Hardly felt like I was taking off... I never felt so safe in a plane before. Simply a masterpiece of engineering. We need more of these in the sky.
+Guang Yi Cheong None of us airlines have A380 in their fleet
The reason is fuel efficiency
Sadly it has been discontinued.
Safe? 😂 if it falls the moment it hits the ground it disappears like a bubble
@@qduff u didn't get my comment, I meant: no matter how safe the plane feels, if it falls then good luck.
The A380 has the pride to show that it had caused ZERO loss of life in it's entire service life. Sad to see such a technological marvel go

Apparently, your a communist. The A380 was not profitable.

You can ride one Emirates will keep them operating for a while.
I never get to fly so I'm literally just seeing this beautiful plane. Why are they doing away with it??
It’s not economically the best for operators since it’s quite difficult to fill up a plane that nearly seats 1000 people. However that doesn’t detract from the fact that the plane with its size, can get off the ground.
@@angelacollins7695 economic reasons, the a380 would've been a great plane in the 1960s-late90s to compete against the 747 because airlines relied on the hub-and-spoke model. Nowadays twin jet airplanes such as the Boeing 777/787 or a350 are superior as airlines can now rely on direct point-to-point flights. Flights that weren't popular enough to fit enough seats on bigger planes that were the only ones to fly far can now be serviced with planes that have lower capacity AND longer range.
To simplify: Airplanes have gotten incredibly efficient which has helped us consumers by unlocking more direct non-stop flights

+Poatatasium Poatatogen PO2 There are videos about people who fly for FREE on various airlines, including Emirates (which flies this plane). They guy only flies for free or for a few dollars. As I remember he flew around the world for under $500 and spent about a month. It was so "great" he was on TV about how he did it. I heard about it because my better half pointed it out during Good Morning America (or was it the Today Show). Anyway, his videos are here on CZcams about flying free and on Emirates.

I watched this when I was 10 years old, and now I am turning 20 this September. The time flies so fast, and still, this is my dream job: to be a flight attendant or pilot someday. I hope to be a crew member on an A380 someday.
It was, is and will be a legendary plane. I have been a fan of it for years and I feel a bit sorry for the thought that it is possible that in a few years I will not have the opportunity to fly it 😢
It looks like airbus brought us back the good old days with the 747-100/200.Thank you, Airbus

747: queen of the skies👑
A380: king of the skies 👑
I've always been a Boeing fan but I gotta say, the A380 is one heck of an aircraft. I think I like the A380 better than the 747 now. Well done Airbus.
the 747 still looks prettier for sure, but really gotta hand it to the airbus team
Yup, in the '70s, when other airlines were making Death-Crusiers and Airbs A300s (see what I did with Airbus?), Boeing made a contraption that is still used today.
SnipeYouFromMars Me too. The 747-8 is cool and all, but The A380 is WAY bigger and just looks better. Also, the 747-8 doesn't have 2 full decks. And they even made the first jumbo jet.....
The A380 is impressive, but it seems too large and underpowered to perform emergency maneuvers. Saw one on the ground with 1 flat tire and the engine was almost hitting the ground (within a foot of it) Takeoff is smooth, but feels like it is struggling to get off the ground. Not saying it's not a nice plane, but I flew on a relatively new A380 and it already looked "well worn" (which is something I have noticed in Airbus designs) that being they seem like they don't age gracefully, but quickly lose their shine. Was on a A340 back and it also seemed worn (different carrier) Just my observation. Liked my flight on the A380 also on the 787. The 747 needed to be replaced with a new design, but 777x seems the way they are heading.
Nope, I don´t like this plane Boeing forever the best

I am going on this in October and i’m so excited 😁
Take me
I wish the plane could fly forever after seeing this.
I got to wondering, the plane can hold 843 passengers, & even at a conservative $1000 per seat for economy which is bout 700 of those seats, thats 700K. Then add in business class which is about 100 at 3K a seat & thats 300K. And finally 1st class which i have seen as high as 12K per seat, thats another 515K. Thats roughly 1.5 million for a long haul flight. Even conservatively, its gotta be pushing 1Mil per flight. Just dayum!
Yezz, but it can only handle 1 flight a day, and the price.... well, it costs almost 400M, so not much money, as you might expect :(
Just the fuel for the flight will cost around 110K at least, and that's before depreciation, maintenance, flight crew wages and overheads and insurance. A more realistic assumption is 100% load factor in economy, 50% in business and first which get the gross revenue down to below 900K. 3 flight crew at 2000 each at least, 20 cabin crew at, say, 750 each, navigation and landing charges ...
$1000 per economy seat per sector is quite high. Last time on an A380 (LHR-DUB-MEL-DUB-LHR) I paid around $1200 for the 4 sectors, around 4 weeks in advance.
The flight is a big enterprise (that's why airlines have production engineers to schedule and reschedule aircraft and crew, as well as many other engineers) but it is far from being a gold mine.
@@ArthurKaletzky true but one thing I would like to add is that airlines rely heavily on business and first. most money they received is spent on the governments of different countries so that they are allowed to fly through those countries' airspace. Another thing is that airline lose money when their aircraft is on the ground, due to they have to pay the airport for their gate(my safe bet is the airport charges by the minute).
In the early 2000s, I remember flying on 737s, and they were SO loud. Was it just my younger ears then, or have they gotten much quieter in the past 10+ years? Let's see... in 2003, I'm sure I was on a plane that was from the late 1990s or so. Today, Southwest has pretty new planes.
Derim
They've introduced 2 new 737 models since 2000 and they all had an improvement.
Ruhaan Kakar I was little in the early 2000s, but I remember - for instance - Southwest's 737s having big, cushy seats... and now they are thin, narrow, and hard. The only advancements I've seen so far are onboard WiFi, outlets, and a reduction in cabin noise.
oki then, might not be an improvement lol, but they have changed a lot. The sound used to be soo loud on aeroplanes and now its just as quiet as my car
The a380 is one of the quietest planes in the sky right now. And it is true. I've tried it out
Got to fly in this on my way to Sydney, Australia across the Pacific. Incredible experience
Literally a flying hotel...paradise in the skies
I used to wonder why Air Force One didnt upgrade to this then I remembered it was European
Not becuase its European, its becuase there is simply no need to upgrade. They already have several 747s ready to be used as Air Force One that are highly customized and tuned. Aside from it being bigger, there is no real gain from upgrading.
Because the President actually needs to fly places, and the A380 can't do that apart from a mere 30 airports.
They are looking to upgrade in 2017, I think Airbus have so many orders right now that they are not looking forward to taking on a big task, PS it costs lots of money to take a plane and redesing it. Especily for a non-American company. Boeing do it at a reduced price
Air Force One not a company or plane for all you in this thread. The two planes used by the president are the SAM 2800 and SAM 2900 the US Air force operates them. for this just the call sign used most of the time
Yes, they have ordered 747-8's.
