No, but it may seem that way sometimes. I wouldn't have minded a DLC or reference to her in the first Arena game, but this definitely makes up for that. Seems like a move that just made sense since even Golden made some note that her persona if she used one would have been Kaguya.

I'm all for new content, but they really only added a social link and suddenly made her a huge part of the story where she was otherwise absent. I'm not saying that they had to add her to every Investigation Team meeting, but for her only interaction with the cast to be in her own link even though they added a load of new scenes that she could have been a part of feels incredibly lazy. Take a look at P4GA, in that they added her to ALL of the events. This makes it a lot more believable that she was a real part of the group instead of just an expansion pack. Alternatively, they could have done what they did with Elizabeth in P3 FES, where the MC's only interactions with her are sort of in secret, tie it into the mystery of the velvet room or something. Instead, they went with this weird, somewhere in the middle zone where it seems like she's part of the group, but nobody invites her when they go out. Atlus should have decided early on just how involved she was going to be with the story and the OG main cast. In the original game, every character had their shadow confrontation and social link before you could face Adachi and save the world, with Marie it felt like "well they saved the world and- SHIT WE FORGOT ABOUT MARIE! QUICK, put in that dungeon we made so she can face herself after the plot is pretty much wrapped up and she can have her resolution during the completely optional true ending. I don't hate her as a character, and I'm happy to see more people added to the ever growing Ultimax roster, but Marie's inclusion to golden was handled poorly and it definitely hurt her in the long run.

It made sense as far as I could tell. True enough it's the unlock persona for completing her social link. However, it was shown connected to her in the Golden Epilogue credits. Like how all the main characters had their personas shown after them. So kind of makes sense she'd use Kaguya to fight in these battles.
Well I wouldn't rush you on finishing the Soul Eater anime (since it went anime original at the end), just read the manga ;). I just finished replaying Golden a few weeks ago so the story is still pretty fresh in my mind.
FES was more on the sequel side, since it has a story after the main story, but came with the main story with added features. And Golden is an enhanced version. I'm fine with them adding character to it, but what bothers me is that people (me included) that played the PS2 version and not Golden are going to have no idea who she is. Granted, I looked at a wikia about her before hand, but not everyone wants to do that, to prevent spoiling P4. I'm just saying I'd rather it kept to where people that played the original and people that played Golden are able to follow the story. If she's just DLC in not in the story at all, it'd be fine, so there isn't as much confusion.
TheBlackBloodNinja Yeah, she is DLC. (that still sucks, because my wallet is going to start crying). But really the story from P4 to P4G is mostly the same. P4G just gives more info on the final boss and other minor things (like beach events, and sky trips, etc) so I think Marie is not that confusing even if you only played the PS2 version. And just a small tip... You should play P4G, it is a fantastic game. I was a bit unsure if getting a Vita just for that game was worth it and it totally was, even after playing P4 on my PS2.
I would get it, but it's the only thing in the Vita's library (well exclusive-ish anyway) that really sticks out to me, and simply don't want to buy for just one game.

It made sense as far as I could tell. True enough it's the unlock persona for completing her social link. However, it was shown connected to her in the Golden Epilogue credits. Like how all the main characters had their personas shown after them. So kind of makes sense she'd use Kaguya to fight in these battles.

Well I wouldn't rush you on finishing the Soul Eater anime (since it went anime original at the end), just read the manga ;).
I just finished replaying Golden a few weeks ago so the story is still pretty fresh in my mind.

Joy, they made Golden canon now. Thanks for telling me I own the wrong version.
It is no the "wrong" version.
Golden is just enhanced.
And if FES was canon then by logic golden was canon too.
FES was more on the sequel side, since it has a story after the main story, but came with the main story with added features. And Golden is an enhanced version. I'm fine with them adding character to it, but what bothers me is that people (me included) that played the PS2 version and not Golden are going to have no idea who she is. Granted, I looked at a wikia about her before hand, but not everyone wants to do that, to prevent spoiling P4. I'm just saying I'd rather it kept to where people that played the original and people that played Golden are able to follow the story. If she's just DLC in not in the story at all, it'd be fine, so there isn't as much confusion.
TheBlackBloodNinja Yeah, she is DLC. (that still sucks, because my wallet is going to start crying).
But really the story from P4 to P4G is mostly the same.
P4G just gives more info on the final boss and other minor things (like beach events, and sky trips, etc) so I think Marie is not that confusing even if you only played the PS2 version.
And just a small tip...
You should play P4G, it is a fantastic game.
I was a bit unsure if getting a Vita just for that game was worth it and it totally was, even after playing P4 on my PS2.
I would get it, but it's the only thing in the Vita's library (well exclusive-ish anyway) that really sticks out to me, and simply don't want to buy for just one game.
TheBlackBloodNinja I know, it is a great game and to me it was worth buying the system for it...
But there isn't any other game that I want to buy for it.
But hey, there are some good let's plays of it out there.
