Excellent vid. As a mechanic's son who spent a childhood "helping" I learnt how to use tools. With the guidance of your vids instead of my late father looking over my shoulder I get so much enjoyment from completing a job well. And doing 20k a year in my mk5 is so much more comfortable than when I used to rattle along in my 3 series BMW. I'm hoping that with my service after 10k followed by a garage service after another 10k the car will clock up some reliable mileage. Thanks Alan, hats off to you.

Hello Alan, thanks for this vid. Though i dont take it to the local main dealer anymore, because i got ripped off and took it personally. I always suspected they never changed all the filters. I take it to the local Vauxhall dealer as they do a better job and change filters. And i dont get those ridiculous videos that the poor mechanic/technician has to do. A great pity your not nearer. On the subject of pads and discs, i dont recall that we ever changed discs as often as we do now. Nor springs either.

    • @marklittler784

Ford it’s every 2 years, and it’s because of the ABS valve block, moisture in the fluid or contamination causes corrosion or valves to jam up.

Could you advise please on the 2015 Mondeo dry cam belt, Ford says 125,000 or 10 years on my 180bhp manual diesel but I’m reading comments saying change before 80,000 miles etc as they snap. I know of no one having such trouble, just had my car serviced at 106,640 (108 service) and told too early to change belt etc and do it nearer to 125 by Ford dealer so not waste my money. Had the car from 5,000 miles 11 months old to 107,000 no trouble other than fuel pump gaskets once, a new radiator and one new rear caliper this summer. Be grateful for your expert comment please, planning to change cam belt, tensioner and water pump by 115,000 or should I do it now at 107,000? Thank you for your time and any feedback. Enjoy Christmas 2023 and the New Year.

hi gary, as far as i am aware these belts do quite well and i have not heard of them snapping either.
on the taxis although the service interval is 125k miles i have always changed them at 100k miles.... we have let some run for longer and to be honest i would definately change it at 115k miles at the maximum as the belts do look a but ragged at that kind of mileage anmd a much higher chance of the water pump leaking

Hello. Can you tell me your opinion on the Ford Mondeo Titanium MK4 2011/2012 CC hatchback?
I own one and am not happy! 2 l. 144hp auto.
This is a mondeo titanium and not a vw polo!
It is far too noisy inside while driving!!?
    Lots of stupid solutions
as the instrument panel has tragically little info.
Placement of seat warmer in front of cup holder. You can quickly spill and damage the seat heater switch!!
Motor data control front bumper front.
Auto side mirror that goes into auto when you lock the car that you can't turn off.
Petrol lid locking mechanism which has a weakness and needs to be replaced and takes the fuse. then you stand there and can't fill up with diesel!
Front lights that shine more dimly than you expect.
Car stereo that does not have the sound quality you expect from a Mondeo Titanium.
Headlights that are no longer sealed and fill up with water.
The large shelf plate in the trunk of the hatchback which is CHEAPLY made and breaks quickly if you lift it incorrectly.
The floor plate in the luggage compartment is made cheaply and not well.
Screws for the seat belt in the back seat have screw holes straight through the bodywork and out on the underside. water and salt and everything hits the screw and it rusts.
Suddenly high revs when you take off from 0. You can hardly press the gas pedal, when the turbo has spun up you suddenly have high revs and stand there for 2 3 seconds before it shifts. After that everything is 100% ok. and normal. gearbox data and engine data are not programmed correctly!
And several other things I dislike!

    Hi Alan
I am writing you from Portugal and need your opinion, please, on the following
    I own a Mondeo (2.0 150 BHP,Titanium,2018 )with 60.000 km
Before last oil change got messages saying "complete oil level" which I did
And 3 weeks ago I went to Ford dealership to change oil
When I picked up the car they said they detected a" transpiration" where it could loose some oil but nothing to worry about, they cleaned it and said to check periodically the oil level
Last week I went back to dealership because I know the guy in charge, and asked him to check if the transpiration mark got back
When I picked up the car he told me that they found a leak under engine at motor carter and needed fixing because the "silicone kr mastique used to glue (what??) It is not good enymore and not sealing
My question, when they change oil how they didnt see it?
If is normal for a 60.000km car to leak oil?
    Is it bad?
Is 650 euros a honest price?
I want to mention that up untill now I was extremely happy with the Mondeo, which is a superb car to drive
Also from what I researched before buying the car tne PSA engine which equipped the Mondeo is a very reliable engine, being considered one of the best 2.0 diesel in Europe
    Thank you
    Dan

hi dan, it is fairly common for these engines to develop oil leaks at low mileages...usually from the high pressure fuel pump area where the oil will run down the back of the engine...more serious leaks can occur at might higher mileages but without seeing the car I don't know where your leak is..best thing is to ask your mechanic for a quote on repairing the leak and explaining to you what it is that is leaking and what is needed to fix it

Alan, how reliable are these Mondeos? I'm thinking of getting a newer car. Currently own a 2006 2.2 iCTDi Honda Civic. Owned it for 11 years, it's done 217k miles and been utterly reliable, drives spot on, engine never touched apart from servicing. Unfortunately rust on the rear end is meaning it'll have to be replaced. I have thought about the newer 2.2 iDTEC Civic but they stopped making these in 2013 so getting old now and I don't want the wheezy Honda 1.6 diesel after owning the 2.2 as it's a gem of an engine.
