      @TheArtOfCooking  Před 10 lety

      Mitsuki Shigenoi For this one, how long the sauce will last will depend on your milk. Whenever your milk "best by" date is, that is the best indicator of how long to store the sauce. Sauce, needs to be in the fridge. The batter, it's best to make it fresh.

    Question : Can you post a video on how to make peanut butter chicken? I can't find a good recipe anywhere! I first tried it at the Wok Express in Lincoln, NE and loved it! But no restaurant near my home does it right. It was the same consistency as General Tso's Chicken (breaded, fried, and covered in sauce), but it was not the thai style peanut satay sauce, it was kind of sweet sauce, but idk what they mixed the peanut butter with. Can you help? I haven't had it in years, and so I'd like to try to make it on my own.

    I've seen one chef boil the shrimp for a few seconds then covered it in batter. What is the point of pre boiling the shrimp?

    • @TheArtOfCooking
      @TheArtOfCooking  Před 10 lety +2

      To be honest, I'm not sure what is the point of pre boiling the shrimp then covered in batter. To me, the shrimp is overcooked once the batter turns golden brown which will make shrimps rubbery and dry.

  • @ryando972
    @ryando972 Před 9 lety

    Way too much dough on the prawns. Way too much mayo. Prawns will be soggy with that much mayo. I found a better recipe. Go to siu's cooking and try their recipe. Guarantee your prawns will be crunchy and not doughy. Their recipe is a lot easier.

    • @TheArtOfCooking
      @TheArtOfCooking  Před 9 lety +11

      Ryan Do Apparently you didn't tried this recipe for the simple fact that if you add baking powder to the flour mixture it will thin it out when frying. It may looks like it's too much dough but inside there is a gap separate between the dough and the shrimp which makes it crunchy and crust thin. Second, you don't use all the mayo sauce. That's why I said, you do not pour on the sauce until serving and you only need to pour a little bit or however much you need. You don't use all the sauce because mayo is oil base and if you consume too much of it, it will make you feel queasy. Third, Siu's cooking has their own way of preparing this recipe so if you think their is better or a lot easier well, good for you. I respect Siu's cooking channel and the way he prepare his dish.
