You can buy O rings from many suppliers. All you need are the specs of it... but are generally sized according to internal diameter and cross section (difference between internal and external diameter). Would suggest Viton (FKM) or Kalrez (FFKM) o rings for that application.. and most likely better than OEM. About £5 each! Worst case scenario... they can even make custom o rings for you! (Friend works for a pump manufacturer)

There`s probably a £10 oil filter that has that very same o ring on it out there somewhere!

There are plenty of o ring kits for brake vacuum pumps think you need part number of pump as reference when buying 0 ring kit. The pattern part pumps are probably made by pier burg or Bosch and other Oe suppliers.

Hi Alan, BMW are just the same with their vacuum pumps. You can’t just but the “O” ring, you have to buy the complete pump.
Luckily I managed to find some genuine “O” rings on the internet for about £5.
Problem sorted. Keep up the good work 👍

The oil's getting out through the o ring, but how's it getting in there? Or to put it another way - Is the pump actually meant to be full of oil? If not then it's a different seal that's failed, say at the input shaft, allowing it to fill with oil - just a thought. (I know nothing about these pumps)

yes this type of vacuum pump (called vane type) needs engine oil for operation of the pump, to reduce wear and also for cooling. The oil is supplied through the camshaft or from oil passage from the head. Then the oil is returned to the head from the check valve that also returns air that the pump sucked and put it inside the head and helps create positive crankcase pressure
